None of which answer my problem.
I cannot go over 2.9Ghz.
I Don't think its my chip maxing out, Wether its my motherboard i dont know.

Voltages are:
vCore: 1.35 I put this up to 1.375 when i try to go over.
RAM:2.2
NB: 1.5 to get it eve to boot over 2.9Ghz i have to have this at 1.7, the highest setting.

My spec is in the sig.

Keep upping the Vcore or try Auto. NB 1.56 or Auto. Whats your FSB/Mem ratio? 1600/800 ??? Try 1700/800 Unlinked

Carey8, does the bracket on yout Tuniw push up against the capacitors at the top of the motherboard? Did you mount it with the fan blowing to back, or blowing up?

To assign, change, or remove a drive letter
Using the Windows interface

Open Computer Management (Local).
In the console tree, click Disk Management.
Where?

Computer Management (Local)
Storage
Disk Management

Right-click a partition, logical drive, or volume, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.
Do one of the following:
To assign a drive letter, click Add, click the drive letter you want to use, and then click OK.
To modify a drive letter, click it, click Change, click the drive letter you want to use, and then click OK.
To remove a drive letter, click it, and then click Remove.
Important

Be careful when making drive-letter assignments because many MS-DOS and Windows programs make references to a specific drive letter. For example, the path environment variable shows specific drive letters in conjunction with program names.

Ye it does. So i had to mount it blowing up. Bits out, gets taken straight out by the PSU.
Bit of a pain but it does its job.

At the minute its at 1600/800 yes, unlinked.
Ill go and try 1700/800 unlinked in a sec.
What is a safe voltage to go to though? i dont want to fry my chip with volts.

You cannot reassign a boot partition drive letter though. Anyhow had to reinstall again from scratch because an in place upgrade just left the drive letter as D:

Done now. Had enough. Been up all night slaving over this.

Try 1.35 and keep upping the voltage or try auto. Safe? I don't know what would be safe when overclocking. If you try 1.5 Vcore or lower SHOULD be fine. I think max voltage from Intel is 1.35Vcore. What do you have for cooling on the NB and SB? What are your CPU and Core temps?

How to restore the system/boot drive letter in Windows Link Can be done just don't think it would of helped. So when you clone the old HD (ide) to the new one (sata) was the (ide) in the D:\ drive position?

How come im having to go so high on the voltages though? Do i have a dodgy chip or mobo?
How can it be Max at 1.35vcore if i can set it to 1.4 etc etc...

Cooling i stock on SB and NB.

Temps are:
34*c @ 2.8Ghz
36*c on NB or SB, ive just had a mind block and cent remeber which one it is. DUh.

The max is what Intel recommends. Your going to need cooling on the NB ( small fan) and I would put a small heatsink on the SB. If you plan on running in SLI mode make sure its a low profile one and that the VC will fit before you install it. The NB is the big heatsink SB is bare. They both get really hot. Put your fingers on them. That could be why you can't get any higher. Look at page 92 for some ideas.

Mine dont seem to get that hot. I dont really wanna fork out another £15-£20 for another heatisnk.
I cant see as that is going to hold me back, as they dont seem to get hot enough to not be able to touch.
Also if i remove the stock NB heatisnk, its going to void my warrenty.

I said a fan and a heatsink 7.00 USD and it will hold you back.

the one problem i have with all other coolers is that to get the same if not only slightly better cooling performance/quietness, u have to shell out twice the money and be forced to remove the motherboard to install.

I think this board has a "hole" at 400FSB ....
For those of you who has problem running FSB at 400MHz, you might try to lower your FSB to 395MHz (1580 in BIOS) and set RATIO to 9 .... let see if you can get your system statble .. If it is, raise FSB by 2-5MHz at time ...

Carey, I put an Akasa AK-210 on my SB - should be fine for you. I similar to the Coolermaster, and is readily available on Ebay. Still come with fan you can put on the NB.

I cant find that Cooler anywhere that delivers to the UK.

Put a tie wrap in each hole of the fan and make a small loop. Pinch the loop to make a point and wedge the four tie wraps between the fins on the heatsink. Easy

400 is near the top end of the strap, 425 is where the strap changes. FSB holes are at 419-423FSB for me on 0202. With 0401 I have found no holes

the holes only apply to E6600 and possibly higher clocked cpus. things might be diff if ur e6400 was able to have multiplier set at 9

btw, ran a 3dmark06 with current set up and new 8800gts, got a 8784 score, this vs the 8414 someone else posted earlier with stock clocks on his e6600.

Even E6300 and E6400 have problems from 400 - 425. Same with the P5B Deluxe but the strap change for that is at 401FSB. Try 425x8 with your E6600

Went back tot he 0202 bios late last night, and overclocking was no better or worse than the 0401, so back on the 0401.

Carey8 - No, the £60 I just spent on cooling this system has not improved my overclocks one bit so far. Right now I am quite disappointed. Will play around a little more with the tuniq, etc, tonight and over the weekend, but if things don't get any better will just go back to the stock cooling and sell the Tuniq and HR-05 on Ebay.

Well, at 3.15GHz, core temps seem to have settled around 44/45 celcius, with a very occasional jump as high as 47. Been 9.5 hours orthos stable now.

Are those temps good for that clock?

So me buying cooling for my mobo on the NB and SB is pointless then?
Could i have a dodgy mobo?
If theres a slight doubt ill RMA and say theres something wrong.
