Im still at 1500 FSB coz i still cant get over 1500 and get a stabil memtest.. i can no problem run 1800fsb with no errors in orthon small but guess theres something else wrong.. but the hell with it hehe.. ill wait on a new bios.. maybe that will fix the problem..

BUT.. have been tweaking my rams aswell..

Got them to 1150Mhz 5-4-4-12 T2 before they started complaining.. but that still gets me a 14000+ in everrest in read only mode.. so im pleased but dont need that much CPU power to use IE and see movies anyways

Just a little update from my side

Nice job on the ram. I still haven't pushed mine. I should of went with the Dominator's too for another 10 bucks stupid move on my part. Those are hand pick Micron chips. I still can't figure why your getting mem errors at higher FSB but can run at 1150mhz with no errors. Are you into Football Super bowl Sunday here in the US.

Did you try upping the NB to 1.56

Yeah Nb is running at 1.5.. have tryed 1.7 aswell.. same thing..

Its a weird thing with this board.. have heard that i can push these rams to 1250 by upping the volt to 2.3.. do u think the rams will take damage of that?

Football aint that big a deal over here.. we have soccer haha.. i like playing Madden on my 360 tho ..

where in the us are u from btw?

Soccer is that a sport ha ha ?????. Know of a good mod for the 360? I wouldn't push 1250 I don't know if your warranty would cover that if you burn them up. Make sure you put a fan on them if you try.

Edit Connecticut

Yeah.. using the firmware mod myself.. working like a charm. have been using it since it came out.. no need to buy a modchip since the fireware hack does the same thing.. get it to work and ill kick your ass in your own sport haha

And soccer does suck big time

I still dream of comming to america some day.. thinking about joining a chat room and finding a fat chick and get her to invite me so i have a place to live while im there MUhahaha what i whould't do to come there.. hehe

I'm using the 8x multiplier.

Without that voltage, ORTHOS would fail at varying times, regardless of what voltage I set the chipset at. I think I just got a poor overclocker.

As for the cooler, I'm using a Zalman CNPS9700LED, so I don't think cooling is a problem (at least for the CPU). The thing is a monster.

From reading and limited experience, so far, I would have thought upping the frequency and loosening the timings on the ram would give better performance with the Intel chips. Interesting, your results with SuperPI seems to say the opposite. I am waiting on a NB heatsink replacement before I go any further.

Whoops, SuperBowl time! Gotta shutdown...

AFAIK that's not recommended as the leads can act as antennas, introducing noise in the system, decreasing stability.
Ah man, you took the joy right out of that idea. What do you do? Attach mini clips to your volt meter
I'm never metering anything for more than a few seconds so I just use the long probes. Another problem with leaving a meter attached is the meter's slight parasitic loss. Not an issue on the +5 and +12 rails, but you really want to keep your vCore, vMem, and other low voltage critical loads clean.

All was done at 400x8 =3200MHz --- Auto vcore, Auto NB, vdimm 2.17 for 800MHz 4-4-4-12 1T and 1066MHz 5-5-5-15 2T , 2.25 for 1143MHz 5-5-5-15 2T

#1 OC 400x8 ram 800MHz 4-4-4-12 1T

#2 OC 400x8 ram 1066MHz 5-5-5-15 2T

#3 OC 400x8 ram 1143MHz 5-5-5-15 2T
#1 and #3 are very close, with #3 just being a slight bit slower. From what I've read, SuperPi scores increase at low latencies, but I've also read that 3D Mark scores go up with high frequencies. #3 might be the sweet spot. How about running some 3DMark on those two for comparison?

What a game, I'm glad Manning got a super bowl ring. Now the press can quit hounding him!!! (HUGE STEELERS FAN Here)

Damn, miss a couple days of this thread will cost you an hour reading. This thing is moving fast. Just looked at the page 92 Tips and Basic OCing. Great job John and all that helped out. I've been very stable at 2.9. Will be tweaking on it again this week. Looking to get at least 3.2, then I'll work the ram and be happy with my new gaming rig.

I tried running my ram with SLI enabled however it defaults to 1T even when I change it manually to 2T... still posts as 1T so I disabled the SLI

I did read this and reseated my memory but still happens:

Repeating (endless loop) Memory error Check for improperly seated or missing memory.

