Yup. I'm GLAD to see this implemented when I spectate.

Basically the pixellation allows the game to operate smoothly without stuttering. Before if you opened up a shop/graphs/charts at the very start of game, there would be micro 0.1 sec delay (complete with sound stalling too) due to so many things loading at once. (And I have a pretty damn fast PC)

Now it loads a 'premature' pixelated version first so the game doesn't have that hiccup. This is also evident in hero portraits and everything.

Very well done by Valve.

This is sort of what I thought it was (if it was intentional). I figured it was a pre-load/buffering/caching thing. However, I assumed it was to decrease load times on the load screen.

The REALLY, REALLY annoying thing is when you're trying to creep block and then some idiot that forgot to pick their heroes finally enters the game, and the game stutters for 0.5s and totally screws up your block.

Thank you Dazzle for picking me up out of a Dota rut! I was losing quite a few games over a few days and randomed him for the first time while laning with a juggernaut(very good combo) and won two games in a row with him. Support may be my best role as I make a very good Disruptor as well...

Isn't the general rule of thumb never spend $ on keys?

Your cash is more valuable than the market value of keys and/or actual items you want.

If you want TA's hair tie, chances are, you can buy the item outright for same money. Zero concern with chancing it with the chest.

I think the problem is the temporary "high" you get when you gamble and open a chest. I'm fairly certain it's designed this way on purpose.

I bought a bunch of keys when I sold that courier for $150 and had a bunch of steam bucks laying around; that being said I was generally fairly disappointed in the results and had trouble offloading the extra dupes I got.

Matched with 4 hispanics on Dire. Okay I thought, they can sort of speak English, so whatever.

Then...

I picked third. I went for OD so I could mid vs. their lack of intel lineup. Naix tells me to get Mekansm because "it will help". Get Mek as OD. Kay.

Anyway, I tell the remaining 2 players left to pick to get at LEAST one support. They pick Silencer and Alchemist. We now have arguably 4+ carries with zero support. Kay.

I was OD mid, doing well vs. BS (I had 2 kills vs. him and zero deaths). Anyway, he goes missing, and I call it THREE times well in advance, at 5 second intervals just to be sure, using the built-in function. Fast forward 30 seconds, and top lane Naix dies to BS, and proceeds to call me an idiot for the next 5 minutes of the game for supposedly not calling MIA. Kay.

Then later, our Nyx uses Vendetta, but stuns out of it, instead of attack followed by stun. When I politely told him how to do it, he told me to "just let him play". Kay.

Some time later, we predictable lost the game. Again, Naix called me the worst OD player he has ever seen, in broken English, with profanity. This coming from the Naix who told me to get Mek at the very start of the game, as OD, and who is blind to MIA calls. Kay.

Mek on OD is pretty good, because it's an item you can rush by 5-10 minutes and because against most mids an OD solo lane is pretty close to having free farm - if you're not winning pretty handily, you're doing something wrong. It's an item he can abuse the active on because he has the mana to sustain it, and he has the teamfight ability to make the most use of it. The reason pros get Mekansm on OD is because straight after they group up as 5 and try to force teamfights and pushes as a team. In a pub it's highly situational - if you have a lineup with decent early-game presence and you have the coordination and everyone understands what's going to happen, go ahead. Otherwise, just scrap it. Go for a forcestaff or something that will increase YOUR damage output.

Most spanish speakers/s. Americans think they are pro - you listen to them, do what they want, and you die along with everyone they blame you... most of the time when you que in with one and you hear background noise its a good shot two others qued with him all at a PC Cafe... regardless, I rather play with them than people in russia...

The reason the Russians and the Spanish speakers play on our American English servers is because they can't stand playing with their own on their own servers - and now you know why...LOL

Brazil servers are filled with worse Brazilians and trolls, according to the ones I've talked to. I just queue US West only. They normally only queue US East. The problem though, is US West gets Australians, who aren't bad, just have a pretty high ping.

Thankfully, most of them aren't good enough to get into the High bracket, so once you leave normal, you don't see too many.
