Yah, tell me what it is and what it is suppose to do but it doesn't tell me anything about how to load the driver for it, where the driver is, and whether it should even be enable in BIOS or not. Its like reading a government publication. 20 pages and nothing is said that helps.

I just noticed. I have been here for less than a month and I have gone from a Rookie to Senior Member. Boy, the promotions are great around here.

OK I'm ready to flash my bios now. But I don't trust floppies any more than Core 2 does. How does one go about flashing a BIOS using a USB flash drive? My flash drive is 256MB

plug it in and reboot. select ezflash in the bios

find where you put the file on the flashdrive

BTW I am finally in dual boot euphoria. will be able to start doing some extensive 0401 testing tomorrrow

Question, would it best to flash to BIOS 401 before I start Over clocking? Everything is still at stock speeds and voltages.

honestly, you may just want to try the 0202 first. see if the board does what you want it to with that one . if you aren't happy with it or just like to tinker, well then you have the 0401 to try out.

Cool, thanks, I'm going to take the plunge in the morning (I'm off tomorrow and the wife works all day). Was a long day today and am a bit tired. Don't want to try something new in that state.

I flashed the BIOS to 0401 and now all I get is a blank screen when trying to enter BIOS. Windows loads fine and works but I can no longer get into BIOS.

i think this is what core2 noticed as well. i think you then have to clear the cmos.

Fixed by clearing the CMOS.

when i install this board which sata ports should i use out of the four, or does it not make any difference.

i'm not completely sure it matters, but i am using the two closest to the back of the board. not sure if they are marked sata0 and sata1 or sata1 and sata2.

one thing i have noticed with the 0401 is that i have to keep going into the f8 boot menu or it comes up saying no disk. i may just have the boot config set up wrong but didn't have much time to check it last night.

i have used it in the past. the ghost limitation is just that it works for 15 days. it's supposed to be fully functional during the trial period.

this supposedly works as well and is functional for 15 days

Well, its time to start OC'ing now that I have a stable system.

i say up your fsb to 1600 (400 quad) up NB voltage to 1.39 and keep mem speed to unlinked and 800 mhz and se if she boots and works normally on stock volts. should give ya an easy 3.2ghz

on a slightly off topic note, does anyone know how to remove the floppy drive and cd rom drive bezels on the p180b they seem like theyre gonna snap if i force em off!

I am already there.

Should I work on the HT or MEM or both at the same time to calculate the 1:1 ratio?
