It would be worthwhile to know if the pillow your sister bought recently at Brookstone was also a Tempur-Pedic - or some other brand?

It's a Tempur-Pedic. Same one as mine, only difference is that mine is small and her's is standard.

Easy, click on the text view option (the little picture of the printer at the top of any page of the thread). It will show the entire thread in plain text format. Click the box, do an Ctrl-A then Ctrl-C. Open up notepad or whatever and Ctrl-V to paste. Then just search for what you want. Not totally easy, but with a thread this long, definitely the easiet.

I was just digging thru my mail and I've realize Chase mailed me a $25 spending certificate. Guess what I spend it on, I bought the Sharper Image heat sensitive foam queen size pillow. Interestingly, I didn't have to purchase anything else to get the 50% off deal so my final cost after the $25 GC + shipping is $32.93. Not bad for a $100 pillow

Linens N' Things has a sale, online and otherwise, Buy one pillow get one 50% off. There's also a 20% off any one item at the chubster floatin' around.

Linens has a tempurpedic pillow for $100 x2 = $200 - $50 - $20 = $130 + $10 for tax = $140. If you live in WY, SD, IA, or Alaska there is no tax, making it all the more sweet. So...does anybody want to get down on a Tempur-pedic deal with me? And if so, do you happen to live in one of the 4 states above? If not, that's cool too, i'd like a Tempur-pedic for $70...is that a good deal?

Personally, I'd hold out for maybe a $50 price on the Tempurpedic pillows, but I'm kinda cheap. We've had a $50 gift card at Linens n Things for nearly two months and haven't found a great way to spend it yet. Tempted to go mattress topper, but it's only a 1-1/2". The more expensive one has goose down and what not, but I'm trying to zero in on something in the $100-150 range.

The whole "buy one get one at half off" seems decent for pillows (equates to 25% off), but seems screwy when talking mattress pads. Sure, you "could" buy two of em, but come on.

(They've actually upped their Fedex shipping costs $0.10 in their "Grand Re-Opening")

Thanks for the heads-up. Still have around $120 to spend from returned wedding gifts. Might just have to consider a pillow. Actually, the queen size topper (only 1-1/2") is $99... hmm

so i'm a college student and i just spent awhile going through this thread..
i'm looking for a mattress topper to top my dorm mattress (which is just maybe about 6" of firm foam)
seems like i'll be going for the sensus 5.3

i was wondering if i should just try 2" first and see if i want to buy another 2" later?
and if there is the sensus 5.3 in a twin XL?? (it seems expensive to buy a queen one and cut it down to size. will the 5" make a difference really?)

I bought this pillow about 6 months ago and I can't sleep without it now.

I have suffered from severe neck pain (I woke up with pain to the point of throwing up) and I couldn't figure out why and I had xrays done and low and behold I have arthritis in my neck. All those years of sports are catching up with me now.

Anyway, I tried various contoured pillows and other types and nothing helped until I bought the novaform. I can't tell you if its the best pillow or not on the market, but I can tell you that I REALLY have a neck condition and this pillow has solved my problems. I'm SOOO thankful for that pillow. I had to buy one for my wife too cause she liked it so much.

For the money I think its a HOT DEAL!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I do put a thin pillow underneath the novaform for extra support, this way my head and neck sink into the pillow and it helps to keep my head still throught the night.

Derrick - two inches of memory foam is usually not enough. Most people like three inches minimum. I bought two 2" queen size 5.3 Sensus pads and the 4" total is very, very nice. Anything more than 4" would probably be too much. The reason I bought two 2" pads is because together they were cheaper than one 4" pad. Worked out well for me!

Does anyone have a discover card double-cash-back gift certificate for sharper image? Does it say anything on it about not being combined with other discounts or promotions? Prolly does, but if not, you could really get a great deal on a pillow.. Would try it but don't think the GC would come in the mail soon enough

I ordered the discover cash back double bonus thingy, but it will take a while for it to arrive in the mail. I hope it works.

Just a heads-up for all those who have been looking for a regular shape Sensus memory foam pillow.

Foambymail is now carrying this type of pillow, 5.0lb density Sensus, 19x15x4.5 inches, $39.99 w/shipping of $7.00 for one pillow - or free shipping when you order two pillows. Find it on Flea-Bay under Sensus Memory Foam.

I recently read a post that declared that the "consensus" of people who purchased the Sensus memory foam contour pillow by foambymail was not very good. Who's "consensus" was that? I have seen more than one post from people who felt they didnt like the pillow until they used it for a while, then loved it. There is definitely a "learning curve" that your body goes through when using these types of pillows. Once you get used to it, you wont go back to anything else. Just my .02 cents. And, the "rumor" that foambymail was no longer selling on Flea-Bay is definitely incorrect.....they are there, just as always with the best pricing.

sorry about the double post. don't post much here.

xcoldricex--- thanks to your comment, i just spent the last hr reassuring myself that the density ratings listed are approximations. if you do a fleabay search for (in my case) "cal king sensus memory foam" in the completed items you will notice that all of the latest foambymail listings now show 5.0 density instead of 5.3lb (looks like listings after 9/8 had the change). You'll also notice that the prices for the same sizes/thicknesses are the same for the 5.0 or 5.3 foam---therefore must be same foam just different marketing. my guess is someone (competitor) gave them a hard time for specking the 5.3 density instead of the standard 5.0 everyone else selling sensus seems to be using.

