I think I have ignored this thread and wondered if it would ever die to myself for the last 4 months or so. But much to my disbelief it keeps coming back from the dead. So what the hell.......I hate feather\cotton\Down Pillows and Have never tried one of these pillows before. They must be something to gather 950+ posts so instead of me browsing thru 23 pages of posts can anybody recommend a good pillow that is cheap I can test run before I invest in a much more expensive type? Say under 25$

Thanks In advance to all you Foam Freaks

That's funny, I was just thinking the same thing, I read page 1 and then the last page...just a breakdown would be nice, what's best, what's worst, etc.

I'm somewhat surprised so much talk about pillows in what is normally a somewhat geekdom area...nice change though...

Out...

Thanks for the info. You are right............It was hard for me to get used to it last night. I woke up several times. But after years of using normal pillows that get flat I kinda expected it. My neck has been giving me problems for the last few months and thats what pushed me to try the new pillow. I'll sleep on it for a week and report back.

I can tell you that not all Carpenter Co. pillows are the same. I have one from BB&B (Isotonic) and one from JCPenney (called Comfort Zone or something like that). They are almost identical and they both have Carpenter Co. tags (thought the BB&B one has a ridged bottom), but the JCP one is definitely firmer. I can't use it - my neck couldn't take it - but my gf loves it. I love the BB&B one, though. Much more give. The JCP one was $60 for two on sale and the BB&B one was $60 - 20% = $48.00.

I received a Gift Certificate to eBay for my birthday, so I decided to use it on one of the "Sensus" Memory Foam Pillows that I have heard so much about on here. I love it! I've been using a Sharper Image Pillow for about 10 months and have noticed it doesn't feel as good as when I first bought it. So I figured I go ahead and try Sensus. LOVE IT! I got the 5lb Queen Sized one and it feels almost as good as Tempur-Pedic. It has very slow recovery (which I like).

Honestly though, the pillow kind of reminds me of the Costco Novaform Pillow, but a little more dense. But since I don't think they sell Novaforms in Queen size, this is a better fit for me.

I picked the particular seller (AsianFineArt) on eBay because of good feedback and it included a cover for the pillow (something the other Sensus sellers weren't offering..or at least they weren't at the time I was looking a few months ago). This cover is the nice Terry Cloth cotton/poly covers that are used on Isotonic and other Carpenter Versions, as well as Sleep Innovations Pillows (Novaform). The zipper only runs along the back of it though, not also the side like the other mentioned ones.

Overall though what I don't like is the fact that all of these memory foam pillows seem to "wear out." I suppose that's what makes Tempur-Pedic so appealing, since you can return them to Brookstone and get another one when they lose their slow recovery ability.

Hey I was wondering if anyone could comment on my dilemna...

I could get a Costco King size mattress topper which would be about $150 with shipping (they don't have a King size one at the B&M)...you get a 4 lb per cubic foot dense pad that is 2 inches thick.

OR

I could get a Sensus 5 lb density 2 inch thick King size topper from Mark's 1/2 price bedding on EBAY for about 160 shipped

OR

I could get a 3.3 lb density pad that is 3 inches thick from Mark's for about $160

OR

Do you have any other better deals?

I still think Tempur-Pedic is the best.
However, they are also the most expensive since they are THE inventor.

They are having some promotion, you can try their matress free of charge for 90 days, you can decide to buy or return when the time is up.
You also get a free pillow, not sure what size.

They're stackable too, if you want to double your pleasure.
A JCPenney foam base would probably suffice though.
I have a 3.3 lb 3 incher...... and I like it. It sit's on a JCPenney foam base. The best yet but I've only tried Sensus as a pillow, also the best yet....took a little breaking in. I got the pillow from Mark's.

I just placed an order with foambymail on e-bay. Buy it now: $152 + 28 shipping for 3" cal-king Sensus. They also have the 2" Sensus cal-king for $99 + 28 shipping. They also have other foams. Give them a look. Their prices are cheaper than Mark's. But, I have the feeling that their shipping time is inconsistant.

Thanks for the foambymail tip...
I guess my question is...
I want to spend about $150...give or take $10...

What's better...
a 3" 3.3 lb density topper
or a 2" 5lb density Sensus topper...

Seems like they'd be about the same price.

Thanks again!

tough call, but i'd go with the 2" 5lb. i have a 1.25" at 3.3 and it's ok, but it's only been about 3 months and it already has lost some of it's slow recovery. in hindsight something denser(and thicker) would be ideal.

Well I broke down and purchased a memory foam pillow from memoryfoam.net (I think that was the site). I loved it at first. Best slept I've had in ages. However, that was 2 months ago. Now it seems like the pillow is getting too soft. I believe mine is only 3", so I will be looking into another brand, and for a thicker (possibly more dense) pillow. Am now interested in looking into getting a mattress topper too.

Wow, when I first started reading this thread, it was only 7 pages long, lol. Just now decided to take another look at it... 'lo and behold, 20 pages!

Hi

I acually read this whole thread and i was wondering why no one has updated with information on the tempur pedic bed.

from www.epinions.com
it seems the bed is horrible
just check out these links
http://www.epinions.com/content_120090889860
http://www.epinions.com/content_104295992964
http://www.epinions.com/content_96336318084
http://www.epinions.com/content_103361318532
http://www.epinions.com/content_98745552516

one of them said they got back and neck probelms from the bed.
I thought the whole point of tempur-pedic was to make back and neck problems go awway.

can anyone comment on this plz
maybe atrac or spot dancer.

Wife just showed me the latest Linens-n-Things flyer and they have the mattress topper in there for $99.99 #18254002 seems like OK price but then add on the 20% off single item purchase and that makes it just under $80. Compared to those at Costco and the like this seems like a great deal. Pillows are $19.99 #18254001. Going to grab mine shortly, after this storm clears.

Actually, Costco is giving out coupons as you leave the store this week, and they have a coupon for the mattress toppers for next week. It takes $25 off the price, so the queen size 2" 4lb is only $85.99! That's .5" thicker and one pound more than the Linen N' Things one for only a few bucks more. Plus it's Costco, so if it craps out later on you can always exchange it.

Yay!

[edit] oh, and the one at costco is a Novaform, here's a link.
