That is at a room temp of 75F. Whats confusing is that the program Core Temp reports 60C at full load vs. Speedfan 45C at full load.

It's Core Temp 0.95,right?0.95 shows correct temp values, because at room temp of 24C(75F) there is no way core temps can stay as low as 45C.What cpu temp asus probe II measures?

So i guess my temps are good too then? Core Temp 0.95/SpeedFan/Asus Probe II shows 46C at load, room temps 22C, that is E6600 no OC with an AC Freezer 7.

Probe II CPU Temp is the same one as Temp 1 in SpeedFan,but CoreTemp doesn't read or display that temp. You'll have to give me Temp1,Core 0 and Core 1 temps in SpeedFan,than I can tell if your temps are ok.

Temp1 36C
Core 0 33-35C
Core 1 33-35C
Temp1 40C (maybe mobo?)

@load
Temp1 38-40C
Core 0 44-46C
Core 1 44-46C
Temp1 40C (maybe mobo?)

Q-Fan enabled on CPU and case fans
Strangely enogh the MB temps are always araund 40C

Your problem is your cooler, "Core2Duo E4300 @ 3.0, Zalman 7000B-AlCu". I had a Zalman 7000cu and gave it a shot, but that old technology was just not efficient at getting the heat away from a hot chip like a C2D. Get something better with heatpipes. We have the same chip, look at my sig.

Of course, you have to ask yourself if the price of a new cooler is worth 100mhz. IMHO, it's not.

Also, again E4300 owners, to the best of my knowlege, only the LATEST version of Core Temp is correctly reporting core temps. http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/

Zalman is fine for E4300,but it won't be for Q6600.You see, when Q3 price cutt kicks in I'll be probably buying one of those. So,while you're still active at this forum just one query:I see you have Ninja with hr-05(on NB I pressume),so they fit together, right? Also, does Ninja fit with stock NB heatsink, and maybe a 60 mm fan on it (they are usualy 25 mm thick). What temps Ninja gives you at 1.4 v (if thats what you're running at). Thanks very much in advance.

Anybody else with Ninja, how does it fit and how are the temps?

Is anyone using both pci slots? I have a tv tuner and looking to add a good soundcard soon. Just wondered if their was plenty of space for both on this board. I've never used a non-integrated soundcard, but feel it's time to upgrade my sound quality I have a single pcie video card and don't plan to go sli. Thanks

By the way I just replaced the northbridge heatsink with the Thermalright HR-05 and added the ZALMAN ZM ? 32K Heatsink to the southbridge. I also repaired the broken 4th pin on my arctic freezer pro It's running perfectly and looks sweet.

At load, Asus Probe II reads 40C for the Cpu, 39C for the mobo.

Speedfan reads, 40C for the CPU(temp 1), 39C for temp 2 (mobo) and Core 1 and core 0 both read 45C.

Those are all at 100% load with Folding at Home running.

Core Temp program version is 0.95 and it shows both cores at 59 to 60 C under the same load.

IIRC while running Orthos, I think Core Temp showed as high as 64C. This is on a fresh build that has been running only 3 days total time.

If CoreTemp 0.95 shows Tjunction temp of 100C which I think it does then you're well within safe limits, because in case of Tjunction temp of 100C thermal throttling starts when Core 0 and Core 1 temps are at 95-98 C.Conlclusion:you have another 30 C headroom.Still, watch your core temps when you start overclocking.

Thanks CikaNovo. Yeah, Core Temp shows TJunction of 100C. I'll just have to be careful when I start to OC. I'll also see if I can't find a way to lower the temps some. I'm still used to running my Opteron 175 and a 3700+ San Diego processors. Even my lowly P4 Northwood (2.4 Ghz) ran a little cooler under full load in a case with bad airflow.

no, not at all. ive moved from an ata133 based setup to full sata300 and i can feel the difference, hdtach also points it out.

are you running vista? that will slow your disk access times with the default services on.

Hi Guys,

Not sure if I should start a new thread, or ask for advice in here.

I have a new P5n-e system, and generally it is working great, but I've had a few problems with it.

This is my system:

ASUS p5n-e
2GB G.Skill 800Mhz DDR2 Ram
C2D 6600 + stock fan
Corsair 520W PSU
Leadtek 8800GTS 640MB

I'm not overclocking anything and checking the temps in Coretemp the motherboard does not go above 43C and the CPU is idling at about 31C and I've not seen it higher than 40C under load.

None of my problems are major, just annoying, but any help appreciated.

1) I've noticed when I turn on the computer there is a pause(black screen) of about 10 seconds, then post info comes up. Is this normal?

2) Sometimes when loading windows, the desktop appears, but it then hangs (mouse appears, but no taskbar or icons) for about 5 minutes, then suddenly continues to load.

3) I get blue screens when using azereus(sometimes after 5mins, sometimes after 5 hours) - I have run memtest from a boot CD for 30 mins and no problems found. I only seem to get these crashes when using azereus. I can play CSS for hours with no problem.

Currently I am suspecting dodgey drivers rather than hardware.

TIA

I must sadly say that my P5N-E SLI system has become totally unstable. BSODs, I get PFN_LIST errors, KERNEL_PAGE..... My USB harddrive doesn't detect from time to time.

I wonder if it is my Antivirusprogram Panda Antivirus + Firewall is crashing my computer.

i had this problem. i found resetting the bios for 2 minutes and then reseating all my memory (really force it in) fixed it.

yep, i think its all do to with seating the memory properly. its very hard on this particular motherboard because they've chosen to make it so the part where the memory goes doesnt have any support from behind.

i found taking it all out and really giving it a push in hard sorted it

NCQ is enabled by default. You can check the status by opening your device manager, IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers and double-clicking on NVIDIA nForce 430/410 SATA Controller, then looking in Primary/Secondary Channel.

As for your voltage mods, those can be found here.

Hope this helps

Such that I won't remove it ever again, unless someone lets me know any special trick with it...

OK - anyone - is there a special technique that anyone uses to remove the battery ? On all my previous boards it has been simple, but this one definitely isn't

Ok I'm currently running Orthos blend and it's stable after 5 mins so far.

FSB 1600/Memory 800. Vcore is 1.3625, Vcore offset Auto, NB 1.59, Vdimm 2.013.

Core Temps reports Core 0 & Core 1 running at 72-75 C under load. It doesn't want to go past the XP Splash screen if I lower the NB Voltage so it stays where it's at. CPU-Z reports Vcore of 1.35, Asus Probe reports Vcore of 1.31 under this load. Going to let it run for a couple of hours and if it's still reporting no errors I'll run a Super Pi mod 1.5 doing a 1M and maybe a 32M run to see if it coughs up any errors.

On a side note, While memtest reports no errors after 24 hours of running, during the POST screen it shows 2096128K memory OK, 2097152K installed. Every other program reports the full 2 gigs of memory, any ideas as to why I'm missing 1024K in the post memory test?

Edit: Well spoke to soon, computer locked up 12 minutes into the orthos run. rebooted and upped the Vcore offset to +100 and trying again
