I agree though, the Dota 2 community is ass and the report system is trash. I tend to stick to solo queue's if I play, to avoid team stacking reports if you don't perform well or do what your told in game.
I think I read somewhere that the reports stacking doesn't do anything. It's the frequency and spread of the reports that matters, so like one report in one game is just as "relevant" as 2+ reports in one game. This is to prevent people ganging up on you.

Btw if you want to play some games on Dota 2, PM me. I play on US East.

I know right? I'm actually a decent person. Shocking! And to think I actually expect others (like yourself) to keep your word on basic things, at least the second time around! I guess that's expecting too much of people though, especially when there's no accountability present on the net.

Btw, I think perhaps the problem with lots of people (on Dota especially) isn't thick vs. thin skin, but what's underneath it (bloated egos with absolutely zero fucks given for whether or not they're being a complete asshat).

I don't really get it. Are you saying I'm just as bad as them?

I've talked back/given people shit on occasion, but they always instigate it. And I doubt others are doing the same as me, given the frequency of BS that is out there (not to mention that again, I never start shit). Some people do it all the time too, simply because they can. And I never instigate or start anything. Like ever. You will never catch me calling someone an idiot out of nowhere.

If this is a reference to my earlier post, read it again. They instigated, and insulted me (after I was perfectly polite and reasonable), so I just had enough. That's the 1% I mentioned earlier.

"Zero fucks given" is a must for playing online games like DOTA2, SC2, etc. - there are always going to be a ton of asshats that will say or do anything to get you riled up. You have to get into the mindset of "zero fucks given" and play to have fun and learn. You're getting all riled up at Zeze and he didn't even do anything that bad.

I didn't even do anything, lol.

He just suddenly threw my name in there in his rant. I haven't played a single game with him or anyone- since I've quit. (not counting the bot game to check out the new patch)

So can someone explain this "stealing" kills from your carry thing?

The problem in the lower skill levels is that I've played with a lot of carries who are really bad at last hitting, so I snag a couple kills and they get all furious on me. If I sit back I watch them miss all the last hits, so what am I supposed to do in this situation? Just let the enemy take all the last hits?

I can understand at the higher levels where the carry knows how to last hit and can snag up the kills and deny, but at the lower levels players are just bad at last hitting and yet they still get all pissy at you for "stealing creep kills", which is just straight up annoying.

It looks like you know what it is: when a support (or specifically, someone who is perceived to need gold less than the other person in combat/lane) takes farm or a kill from a carry.

You're right, lower levels oftentimes suck at last hitting, and will scapegoat supports who take farm that they would have missed anyway (EX. as CM timing your slow attack to last hit a creep, where any person worth their salt can beat CM's slow attack speed to claim the last hit).

Not like carry roles are that important in lower tiers anyway. You can carry CM down there...

As a rule of thumb, if you're not going for the last hit don't hit the creep. You might not be going for CS, but hitting the creep especially when it's close to dying ruins the timing for last hitting. The most annoying thing I can think of is a support who tries to be helpful by attacking the creeps so they get into last hit range quicker - I absolutely hate it but can't tell them to stop because then they get mad cause they were "trying to help".

Even if you are CSing, just think about it. Who will benefit more - a support that gets 50 last hits at 10 minutes, or a carry that gets 20?

Moral of the story...just don't.

Yeah, if you're a support, go for the deny and harass. Don't even bother targeting the red creeps.
Additionally, you should be super-sharp doing recon on the mini-map so that your carry can focus on LH. And clicking on the enemy to see their items. There are a million things to keep you busy instead of attacking your carry's LHs.

At the low levels, let your 'carry' practice their timing. Offer them constructive criticism. Teach them how auto-attacking is disadvantageous.

I suppose; it's just that half the time the carry just auto-attacks or misses the last hits and then sucks as a carry regardless; if I can snag some kills then oftentimes I can help win the game even as support, in the lower tier skill levels. There are times where I ended up being becoming a makeshift carry even though I picked a support character because the main carry sucked.

