seems on my board the yellow slots fair better in oc than the black slots. and i can't seem to use 4-4-4-12-2t in any setting other that default, any kinda oc and it hangs at bootup. currently at 350mhz fsb, gonna try to up it some more tonight, really want to hit 1:1 800/1600 stable. want to get 1t too but it's unstable at 1t timings regardless of other settings.

hard to find time to mess with the bios when i'm trying to get me a flying epic mount in burning crusade.

I also got the 25c but never know where the hell it came from?! I have 2 fans on the heatsink, 1 is 120mm silenx 1800rpm blowing & 1 is Vantec Stealth 1500rpm, the chasis fan at the back is the Arctic Cooling 1500rpm.

How did you make out with your ram? I almost bought those. I ended up with the PC8500 which I'm happy with. I can't hit 3-4-3-9 1T. The best I can do is 4-3-3-9 1T. I guess I can't complain there rated for 5-5-5-15 at 1066MHz

I work step by step from your guide with 1200MHz then 1300MHz... with spec. 3-4-3-9 1T & SuperPi32M & OCCT each time, so keep increasing FSB 100MHz till 1600MHz (3600MHz) with Multi 9 (for Multi 10 I can hit 3500MHz solid with divider 13:16, will try pushing more to test tonite) And I use a bit more vdimm above spec. at 2.26... to make sure the ram got enough juice. And set my vCore 1.50. I like this ram but I really need to find out how to get the divider control by myself. Now I am using Unlink but only the FSB & mem speed I can control. The divider is AUTO & dim so can't modify. The mem I still can't figure out... all I can boot up at most is 450MHz (even with 4-4-4-12 or 5-5-5-15 2T) nothing can be done pass 450MHz, the PC simply hang at first screen, & most of the time I saw this happened, I need to reset the CMOS & leave only one ram in order to boot back into BIOS & load the OC profile back tehn put back the other ram back to work again.

Core2 your ram is at C5 but you still run them in 4-3-3-9 which is extremely nice work already. And I think we just need to explore the way to get the ram bandwidth up then we should be good to go, but this might need to wait for the next BIOS update again.... this board has great potential but the BIOS still need to be mature a bit more.

Did you try switching ram slots? Those are some nice OC's. What kind of temps you running with that E6700? I get better benchmarks scores at 800MHZ 4-3-3-9 1T then 1143MHz 5-5-5-15 2T

John ( Core2),

I hope you arn't married because I'm hiring Carmen Elektra and everyone of the Pussy Cats to come over to your place with a note saying do whatever you want to them. I got my computer fully working. I had to completely set EVERYTHING for the memory on the mobo, including FSB, Hz, and the timing and junk, but I got the list of those numbers from the manufacturer and the computer has been running great for over a day now, without being turned off. Thanks a ton!

If the mobo is still at 45c is that too hot? I live in Denver so it's not that warm right now, but my apartment has the heat on most of the time. What should I do to keep the mobo cool? I looked at the fans on pg 92, but I read the reviews and they seem sketchy - at best. Would you recommend any heatsinks or something else to keep my bad boy chilly?

Thanks again for all the help!

now that ur system is stable you should post ur specs so ppl can use it as reference when working on their machines. i do believe john is married, but i'm sure his son will enjoy that visit from carmen, i know i certainly would.

since u live in denver, turning down the heater or leaving a crack of the window open should chill ur system pretty good.

Hello

I have been reading this thread for a while now, but this is my first post. I come frem Denmark and i am not so old, so excuse me if my english is bad

I am having some RAM problems with the motherboard. The problem came, when i switched from at 7800GT to a 8800GTS GFX. Before i could OC my ram to 1200mzh with no problem, and no errors in memtest.

But when i changed the grafixcard i started experiencing some problems. First i thougt it was the GFX but then i run Othos and got failure... And i thought that was really odd.
Then i ran Memtest and got ALOT of errors. So i started changing some BIOS settings to see if it would help, but nothing so far has help'ed. I have tryed almost everything that i can think of. More Volt, easy timmings and T2 and so on... disabling everything i BIOS i wasent using.
But still no result (errors)

Then i testet the ram in the yellow slots, and then i couldent boot XP. then i have tested each blok seperatly, with no errors :S ???