**switched to the yellow slots to see if that helps**

Set it to EXPERT in the SLI option and it won't do that. Run memtest 1.7 check your ram for errors One long Beep is a memory error

I set it to EXPERT and manually changed it to 2T and it still boots 1T and won't load windows.

In addition, CPU-Z reports my Bank Cycle Time (TRC) as 1 clocks... that doesn't seem right and I didn't see where I could change that in the bios.

I really think the fact that my Bank Cycle Time (TRC) is being auto set @ 1 clocks is my crashing problem.. shouldn't it be more like at 16?? I read tRC - Row Cycle Time:
The minimum time interval between successive ACTIVE commands to the same bank is defined by tRC.
tRC = tRAS + tRP

I'd really like to be overclocking mine, but life is hell right now. I worked almost 60 hours last week and I'm getting married in less than 2 weeks. Free time is hard to come by right now

What do you have for heatsinks and fans on the NB and SB. Sounds like the NB overheated

Hey all, I just wanted to give you an update on my problems It turns out that my Motherboard *WAS* hosed. I got a brand new one from Fry's and started all over, very slowly. I've put together some pics of my assembly, which consists of the following:

P180 Case
E6400
eVGA 7950GT (Nvidia)
Scythe Ninja for CPU Heatsink
HR-05 Heatsink for NB
Zalman Heatsink for SB

2 Gigs Corsair XMS2 Dominator PC6400
WD SATA 300 Gig HD
Two other IDE HD's from the past
SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

So far, everything is working very well. I haven't overclocked yet, but I've set the RAM to 4-4-4-12 2T (per specs) and have run Memtest+ for 9 hours without any errors. I'll continue to do more tests and will eventually overclock. I don't see myself updating my BIOS to 0401 unless I absolutely need to.

Thanks for everybody's help!

Question, What direction does the fan on your Arctic Freezer Pro face?

On my way out the door for work, will check back later. Thanks

Out the back of the case. You have to trim the fan housing in the lower left hand corner and bend up the bottom fin up slightly. I will update the tips page with that info.

Core2 may I ask a question regarding your Arctic Freezer 7? Does the height of it extend past your video card? I have an Asus 7600GT Silent with a swivel heatsink above it. I want to know whether the Arctic cooler would interfere with the swivel heatsink which sits slightly above the video card height as I will need to swivel it above the CPU fan due to my case layout.

Thanks.

Your bios screen shot the 12volts and 5volts are on the low side

I didn't pop the side panel off. It looks taller than the VC if that is what your are asking. Dimensions are 107w x 96.5d x 126.5h mm or 4.96 or 5 inches tall

I installed vista yesterday and updated the drivers. Everything was working fine overnight. This morning my system has rebooted 4 times already and each time there are 4 of these errors in the event log:
IRQARB: ACPI BIOS does not contain an IRQ for the device in PCI slot 7, function 0. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

One says slot3, slot5, slot6, slot7. I have a pci express video, a soundcard, and a raid card so I don't know why there are 4 errors. Any ideas what is causing this and how to stop it?

Go into the bios under PCIPnP and change Plug & Play OS to [Yes] see if that works

It was already set to yes. There are no yellow ! marks in the device manager. I used msinfo32 and looked under the hardware conflicts and sharing and there is no conflicts detected.

Actually i don't have anything aftermarket on the NB or SB. just a very breezy case.. what are the top NB,SB cooling options?? i know that there are options on Page 92, but is that your personal preference as well???

Core2 - I noticed on 106 that you mentioned low voltages on the +12 and +5. This is an issue with me, I believe, as well.

+5 - 4.89
+12 - 11.78-11.84

PS or MB? BFG states my PS is fine. Not sure on the MB though...

No, most are members input I have two of those small chipset fans on the stock NB. SB I have the Zalman heat sink. I also have a 120mm fan attached on the side of my case blowing cool air on the SB,VC an NB. Plus two 120mm case fans front intake and rear exhaust. You need a fan right on the stock NB heatsink. If you use a aftermarket heatsink you still need a fan with it. The NB gets HOT!!!!
