I have the timing set that way, 6-6-6-18 2T and it doesnt come up 1T. But most of the RAM settings are on AUTO (except for the 6-6-6-18 2T setting). the RAM I'm using is G.Skill PC2 6400 with that timing.
It was unstable in 0202 and 0401. I did clear the CMOS when I went from 0202 to 0401.
Is there some other setting I should play with? Everything is set to AUTO except the timing which is forced to 6-6-6-18 2T. If I set the timing to auto it comes up 6-6-6-31 2T. Maybe I should try that? My recollection was that was ALSO unstable.
Nothing I've tried so far has allowed RAM to work from the YELLOW DIMM slots, any suggestions? Or are these slots essentially useless?

What are you using to test your memory Memtest 1.7 in Dos.
No running memtest 3.5 in windows..
In addition, disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

Done that
Just runned a sandra benchmark test.. running with no problems..

It is SUCH a pain to replace a motherboard. But I am getting more and more disenchanted with this one due to the apparent instability of the Yellow DIMM slots.
Is there some other setting I can try? Is it likely a problem with the DIMMS themselves and this motherboard? Like I said the 2GB PC2 6400 modules work fine in the black slots using dual channel access. When I move them to the Yellow slots and keep all timing the same, using 6-6-6-18 2T just like the RAm is rated, the system becomes VERY unstable and will rarely boot into windows at all.
Has anyone gotten this MB to work with 8GB of RAM? Should I just bite the bullet and replace the MB to save myself pain in the future? What's a fast, stable MB for 64 bit Vista for a user who doesnt need to overclock.

You can't test the memory properly in windows. Where do you live? I can't figure out the language

Seems like only benchmark and testing programs are crashing

my VDIMM is set to whatever the default is. Other than setting the timing to the manufacturers specifications what would I change to get memory to operate more reliably in the yellow DIMM slots?
You mention VDIMM, kicking it up a notch, what value would up a notch be? I'm not sure what the default is. The memory is rated to run at 1.8-1.9V. Should I kick it up to something like 2.0V? Will this have an adverse affect on anything?
Are there other memory parameters I should try? With memory rated to operate at 1.8-1.9V how far is too far? Are 2.013 and 2.085 both completely safe? I don't want to fry my RAM in any way.

set vcore to auto and try orthos small fft.

Is it possible this RAM is BARELY compatible with this MB hence the need for the BLACK SLOT only useage. And future 2GB ram that can operate at higher voltages would be more compatible?
At any rate, should I shift from AUTO down to 1.920 since that's the lowest setting, to provide max stability etc with this setup? Perhaps that would allow the YELLOW slot to work. But I don't see an option to go lower than 1.920, unless the newer 0401 BIOS allows that (I am not at the machine right now so looking at the manual).
