I'm psyched to see ALL matches. It's the motherlovin' main event!

I'm torn because I normally watch the matches in-game for the game's maxed graphics @ 80fps. But if I do this, I'll miss all the stage & crowd shots of the arena...

If I watch the stream, it's laggy as hell and quality is garbage.

Which?

Get two monitors like a real man and watch both!

I'm torn because I normally...

A: Watch the matches in-game for the game's maxed graphics @ 80fps. But if I do this, I'll miss all the stage & crowd shots of the arena... the pro player reactions, etc.

B: If I watch the stream, it's laggy as hell and quality is garbage.

C: I can do both with my dual: monitor + HDTV setup, but then the game will lag.

Which?

I prefer watching the game from the in-game client as well; smooth as hell, crystal clear graphics, plus if I want I can click around to different areas on the map than what the casters are focusing on.

It seems like Alliance is going to win the tournament, at least based on the prelims. LGD has been shining though and are a solid team; even if they don't win this year, I'm betting they are going to come back next year a lot stronger. Navi is always fun to watch.

Alliance is a great team, no question, but I wouldn't count out the others. I felt like na'vi was testing a lot of oddball ideas and not necessarily trying to win every game at 100%. I think they could have done better in prelims if they were trying to win every game at 100%.

Also...

"But they are still many people’s pick to win it all. Dendi wishes they weren’t. He wishes they were an underdog, an unknown, but if they are going to have that pressure – bring it on – they will crush them all."

Wishes they were an underdog... how do you go in looking like an underdog? You do poorly in the prelims. Hmm.

You are in Seattle at the International 3's Secret Shop??!?!!! ***SHAKES FIST***

I wish I was at the TI3. I'm just talking about the Valve store website, I think I read they would update it as TI3 was going on. I hope that is case at least lol

It's true that the prelims were a chance to experiment with new builds and such, but still Alliance just seemed to win consistently against every team they played against.

Who are you favoring to win?

The main event pre-show is in full swing NOW.

http://www.joindota.com/en/livestreams/3489-ti3-english

Thank GOD they got a competent MC/host that knows how to talk it up. Typically eSports have awkward ass dorks as MCs. The commentator desk looks sick and professional too. Big steps up in production compared to last year.

Who are you favoring to win?

Am I the only one who's not rooting for any team in particular? I just want big upsets, big surprises, and good quality games. I want Alliance to win as a new comer. Yet I want Navi as the favorite to win... because they're Navi. AND I also want the Chinese to make a comeback and scare us all in top 4.

MUFC vs Teamliquid...

MUFC is 0-14. The casters are talking about how embarassing and rage inducing it would be if MUFC beat TL.

The lower bracket if best of 1. 1 loss, and you go home. If MUFC goes 0-14 then wins one game and sends TL, THAT would be hilarious.

I have a feeling about why Alliance chose LGD.cn.

I think that Alliance don't want to face LGD later on in the tournament. Since they're in the winner's bracket, the only way to ensure this is for LGD to lose early, knock them into the lower bracket, and let the lower bracket teams (and the other knocked down UB teams) try knock LGD out early.

At the same time, Alliance feel they're the only team that have a reasonably high chance of beating LGD. I think they feel that the other UB teams haven't had that well a showing, even iG. All the teams in LGD's group weren't able to beat LGD 2-0, and Alliance aren't willing to take the chance of LGD getting too much momentum. The only team that beat them 2-0 was Dignitas, and they're in the lower bracket.

On the other hand, if they lose, Alliance drop into the lower bracket, and I think they feel that they can beat the lower bracket teams relatively easily.

What do you think?

Well, Alliance. Haha. I just don't think it's a given they will win, but if I had to put money on it I think they are the safe choice. I think Na'vi have great potential to win as well.

Wow Navi doing great against Orange so far in the 3rd match; pretty interesting to see such a degree of teamwork.

Wow, this in-game thing is pretty sweet. My only complaint? I don't know if I missed it, but they really need some option to display casting language! It took me a few minutes to even figure out how to switch streams while in-game without having to exit out and jump back in. :$

EDIT:

I'd recommend that they use some small icons on the in-game spectator window. Put a camera icon to the left of the top combo-box and a speaker icon to the left of the middle combo-box.

This has been suggested many times. Knowing Valve, it's already implemented in their test client.

Oh God... They sent their token female sideline reporter to interview the crowd. It was painful. It's obvious she is a reporter because she isn't phased by these super-nerds. There was a tree-fiddy reference and a guy wearing a Brony t-shirt, who said his "friend" thinks Puppey is cute.

Is this Sheever?

You should see Reddit talk about her.

So, twitch chat wins again.

The Dota 2 player said to the League of Legends player, "Dota 2 is a much better game." The LoL player couldn't deny. >_>

No, Sheever is a subpar amateur Dota 2 commentator.

The chick is a seasoned local fox news reporter- brilliant move by Valve. She handles the event/herself/idiotic bonafide nerd audiences with shitty awkwardness very well.

I wanted to punch them for being so god damn stereotypically miserable nerds. Jesus learn some social skills.

I want this $249.99 Butterfly:

28" long... that's pretty friggin huge.

[edit]
Nevermind, this Demon Edge is frigign 50"... that's a full blown sword, comes up to your belly.

Finish it with this Vanguard... about the size of your 24" monitor:

This reporter is actually very good and I agree great move by Valve. She handles everything in stride and keeps things moving well. I like her even if she has no idea what is going on in the game.

I agree with Sheever. I don't care for her personally.
Need more Purge, I like him. He knows his shit even if he himself isn't considered to be that good he breaks stuff down and explains why some stuff happens the way it does when it isn't clear.

You can tell she's a reporter because even with little knowledge of the game, she knows how to ask bait questions and the right probing that keeps the interviewees going.

Purge is good. But I want my Lumi & LD. They're the best casting duo of entire Dota 2 imo.

Lumi is legit with long ass experience as the content manager of dotacommentaries.com since Dota 1 days.

LD crushed other casters with his insight on the Asian scene last fall while Tobi and others knew nothing about them.

You know casters are good when they make predictive analysis that are spot-on rather than just reading what's happening play-by-play (Tobi).

As for Twitch chat, I was laughing my ass off when Maelk was making awful jokes where no one was laughing (white guy second from left on the desk). The Twitch chat went 'THEON GREYJOY DISBAND'.

I laughed so hard. LOL. He does look like Theon of Game of Thrones.
