The POST memcheck when it sometimes loads will read the full 2gb, so I don't think that's the problem but I can try again.

Any idea why when it does make it through POST, that I cannot install xp64 let alone have windows recognize that there are 2 hard drives installed on Sata 3 & 4? The RAID controller I am using in the windows preload screen is the jmicro 363...

Can you get into the bios

IMO the tuniq tower is overkill.

you can get the ninja which weighs less and is very balanced with most of the weight at the base. i had the ninja on the board you have and it was peachy.

I can get into the BIOS maybe 1/10 times... every other time it locks up and I cannot do anything but reset or power off.

When I first started using the P5B Deluxe (about 4 mos ago) a lot of people were having trouble with OCz Memory. Has the bios updates fixed that

Put your ram in the black slots only. In the bios set your ram to manual and set Voltages and timings to spec. You could have a raid problem too I don't do raid setups so if that doesn't help you'll have to wait for someone to chime in to help you. Try the black slots firsts

I decided to splurge a bit on the RAM since I saved a bit for my e6300
I want to overclock to over 3 gigs without any worries.
My board hasn't arrived yet, but I've heard about lots of memory compatability issues.

Take a look at this list

Well, once I get home tonight I will try that. They are currently in the black slots now because of the problems I remember hearing about people using them in the yellow (although I thought 0401 fixed that).

The spec timing is 4-4-4-12 with I think 2T?

edit was for the clock cycle from 1 to 2[i/]

Where did you get your Raid drivers from? I hope you didn't get them from Asus site. Go to Nvidiia's site and download them from there.

Change that 1T to 2T. Not to many people can run 1T and that could very well be your problems

It does peak at 43C briefly. This is after I've let the MX-1 settle for a week or two. Is that high? I'm not sure how much the temps would increase if I overclocked. My core voltage drops as low as 1.26v while under full load. Also, is 21.125s for a 1M super pi at stock speeds any good or just average or what? Thanks for any input.

Those temps are good for an E6600 so is the Super Pi. The MX-1 will still bring those temps done a little wait for a month to get maximum results

I got them from the supplied CD that came with the motherboard and created the disk using their itility.

I will check out the Nvidia RAID drivers also tonight. I will also manually set the RAM to 4-4-4-12-2t @ 2.1V.

Is there something I am obviously missing though with the HD. Should the BIOS recognize the HD's at all since they are on the SATA lines? My only recognized BIOS device is the DVD-RW and the Floppy. Do I have to configure the HD before going into the XP setup or should it do it for me with the correct RAID driver. Do I need jumpers at all on the drives (currently in the 3.0gb/sec jumper setting). I have done SCSI drivers before, but never a RAID setup.

Also, is there a reason why winxp64 wont load all of the way when winxp32 will?

i have raid, you need to enable the options in bios. im not by my pc right now but there are two things you need to do.

you have to enable the individual drives in the bios as well as enable raid mode. if someone has some screenies of those selections i could be more specific

adder...

... i thought that I found the places that i needed to enable it but it still wouldn't work. what is the file extension on the RAID driver for this board?

some screen shots are here.

also, should the drives be showing up in the main part of the bios where the DVD-RW is also present? the only SATA drive visible is the DVD-RW...

Hey guys. I just joined this forum because I just got a Asus P5N-E SLI. I have also ordered a E6600 CPU, a Hiper 580w modular SLI certified PSU and 2Gb of Corsair 6400C4 Dominator memory but reading some posts I may have made a mistake on the memory? I am not into overclocking but would like the option to do so maybe at a later date. I also read that the memory I ordered might not be hand picked Micron but Promios which does not OC very well?

Any tips for making my system work well appreciated. I realise that using the black DIMM sockets is recommended. But any other tips for getting the best out of my system I'll gladly recieve

One other thing. I will be running 2 x Asus 7600GT Silent's (I hate fans) mostly for video playback. Not big on games but it's nice to have it there if I need it. Hoping that there will not be too much of a problem with heat. Case should be well ventilated with 2 x 120mm and 1 x 80mm rear exhaust.

Do you have your voltage settings on Auto or Manual. Try setting them all to manual

They are on Auto, I'll change them tonight when I get home.

Thanks

Quick update on my watercooling start last night. I got about 1/3 of the tubing ran and then took off the stock HSF and was freaking out, my cpu IHS is REALLY concave!!! Stock cooler was only making contact with about maybe half the IHS. A ring around the outside and about the size of a dime in the center was still smooth from my application of AS5. I dropped the apogee onto it immediately and it made slightly better contact, but it was really discouraging. I have no idea how I was seeing decent temps with the cpu loaded with folding the last couple days. Anyone else have a problem with a non flat cpu IHS?

Also, i flashed to the 0401 without a hitch before i stripped it down. Didn't even have to reset the bios, thought that was odd. It reset my OC settings, but I put them back, and it booted like a champ.

Go with the Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) instead the Corsair 6400C4 Dominator haven't worked out to good (Promos Chips) look here DDR2 List
Edit: This board will run hot ( read through this whole thread for Tips) so make sure you have more than enough cooling especially the NB and SB

Sorry, I'm not going to take mine off to look my temps have been exceptional. You should always make it a habit to clear the CMOS when flashing to an upgraded bios to make sure you get the full potential of the changes IMO

i am using nvraid, without issue. my jmicron is disabled
in nvraid configuration i have nvraid set to enabled
and my sata drives are on sata1 and sata2 which are both set to enabled.

I live in the UK and the place I buy from the Ballistix is £258 for 2Gb compared to the Corsair at £195 (Which I thought was expensive). I am pushing it a bit on costs already.

but after 2 days i shut down to install something into my pc and it wouldnt boot. i had the good ol fans spinnin lights on but no posting syndrome.

this is a problem that i have seen is independent of ram brand - the xtremesystems.org thread is chock full of them. i can get my pc to turn on but it is a PITA. i have it on now, i ordered a gigabyte dq6 yesterday from newegg, it shipped this morning at 10am and it is on the truck for delivery as we speak (i live 30 minutes from their jersey warehouse)

so i am done with asus completely.

Then look through that DDR2 list and find the cheapest ones that have the Micron chips in your region. I have the Corsair PC6400C5 5-5-5-15 and they seem to run fine to about 900MHZ. They should be a lot cheaper than the Dominators The 8500CD Dominators are fine the 6400CD are the problems. Hope that helped

Sod it. I changed my order to the Crucial Ballistix. £60+ more but I'd rather not have the issues I have read about with the Corsair. I hope I have made the right choice.

BTW we are really getting ripped in the UK on memory prices.
