Spirit breaker actually being played as a main carry spot instead of support!

Bringing the pain for liquid vs alliance. 10-5 now, spirit breaker leading the kills with 4-1-4.

Especially impressive considering how alliance totally trashed liquid in game one. Not sure if liquid will pull out a win, alliance has been pulling some amazing wins, but it sure looks like spirit breaker is working in this match.

edit: nevermind! minutes after my post, alliance turned things around bigtime. 23-13 alliance favor now and mid rax broken. Spirit Breaker kept charging alch, the tankiest player on alliance team, and failing to kill him every time. Should have been charging and killing the softer supports first imo.

It was good to see SB for sure. I was torn because Teamliquid holds a special place for me as they're the biggest Starcraft community in the west and they decidedly picked Dota 2 as their official game for coverage over LoL. But then I also didn't want to see Alliance breaking their 10-0 streak.

SB was great to see but TL's loss was written on the wall from early- Alche having stupid farm at 10 mins (Shadow Blade + Midas + Boots WTF) vs SB getting Urn & Treads. So Alche's safe farm wins.

The supports of either team are a wash.

Then, we're left with mid. SF should at least snowball early, as SF could never carry hard as Alche. But SF didn't do anything special while Alliance's mid Timber also got a scary sizable farm. We know Timber is strong with little to no farm. But give him mid? Not good at all for TL.

I was cringing the whole time while rooting for SB. They had a moment of shine when they did a nice teamfight at T2 mid, but Alche was too much. He outright had double GPM and double networth by 20 mins.

I hope to see SB again. That being said, I'm very happy to see Timbersaw picked too many times already. It's almost as if everyone agreed to hide that pick until TI3, then everyone reveals it.

I can't stand it when teams pick 'creative' heroes just for the sake of being 'creative' without a clear plan.

Why the hell did Dignitas pick Zeus as a support? Stupid. He's running around underleveled and 3 branches + Boots at 18 mins. Painful.

This goes with all the top teams - they're not just one-trick ponies, and they all have strategies and heroes they can play if their "favourite" heroes get banned.

Dendi playing Lone Druid makes sense. Syllabear is an awesome solo mid hero, and Dendi is an awesome solo mid player...

Also, Entangle is a passive ability. The stuff the casters say about AdmiralBulldog's skillshot entangles are jokes. Having said that, there are ways to sometimes increase the chance of it happening.

The casters were screaming entangle... LOL

I agree... basically they may be testing which line up they rather deal with... you're not a pro if you are just a one trick pony... one reason I would say out of my 200 losses on my record, at least 100 (maybe more) was due to one of my friend always picking Spirit Breaker no matter what the line up is. Either makes the wrong charge decision or gets baited and we lose

Is there a decent voice translator for Dota 2?

I found a semi working text translator but that doesn't work for the goofy Russians who use voice....

Huh? What do you need?

Most games are cast in 3+ languages: English, Russian, Chinese, and even Korean.

[edit]
Oh you mean for pub games. You shouldn't cater to their language when you've checked 'English' in your settings.

Just use chat wheel- they're translated in to the client-end's respective language.

Between chat wheel + pings + basic english words (back, go, stun, etc) + item notifications (gather for mek/pipe/smoke!) = You shouldn't have much problem communicating.

Valve really should do something about restricting people to their respective languages. I don't think it's fair, in a team game, to have people speaking only Spanish, or Russian, or Esperanto, or whatever, on an English server. Some of the worst games I've had have been with people who had never spoken a word of English, playing on an English server, while the enemy destroyed us because we had no semblance of teamwork whatsoever.

At the same time, and on a somewhat unrelated note, it's also incredibly frustrating to see a Russian bitching the entire game about how he's Dendi on a Russian server but the reason he's feeding is because of his 400ms ping on an Australian server. Well, no shit, Sherlock. What the f did you expect?

Unforuantly there is nothing they can do. A lot of those that speak other languages cue for english simply because it is the fast time to find a match. I just finished playing a game with someone who spoke I have no idea what and they wouldn't just the preset things and instead would spam !!!!! like crazy and did it when it wasn't obvious at all why they were doing it. It was frustrating that's for sure.

Sure they can. They can add more servers, they can introduce a report category for being an all-round dick, they can make it so that the number of reports you have at any one time is tied to the number of games you play in any given day/week, and if someone reports a player for communication abuse because they're just using their mic, chat, and pings to annoy everyone else, then they should be punished in some meaningful way.

The worst is when I have two Spanish speakers (qued together) and two Russians (Qued together) and I qued in myself all on the same team... they would go at it against each time when we are losing

Watching Ursa absolutely eat people was a lot of fun this weekend.

And I don't see how MUFC got invited to the International....

They should have a report category for refusal to speak in native server language. It wouldn't need to outright ban people, but it should prevent them from queuing on those servers for extended periods of time.

They should also do mic/no mic only servers. I'm sick of people just alt+clicking as there way to plan a gank, or taking 10 seconds to type. Just speak people...

I know. I was very impressed with the MUFC of last year, but since their roster changes they don't seem to be at quite the same level. I was really impressed with how Ohaiyo and Net played, and both of them left for Orange. XFreedom is now playing for Zenith (who, as it turns out, seems to have an amazing roster). So now they have a bunch of new people and they just don't seem to work together very well.

The Chinese teams are really coming out flat this year. Looking like it's going to be Euro dominated for the top spots. Seems like Na'vi and Alliance can be penciled in for the 1 / 2 finish.

Navi started out terrible in TI2 last year, then they finished #2. Will have to see when elimination takes place.

That's the beauty of group stage. That 14-0 means nothing. Everyone starts even for top 8 teams in upper bracket.

Same goes for the other half 8 in loser's bracket. Any team can rise to enter the grand finals, including MUFC.

Last year Navi had a terrible group stage but still came in at second place. LGD had the same flawless 14-0 at group stage but ended up coming in third.

The thing I'm most surprised about is the resurgence of Naga Siren. It's interesting seeing her played as a carry in TI2 vs seeing EGM play her as a hard support

Yea Naga has seen her rise before TI3- not as primary carry but still good with net, minus armor, and that sleep initation.