So.. Is it the ram, motherboard GFX??

I really need some help here, because im going to a big lan soon, and my PC has to be ready.

The 1 thing i though was odd was that, this happend when i changed GFX, and not before.

switching to that video card makes me wonder if your power supply is inadequate and can't provide enough juice to power ur system. what kinda psu do u have and are you only having problems during oc or even on stock clock?

All this is on stock speed.

I am running a Antec Phantom 500W PSU (semi-passiv, fan only start when PSU gets to hot) i doesent really seem that, hot and it should provide enogh power to this system.

But why should this make my ram fail? i dont understand that part.
The bad thing is, that i dont really have a larger PSU laying around so i can test it.

Its a good suggestion, but is there anyone other that has a suggestion?

I wasn't even able to get mine to 5-4-4-15-2T at 800MHz, though 5-6-5-18-2T at 1000 seems to be working fairly well. I certainly couldn't get the EPP settings to work correctly. As far as the heat, mine are warm to the touch, but definitely not scalding. What voltage do you have yours running on?

That video card takes a lot of power. If your total required power is more than the the psu can give, your ram oc or your cpu oc could start failing. I am not familiar with antec so I don't know how good it is. Is it a single rail or dual rail on the 12v line. Also what are the amps on the 12v rail?
On an unrelated note, nVidia has released the vista drivers for the 650i chipset. I have installed them and so far no issues. I am still having that acpi error in the event log though.

For those of you who are interested. I just added a Voltage Comparison Table ( Thanks to Nevets Drassel ) to the bottom of page 92.

Hey, Thats good to here. I guess I better go out and get some Taco Bell if their coming. I have three of these Antec 761345-75120-9 120mm Case Fan blowing in my case and they can cool things down quick. If your not going to overclock the system then the fans will work. If you are, you need to put a small fan on that big heatsink ( NB )and I would put that small Zalman heatsink on the SB. What program are you using to monitor your temps? Use Speedfan. Page 92 has the link and instructions to install it

Edit: Put your system setup and settings in your sig and you will be an Official Member.

Welcome Aboard Barslund
I would have to agree with what everybody has said. If you can try another PSU do it. ElAguila has a 610W PSU for that eVGA 8800GTS that is in his sig

Don't look at the log! Wait till they get the bugs ironed out for that new OS. It will probably take a few months to a year. Keep checking for updated drivers. Dual boot with XP till then

Quick question about this board. How far can oc the pci express bus before you start getting data corruption on the drives? I think I have mine set at 105 right now.

I personally wouldn't bother, you won't see any tangible changes other than more errors

Hey all, I just wanted to give you an update on my problems It turns out that my Motherboard *WAS* hosed. I got a brand new one from Fry's and started all over, very slowly. I've put together some pics of my assembly, which consists of the following:

P180 Case
E6400
eVGA 7950GT (Nvidia)
Scythe Ninja for CPU Heatsink
HR-05 Heatsink for NB
Zalman Heatsink for SB

2 Gigs Corsair XMS2 Dominator PC6400
WD SATA 300 Gig HD
Two other IDE HD's from the past
SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

So far, everything is working very well. I haven't overclocked yet, but I've set the RAM to 4-4-4-12 2T (per specs) and have run Memtest+ for 9 hours without any errors. I'll continue to do more tests and will eventually overclock. I don't see myself updating my BIOS to 0401 unless I absolutely need to.

Thanks for everybody's help!

Your bios screen shot the 12volts and 5volts are on the low side
Sorry, I'm a complete clutz when it comes to voltage.

What should I do then, exactly?
Is my power supply bad?
Do I need to increase the VCore/Dimm/NB voltage?
I've noticed in some previous posts that the BIOS voltage monitor isn't completely accurate, so can we even say with confidence that the 12V/5V rails are actually on the low side?
Also, as a general question, what's the deal with vdroop? Why do we worry about it?

ZOMG My first official post... what should it be about...

Hmm...

EDIT: I know now!

Anyone that can recommend a sound card for this mobo that is pretty decent in the less than 150$ or so range? I can't stand the onboard sound, it's killing me... almost literally.

I hear that Creative or some company sound cards have severe issues with the nVidia chipsets, just don't want to waste time with RMA's and stuff. Let me know thanks!
