as I pointed out alreadey. I am afraid that you don't want to admit it.
Admit what? That you made a cock up in your description of a chips capibility leading me to belive that you say that a PCI-E x3 slot is possible, when its technically not?

As for audio part, it's up to each person how interpret it. You don't have to explain such a trivial matter long.
Ah, so its trivial when the specifics of the platforms audio implementation made by me are right, but its not trivial when you think your right about something. I get it now.
You amuse me. Im gonna leave it at that now. This discussion has worn itself out.

That your statement

"PCI-E lanes, im sorry your wrong there, you cant have a 3 lane PCI-E slot. Of course, your not entirely clear there, so if you want to reword that bit, then we can decide if your incorrect or not. "

is wrong. It's completely beyond my understanding how you can't recoginize it. You seem to be retarded or seem to live in a different world with different logical thinkings from this world. If you feel that "I made a cock up in my description of a chips capibility leading you to belive that I say that a PCI-E x3 slot is possible, when its technically not" by reading

[*]Audio (HDA+AC'97 vs AC'97)
[*]PCI-E lanes (16x1+1x1 vs 16x1+1x3)

then I'm afraid the former applies to you.:disgust: Well, it seems that I totally wasted time ...

don't want to be the one to break up the argument but lets get back to subject. I don't think either of you is going to change your minds. So does the scythe ninja fit on one of these or not?

Sorry, folks in this thread. I just wanted to suggest to harobikes333 a passive cooling motherboard that could be an alternative to AN8 Ultra as it became hard to find in retail stores, but we went in a wrong direction unexpectedly...

Abit listed x2 CPU's (toledo) are supported from bios 19, but what BISO version does the board come with?

I am going to order this board and 4400x2 CPU, is it going to at least boot so I can update the BIOS?

Certainly dont have an extra CPU floating around just to update bios ...
Thanks

i have an x2 4200+. i originally bought a refubished (never again) an8 fatal1ty sli. the board had issues and was returned. i then tried the regular an8 fatal1ty (no sli).....liked the board but lacked all the options i wanted. so i returned that one and got a new (not refurbed) an8 fatal1ty sli. that board had the overvolting problem and had to be rma'd back to abit for a replacement.

anyways.....my x2 4200+ booted up just fine on all 4 of those boards. the first board shipped with bios version 16. the next had version 13 and the last 2 both had versions 18.

I'd go with a board from the AN8 series, either the AN8-Ultra if you don't plan on using SLI or the AN8-SLI if you do. I think they're both nice, well-rounded boards; they're very overclockable, they've got a copper northbridge heatpipe, and they've got a Port 80 display for help in diagnosing problems. You also may want to pick up a Guru panel if you like its features. Newegg has them back in stock for now but the AN8 series has been discontinued so I don't expect their supply to stick around for too long. The only lingering issue I believe the AN8's have is that some have reported having issues with Dual-Core systems freezing with heavy USB usage - check out the ABIT forums and read up on that before you make any decision.

mostly seems to affect people with X2s who are doing large file transfers using USB2.0

usually it seems to be several Gb but it seems to be people using external HDDs reporting it so whether it's an issue that also affects Flash memory ... .

1 have 2 questions

1) do i need to install teh soundmax card even tho i have an audigy? can i just leave it in the box?

2)wtf is up with all the damn usb jumpers? do i need to do anything special to them?

If you aren't going to use the Audiomax don't plug it in (just leave in the box) & don't load drivers for it.

The jumpers are there to disable power to the ports when the board is in standby should you so wish.
They are normally powered to allow for wake-on-keyboard or mouse but not everybody likes that.
