There's a new version of cpu-z it shows the throttling effect of the Enhanced C1 (C1E) This is the effect of C1E (Enhanced Halt State) and/or EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology). Load your system and you will see the frequency increase to its nominal value.

Well, have decided to change my goals for this setup.

My original hopes for 1600 FSB, 800 memory, and 3.2 CPU are not going to happen...

So then I thought, I would try for a 1500 FSB, 800 Memory, and 3.375 CPU, but I don't seem to be able to find a stable voltage for the CPU at that speed - resets self before orthos fails.

So now my aim is 1400 FSB, 800 memory, and 3.15 CPU, but to keep my temps below 40 - which should be doable wit the Tuniq. It annoys me when I look at the Anandtech review of the Tuniq and they have an e6600 running at 3.73 and staying below 50 celcius, whereas I am only clocking my e4300 to 3.15 and getting those temps...

Failing this, I will probably sell the Tuniq and the e4300 and go for a e6400 and try again for my original goal...

My settings now,system stable

Speedstep activated,CE1 activate.
FSB 1333,VNB 1´39,vcore 1´3000,memories 800Mhz unlinked
The cpu are about 6x333 = 2000Mhz at 1´050v and 9x333 =3000Mhz at 1´300v in bios.

I'm planning on putting a P5N-e SLI into a Lian Li PC-A16 with a Zalman 9700. To all other 9700 users: Does the cooler hang over the top of the motherboard much? I am concerned that the cooler will be in contact with the bottom of my PSU.

Welcome Aboard shashou
I know their are a few members that have it installed. I know one of them will chime in. The Freezer Pro works great, a lot lighter and you don't have to bolt it down.

What temps do you get at load with your setup core2? Sorry if I have asked already - my brain not fully functional this week...

Thanks Core2. I live in Taiwan, and haven't seen Arctic Cooling products after looking through all the stalls at the computer market here. I have found Zalman and Thermalright.

When I get everything up and running, I have 130 pages of posts to sift through to get the most performance out of my new rig. Maybe I can even add some experiences.

As you can see from my sig, I don't upgrade all that often.

My chip runs super cool look at some of my screenshots on page 92. I think the combination of the freezer pro and using MX-1 for thermal paste has helped. Those big HSF like the one you have run better if they are positioned so the weight is downward. Once you tilt the case I believe the torque from the weight of the HSF effects the performance of the product. Browse through Intel's web site they explain how weight and torque can effect the cooling of the processors

Thing is, I currently have my pc's guts spread all over the floor as its easier than always putting in and taking out the cooler and motherboard each time, and so it is currently lying on its side with the cooler standing up, and its done nothing for the temps.

I will try again tonight with the thermal compound that came with the tuniq...

When you say your temps are super cool, are you keeping in the 30's?

Edit: never mind my question about the temps - I can go look at the screens you took (like I said, brain not fully functional)

Page 92 is a good start for info. I have to update some of HSF options.

I would say that you should do as well as I have with the FSB. 1900FSB is the last stable point I hit the rest to 1950FSB was just for fun. I run MemTest86 1.7 off of my USB flash drive. What kind of problems? You can do it from a floppy and I think you can download in full format from their web site.

Try some MX-1 if that paste does not help. Put a good pea size dab dead center of the chip and place you HSF on and rotate it a little while putting some downward pressure.

Load 100% about 42c at the FSB in my sig. My chip also does not need much voltage so it will run cooler. I guess I lucked out when I bought it.

I have a busy morning and I'll be away from my computer. If some of you can help out with questions that would be great. A lot of the answers are on Page 92
Thanks

At your FSB of 1800 if you could run your ram at 900MHz or 1:1 at 4-4-4-12 2T would be about the same performance as running it at a 1000MHz at 5-5-5-15 2T. Really no difference. Run a Super Pi 1mb for a test or 3Dmark06 and compare scores. You should be able to run your memory 1:1 at 1800/900 4-4-4-12 2T. Here's a Super Pi score running memory 1:1 and a higher FSB. http://img442.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot009sd1.jpg