If I see some herp derp auto-attacking, even if he is carry, you bet your arse I am going to snag those kills though. At my current victory rate I will probably move into a higher skilled tier soon though; currently my victory rate is something like 75% which I know won't last (currently at 70 wins).

If I do see a carry that is genuinely at least trying to last hit, then I will back off as a support and let him do his thing.

At the low skill level, telling a carry how to last hit: "STFU and don't tell me how to play!" is the typical response.

Well, in addition to the other million things a support can do. You can add some civil partners to your friends list. It's really easy for me to find a sane carry from my friends list.
I'd suggest you add me, but I mostly play support, so I won't usually be your carry. But, I can be your 'sane'.

Maybe once I get into the higher skill brackets; right now I play chiefly AR every game. Maybe once I have 100 wins under my belt I'll start going for specific roles.

Don't wait. Getting into a regular duo or team with voice com will make the game soooooo much more enjoyable.

Despite the silly drama you people have in this thread, any of us make better partners than a random. If we can put the drama aside for long enough to put our headphones on and boot dota2, we should be on each other's dota list.

My steam ID is already in the thread. No, I'm not L33t. Yes, I listen to in-game advice.

*Sad Dota face*

My current victory rate is also around 75%. Well, until yesterday when I was playing Dota and I got a phone call I absolutely had to take. We were winning and I was on the phone for about 5 minutes, during which I was auto disconnected from the game for being inactive for more than 2 minutes. I returned and my team and I eventually won the game, but I got put in low priority because of the unintentional disconnect.

Being in low priority really shakes your confidence. I was going about 7-1 wins to losses before then, and I was almost about to have overall more wins than losses. Suddenly, I start losing games and questioning what I'm doing wrong? The last few games I go 1-3. I realize that the quality of players in low P is so much worse.

There are 2 problems with really bad players:

1. They pick a carry and you attempt to support them, but it turns out they are so awful that not only do they screw the carry up, but they also screw YOU up (eg, I'm playing Omniknight and letting Weaver have literally every single last hit, but this idiot puts 1 point in Swarm and keeps casting it while in the LANE, runs out of mana, and dies because he can't Sukuchi away). So now I'm poor as hell, Weaver is poor as hell, and there's a fed Drow on their team from this guy. GG.

2. They play support and don't understand what to do at all. Like I drafted Antimage and I'm playing in a lane with Dark Seer, and of course he spams his magic orb every chance. He actually wasn't awful, but he didn't understand how to help me win. There was also a Leshrac who was truly awful, ended up 2-18.

Yep, playing in low priority makes me so sad. :'(

LPQ matches are interesting because of the amount of people not giving a fuck and doing their own thing which seems like an all out deathmatch style rather than team based

I'm so close to uninstalling this game.

I have like 20 losses out of my last 25 pub games. Every single game it is guaranteed that I have an idiot on my team who feeds and gets 5+ levels behind by 25 mins.

I find the voice thing to be annoying. It seems half the games I play are populated by some non-English speakers (typically Russians or Brazillians) and I can't understand wtf they're saying.

Woah you can cast the necronomicon ability from couriers?

This reminds me of the old days of regular DOTA when you could load up a bunch of couriers with dagon's and zap someone dead.

The couriers need mana to cast it.

So each courier has at least soul ring or energy booster each.

That's obviously tons of gold and this is not viable at all, even at low pubs.

Yeah, insta-mute those.

We were playing 4 and 5 man AP and captains all weekend. On Sunday I think we lost one game total. That was even when our 5th man was some random without a mic playing noob viper or sniper.

Would've loved to have you as the 5th.

I'm a pretty sucky player though and don't feel that I'm ready for any kind of organized teams yet; this weekend I played a bunch and it just reinforced how much I suck at this game.