If I've got it all wrong someone please correct me.

i'm debating a 3 or 4" 5lb sensus topper for our worn out simmons. where can i go to try out a sensus foam mattress or topper in person before i buy? thnx

Yes, I too noticed the change in density and wondered to myself the reason for it. I doubt this change makes any difference in the quality of the product.

I have 4" of the supposedly 5.3lb denisty Sensus memory foam mattress topper from foambymail, and I love it. Previously I had purchased pads that were 1" and 1 1/2" but they were not very good really. Some feel that 3" is more than adequate, but I like all of the 4" I bought.

As far as finding a place to "try out" a foam mattress or topper I think the only thing to do is look in the yellow pages to find a foam manufacturer that is near to you and see if they have any product on display. If you go to a Bed, Bath or whatever, they will not be able to let you try it out before you buy it as I doubt they would have any unpacked. If you are looking for a "regular" style mattress made with memory foam as the top, then you could try and locate a retail furniture store that sells them and go try one out there.

Good luck!

I saw costco sells Topper from Nova brand now (before only pillow). The topper is 2" thick and only 4lbs denisty, King CA for $129 and Queen goes for $109.

Now my questions, Is this a good topper to buy? How much of quality different between 4lb and 5.3lb? I am only 160lbs weight, should I goes with something thicker?

This is probably not a bad deal if your foundation is excellent, but usually 2" is not enough. In my experience you will never get more than 2" and most times in certain areas of the pad it will be less than two inches - like 1 3/4 inches in some places. 4lb density is not bad but the 5.3lb is best. I would suggest that you buy a minimum 3" pad, but you could do a cost analysis and if the price difference is not too great between a 2" and 3 or 4" pad, try the 2" pad to see if it is ok, and if not go ahead and buy another 2" pad to put on top of it. I was able to buy two queen 2" Sensus 5.3lb pads from foambymail for a better price than a queen 4" pad, so I went with two 2" pads. Worked well for me!

i don't think he'll combine shipping anymore.

he quoted shipping as per pad when i asked him for the 4", 3", 2" prices for twin xl's

i'm still debating whether or not to bite the bullet and just get a 4" one... pretty pricey.

but my back hurts.

I also noticed that foambymail's website still touts the 5.3lb density rating.--hmm, what's the deal? just slow to update the website?

One other thing I noticed in mark's freebay listing is his comment about shipping packaging. mark's ships you a box that you can actually use to return the product if the need were to arise.---minor but interesting.

finally, mark's ebay prices including shipping are almost exactly what his website shows. whereas foambymail's ebay prices including shipping are about the same as marks while their website prices (supposed 5.3lb) are much higher!

Now I'm sure lot's of people have bought from foambymail and i haven't decide on what i'm buying yet (wife wants to wait a bit) but if i buy sensus foam, so far i'm planning on buying from mark's. cheers

I just received an email from Boscov's Department Store (Boscovs.com - click on home, bedroom, pillows/mattress pads/page 5 - I tried to create a link, but it no workie for me). They are having a sale on Novaform mattress pads (twin, full, queen). $19.99 for any size and $8.95 shipping for any quantity. These pads will never be confused with the Sensus pads but if you are suffering from that not-so-rare Asian disease (funds-R-low) this might be a good time to buy two, three or four of them. I bought one of these quite a while ago, and if memory serves these are 1 1/2 inches thick. I dont know the density but I would guess its probably 3lbs. For the money I thought the pad was pretty good.

If you are thiniking about buying more than two of these pads, keep in mind that you will reach a point of diminishing returns if you buy too many of them. There is some sort of mathematical formula that can be used to figure this out, but I dont have any idea what that is. I am sure that two pads would work better than one, but the question after that is would three pads be better than two and/or would four pads be better than three? At some point one more pad would turn out to be useless.

Anyone here have any idea on how to figure this out? This information might help some people decide if they want to try and use three or four of them.

p.s. I have had quite a few dealings with foambymail and if I were going to buy a Sensus product - based upon my experience with them - I would definitely go with foambymail.

bhindmarsh--I also noticed the price difference you point out, so, I emailed foambymail on 9/1/03 and asked them why the price difference. I never received a reply, so I ordered from Mark's.

Spotdancer, this boscov's deal looks promising. even if you don't like the pad(s) for the bed, you could pull out the shop shears and an old pillow case and make yourself a couple (or more) driving pillows for the car by stacking. for some reason car seats never support me enough. at that price darn!!! I think we'll do this just as a first try w/ this foam.

Also, I'm not ruling out working w/ foambymail... i fully intend to do as randypj did and email him and ask him about the price difference, density rating difference before making any decisions. But now that i'm going to try this boscov's deal, maybe this lightweight foam will do... maybe.

THANKS FOR POSTING!!!
