hi folks !!!

i am new in this forum and enjoy this discusion because a can't wait untli the Day this board will be available ( 1 or two weeks ) here in Germany !!!

Well the reason why i enter the discussion is to inform about a new review of this board !!! (7th January 2007)

There are good reasons to watch this review!!!

First : 2 x 1GB GSkill F2-8000PHU2-2GBHZ DDR II set to run @ CL4-4-4-5, DDR2 800MHz, * 1T on P5N-E SLI and P5N32-E SLI // How did they do dis ????
Second : If you read carfully the review ... the bios used is : current 0307 BIOS !!!! Watch out there seem to be a new BIOS !!! Maybe that's the caus for the succesfull 1T !!!

Watch the review at vr-zone.com !!!

Try this CrystalCPUID When you open the program Click function and select Intel Enhanced Speedstep Control choose your multiplier 6,7,8 click apply. Voltage does not work the last time I tried

Welcome, ferrero
I would think Germany would of had this board before us.
There have been a few beta bios floating around and they have been nothing but trouble. Stay away from them unless you know somebody that has tried it and had success.
Germany produces a lot of good beta bios I am surprised I haven't seen one.
Maybe its because no one has the board.
Come back and join us when your up and running

sucks they send ppl to newegg to buy it when Directron.com sells it for cheaper.

Why do you get a commission? What are your return policy's? I'd do business with you if you can offer what they do. I sometimes buy my boards from ZipZoomFly they offer a 30 day exchange and free shipping on most orders and the Egg sometimes only offers 15 days like this one and chg shipping with inflated prices. I paid 134 free ship from Zip

what do you all think of using something like this to blow air on the northbridge heatsink?

http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=75018#

Also, I read here to use the black slots when running two sticks of ram to help stability. Well when I did it caused all kinds of stability problems. My system has been a lot more stable running sticks right next to each other (1 black, 1 yellow). Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

This thread has been amazing so thanks to everyone for all the help and suggestions.

from what i understand, if u run different colors slots, u're not running them in dual channel mode.

Ya thats what I figured as well but when I tried to run in just the black slots stability went out the window. I couldn't get anything to work well.

I'm having the same problem with my board. I've tried three different sets of 2x1GB memory and it will not run in dual-channel mode without massive instability. It doesn't matter what timings, speed, or voltages the memory is set to and it does it in both the yellow and black slots. However, the board is rock solid if I run the memory in single-channel.

If your are stable I wouldn't worry about it Maybe they did a good job on your heatsink.
You would lock up if it was hot

what is the best app to monitor the northbridge temps?

Look back through the posts there are sensors that are cheap that you can put on.
No software that I know of I don't think there is a sensor on the board or ProbeII would show it

That one has me stumped. Where did you purchase your board. Maybe they will give you an exchange You can call Asus and see what they say I'm sure there aware of whats going on
See if its running in 1T on your ram timings in duel channel. May have to clear the bios then and reset your timings manually

what does everyone feel a safe temperature (per coretemp) is to take my 6400 up to? Right now I'm running at 2.9ghz and showing temps of 58C per coretemp. I'd like to push up over 3ghz but I don't want to have it running too hot.

This is on stock cooling by the way. I know its not optimal but we are currently house hunting and any further part shopping is off limits and I plan on rebuliding my watercooling setup after we are settled.

Also, I'll be updating my sig with all my details after I get home tonight and experimenting a bit more with RAM placement.

Put a good HSF on that poor thing. 85c is the cut off and the chip will throttle back and you would probably freeze. I wouldn't push it anymore. Wait till you get settled

I've had mine up to 70C physical on core sensor. 69C for core 0 and 70 for core 1 that was at 3.7ghz orthos full load for 20 minutes.

as John has said yes there is. it normally involves some sort of thermal paste and a heatsink. the thermal paste is a thermal conductive type adhesive that will hold th heatsink there and give you thermal wicking properties.
