I don't think so. It is an item for supports, and 2k gold on a support is significant. Having it cancel TPs doesn't really add a lot more value to it. Supports will still pick it up because of the fairly cheap build up and the utility. The added bonus of canceling a TP would be just that, a bonus. How often are you canceling TPs? Does it not cancel Engima's ultimate?

The ability to move 600 units in combat is tremendously powerful. Judging by how often it gets picked up, it's not in any need of a buff.

No, force staff does not cancel channeling abilities. This includes black hole.

From my recollection of my dota playing days in 2005-2007, silences did not affect your ability to tp.

I am pretty sure it did cancel it. I wish I could search for more, but work has pretty much everything blocked.

No, FS never cancelled TP, not ever.

I played unhealthy amount of Dota 1. Icefrog would never introduce a super cheap 2000g mass-able item that would both push and cancel TP.

FS was incredibly strong when it was introduced because it was: Quarter staff (900) + Staff (1000) + Recipe (200). It gave +9 damage, +15 IAS, +10 Int, and ability to push. Just about every semi-carries and supports got them. It never cancelled anything from day one.

I could see someone convinced that FS cancelled TPs since it moves enemies, but Orchid (silence) canceling TP is just silly.

Eh, maybe not. But for some reason I remember it doing it. But, then again, I hadn't played Dota since around late 2009 / early 2010.

I also don't see why a silence would be silly for canceling a spell.

TP is not a spell. It's using an item.

I know it's not intuitive since TP is the only item in the game that requires channeling.

Dota 2 is fully of crazy, consistent, and inconsistent mechanics.

Anyone remember when Phase Boots first came out? It gave +5 armor (Chain Mail + Boots + Claw or Recipe). That's straight up +30% EHP if you had 0 armor.

So all the supports hardly died... and armor wasn't as easily given back then either.

Everyone bought Phase, including carries, over Treads... although Treads gave +10 primary stat instead of +7.

When silenced, you cannot use TP though right?

On another note, are there any Dota 2 heroes that play similar to HoN's Monkey King? I really love the playstyle of that hero and wish I could find something similar in Dota. Doesn't even have to be so "omg wtf pubstomp" either. >_>

Yes, you can. Silence does not prevent item usage.

Hex, Doom, Pause, etc. all prevent item usage.

New development in NaVi after TI3.

XBOCT tweets:
It is unfortunate that your fate lies on a couple of useless idiots. Thanks for all the support but I don't think Na`Vi will continue with the current roster.

I think I saw a brief clip of Monkey King long ago.

He skips back and forth and continues to deal increasing damage through his combo yes?

Bristleback is your friend. Scary pubstomper when you dive tower at level 3 (with 1-1-1). At level 6+, he becomes quite fast too.

Bristleback is totally different. >_>

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddaamg5zdkE explains his skills. He just has a lot of fluid movement in fights and I really like him. His combo is more similar to Tiny than anything Bristleback does.

Yea I saw that vid long ago. Just saw it again.

As much as I think Dota 2 is the best in the genre, it's good to see other MOBA's own creative take on heroes. Monkey King looks very fun to play. There's no hero like it in Dota. He resembles various elements of following heroes:

1. TA/Puck: Highly mobile and cycling 3-4 active skills with short CDs.

2. Bristle/Tiny: Stackable combo/damage output

3. Xin: Agility semi-carry with 4 active skills with skill-shot combo output & insane zig-zag mobility with his ult.

Xin gameplay

They have a puck clone (Bubbles) and a bristleback clone(Armadon) already. >_> A lot of the Dota heroes were simply cloned over when HoN first came out. Monkey King was their first original hero I think. Some had minor changes (Like Rampage is SB + Bat Rider's Ult and Aluna was basically a changed Windrunner), but the core heroes were the same.

Monkey was just so fun to run around on, and it didn't hurt he is like the best mid / pub stomp hero. The last HoN game I played I ended up getting 2 immortals (15 kill streaks). 15 kills, died, 15 more kills, then we throned. Just the mobility is so fun.

I also have a question about Earth Shaker, and since I am on my way out can't test it. If I am Dire and go bottom on Earth Shaker, can my Q block creeps, or at least force them go to around near ancients so I can pull / deny them?

This was fixed.

Even when it was working, it was not worth spending more than half of his mana... just to push the other lane (which screws mid for offlane's sake).

Man some of the attitude that players have really aggravates me; just played a game where naix dc'd for 4 minutes, then finally comes back and just hangs out in the jungle literally the entire game while our base dies. Then he has the nerve to talk smack over the voice chat.

At least he had an excuse (being DC'd). I played a game as Earth Shaker and ganked mid twice and safe lane once (I was long lane) and both of those lanes lost anyway...

Well, don't think I've won a game on this account solo queue. I should probably stop picking gankers and play a carry, but that is boring. =(

I just want one team where the lane I am not in doesn't lose.

As Bastion says, "Nobody likes to play support, yet everybody likes to win".

If you want to win, play support. If you want to win your lane, play support. If you want to be a nuisance to the enemy team right from minute 1, play support. If you want to be thanked by everyone worth getting thanked by, play support.

Arguably, playing support is harder than carrying, but it forces you to learn a whole lot of stuff about dota mechanics you wouldn't learn otherwise, and it teaches you about positioning, warding, pulling, stacking, and generally getting gold and exp when you can. Most importantly, it teaches you how to play from behind, because as a good support you'll almost always be under-leveled and under-farmed and an easy pickoff for the enemy team.

Playing support IS harder than playing carry. Good supports dictate the pace of the game, and are the ones who get stuff done early game. Of course, just sitting in lane with your carry, soaking up XP and trying to out last hit him doesn't make you a good support

This is actually why I try play offlane or mid whenever possible. I'm so sick and tired of laning with people who don't know their role in lane - carries who can't last hit for shit, and supports that (because of their higher base damage) last hit.

I once had an omniknight keep taking last hits from me, and when I asked him to stop, he said to me as AM, "if you can't get last hits maybe you should practice more".

The worst is when you are playing support and the idiots on your own team don't understand why you are under leveled and lacking items/gold. Or why you sacrifice yourself when you see a gank coming for the carry and he didn't see it yet and when you sacrifice yourself so he has enough time get away safely and in the end for any/all of the above your team gives you shit and starts calling you shit.

I prefer support roles, but man pub games can really aggravate you sometimes.

I almost always play support and gank. I love team fights and I love going in. I will pick someone like Sand King and be the support / initiator. But, even when I gank mid at level 2, my mid loses. My carry gets zero farm or feeds top with a babysittier. My Chen buys a courier 3 minutes into the game after I've already bought one and upgraded it.

My annoyance of the week:

You have 3 carries on your team, and one of them insists on jungling, so you get a support-only lane.

My favorite was we had 2 carries and I said at picking part I'll play a support Lina. When we get in game I buy a courier and we start going to our lanes and they are all like Lina you go mid. I was like wtf? We had an Outworld Destroyer and I can't remember the other.
