thanks a lot for trying to help me figure this out mrfatboy, I appreciate the time you spent doing that.

Corsair looks great, don't get me wrong, but honestly guys now I'm considering this....that way I have some room to grow...and it looks stellar:

http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php...67ce52b8ecdf3c8eaf6cf1

Modular as well, and 28Amps on every 12v rail! Actually x2 has 28amps (vid cards), the other has 30amps! (system), plus I like all the "guard" features it has for protection/notification, etc...

May as well sell something or rob a store and go for the gold! LOL

Wow that's a good price for the 620 corsair...

That corsair PSU 12v specs are:

18A @ 12V DC - V1Output Current
18A @ 12V DC - V2Output Current
18A @ 12V DC - V3Output Current

Looks like the Enermax one I listed above beats this one by 10amps per rail...but I might just go with the Corsair....not doing SLI, I'm just concerned cause I have 4 hard drives, 3 optical drives and want to be able to power the nicest single slot card at the end of the year available as well as try to overlock my cpu to 3.6, plus I got two 250mm fans with this xclio case + another 120mm fan....and want power for all 3 pci slots available, etc..etc...

What do you guys think?

i am about to buy this board. can someone sum up the known issues? it would be nice if the OP could include known issues in the first post so people dont have to read through 19 pages to see issues people are having.

i read that there are issues with the pci slots can someone explain this?

also, do any of you guys have experience cooling the nb with an hr-05? i heard that it gets quite hot when OCing

Only PCI issue I'm aware of is a space/location issue....with the IDE and SATA ports right in front of the PCI slot area, it's pretty challenging getting a longer card into them correctly...if you have large PCI cards, it's gonna be a challenge if not impossible...the middle PCI slot in particular makes it real hard to use at all IF you are using an IDE cable there...

But most people can work around that.

I had a problem with the PCI slots on my board. If I plug my SB X-Fi into PCI Slot 1, the board won't boot overclocked, I have to use PCI slot 3 and all is fine. I did just upgrade my BIOS recently but I haven't tried going back to PCI Slot 1 to see if it fixed the issue. I might just have a flakey board though as I haven't seen others complain of this problem.

Is this the cooler you are talking about for the Northbridge:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16835109131

If so, looks awesome, I'd love to hear if it fits good on the board while using a Ultra 120 Extreme to cool the CPU. The northbridge heatsink does get super hot on my board!

Bsod's after pressing F6 to load AHCI drivers...why...oh why me....I can't stop it! I don't want to settle for IDE! *update: Well I gave up guys after several hours of frustration...the AHCI drivers simply refuse to install, I've read everything on goggle about this to the point that my eyes are bleeding....I'm going IDE, screw it.

The benefits are negligible. I use IDE as well.

Edit: clerverest, just replied to your PM

Update: Well.....I installed windows (set to IDE) took forever...my dvd-rw kept spinning up and down....I had to hit RETRY on 3 files....one forced me to pop the tray open and close it again just to make the drive spin, then RETRY worked, what a PITA....

Now my windows will not boot....it stays frozen on the splash screen (but the bar moves, although it will stop and move very slowly every so often...then resumes like normal...) however windows does nothing, just stays on that screen....I've tried your settings from page one of the 6750 thread 5t3v0 EXACTLY....no go...I've tried memry voltages 0.1-0.3, NO GO....I've tried loading fail-safe and optimal settings, NOTHING....

Running memtest now on the memory at +2, 4-4-4-12 which seems to reflect the Corsair Ram I'm using....cpu clock is still at 333, other voltages are default.....I have great cooling in my case....new hard drive....

If this memory test passes, what's the next step?

UGH

Check my PM for SATA settings. Have you tried 1 ram stick at a time? Are you still on the old PSU? Dont trust memtest to prove your stability. On some oc settings, I've passed lots of memtest loops & then could never boot windows.

Nope I cost myself decent lunches for a month and got this:

http://www.enermaxusa.com/cata...=21_52&products_id=120

It's purdy and seems awesome so far....

I'm trying both sticks in dual channel mode.....right now I'm running memtest on the 4-4-4-12 (+2) voltage setting and it's passed all 9 tests TWICE...what does that mean and what should I do if I don't get a fail at this point? I'm letting it run a couple more times at least....

:-\...so frustrating having all this new gear and not having it "work"..... thanks dude.

it sounds also like a bad window load. It shouldn't take that long to load windows. Are they your original cd's? Scratches? Cleaned them?

I would delete the partition and install again. Try installation from a different dvd drive. The installation should be smooth and void of dvd problems.

Don't overclock before installation. You could always post your entire bios to make sure you didn't accidently change something that you shouldn't. PITA but.........

Also, you do need Win XP SP 2 for sata to work.

Probably a stupid question, but did you enable AHCI in the BIOS before attempting to install Windows with AHCI?

----> Drexl,

It's in INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS, first option, set RAID mode to IDE, AHCI or RAID, I chose AHCI....

I decided it wasn't worth the 6 hour headache and installed it as IDE instead....now I'm wondering if I should redo it though....(read below)

-----> mrfatboy,

I have an actual original OEM version of MCE 2005 SP2 (I bought it before I left my last job and was waiting for a new system to use it...)

Also I ended up using a different drive and unplugging that drive...only after doing that did the install complete and boot into windows....just gotta figure out how to get this third optical drive reading...

-----> everyone,

Finally Got my computer working, it appears that it was my 3rd optical drive (all of them are using sata adapters) that was causing the problem...this is my burner....they are all set to MASTER and the burner is the only one on it's set of SATA ports by itself (except for the purple SATA ports which I'm not even using because I unplugged the external sata ports while troubleshooting and didn't install the AHCI/RAID anyways)....oh well....

Once I took all my PCI cards out, the external sata bracket and unplugged this third optical drive, windows booted right up and completed setup...now I gotta figure out where to plug my writer in....I love this writer...in fact it's what I installed windows (well mostly....) with before everything went to hell....

Nice one. That's a step forward. Why dont you put the burner in the IDE connector and not use the converter?
