Republicans will be first ones to taste the climate change. Since majority of republicans is either in southern states, which will become too hot; or in midwest, where agriculture will be affected by the droughts. We already had bad drought in 2012, and 2013 is already promising the same.

Yeah, because the states aren't interconnected at all! In fact, there's a nice line between the red and blue states! So if the farm belt starts experiencing droughts, pffft New York will be fine behind it's shield of liberal utopia! No way food prices would go up. Nope, not at all...

Well there you go, an easy way to rid the world of Republicans. Simply allow things to heat up so the awesome Democratic states in the north can grow produce year round and support themselves.

What's the issue? This problem is solving itself. Amirite?

All I am saying is that republicans will witness the climate changes firsthand. It won't be some imaginary liberal agenda. Unless we get another little ice age, as it happened between 16th and 19th century.

Is he going to nuke China? Then you won't make any difference. Even if you removed the United States from the equation, CO2 will continue to rise. The rest of the planet will continue economic development even if we will not.

You can not stop human progress, and for this century that means CO2 emissions.

I've changed my mind. A more realistic approach is for Obama to issue 23 executive orders to make China become more green.

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, political leaders including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I) and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) have made the connection between climate change and the costs of inaction.

Right, cause the Northeast never saw a Hurricane before. Dumb!@#$s.

This issue rests on the deaf leading the blind. As if every case of weather is derived from CO2. They tried to pull that bull!@#$ with Katrina and it blew up in their faces when we encountered the greatest landfalling Hurricane drought in recorded history.

Still no major strikes since 2008, unheard of since the civil war.

Remember when snow was a thing of the past?

Only consensus we have is that they consistently get the 'settled' science wrong, and the only ones left standing are politicians driving anti-American agendas trying to destroy our economy. Well !@#$ them, and to hell with anyone supporting them.

It's a good thing someone has a plan to stop climate change. Once the plan is implemented, the climate will never change again

You guys are batty.

yes..he has to appease the eco-KOOKS and eco-thiests so no doubt he will do something to forward the liberal structured deception and hoax and institutionalize the democrat agenda of eco-tyranny. It's all about power. The low information liberals are willing to make bigGov even bigger. Liberals have lots of friends in low places to help them forward their fear / envy /climate hoax and punitive taxes on any energy use.

I still don't understand how people are so arrogant that they think we can affect the natural cycles of the planet.

I mean, really. Seriously. It's a process that is so complex we can't even begin to comprehend it. Hell, we can't even accurately predict whether or not it will rain next week!

Also, who's to say "climate change" is bad? Would more rain in certain areas really be a bad thing? Would less rain in other places be bad?

the power grab is to politicize the weather. Then they will claim any change in weather is caused by humans. That way they can financially punish and control all human behavior. This can only happen to a low information populous willing to forward a structured deception at any cost to empower and institutionalize a liberal controlled bigGov.

We'll run out of economy or oil before we melt the icecaps and submerge the South.

It's a hidden check in this entire global warming argument. We most likely don't have to do anything just let this all just follow its natural course.

**Posting in a moonbeam hysteria yet conservatives are the insane people thread.**

I love how people think the only consequence of global warming is things getting warmer.

Notice the intellectual lazyness here, which is pretty typical of most deniers. You can't really challenge the science effectively, so lets shoot the messengers instead and use that as our argument.

Not going to help that New York City, Boston, LA, SF, etc will all be underwater.

Oh Mr. President, please save us from this.
You shouldn't be so sure about that. You have nothing if the standstill continues.
But that chart is before NASA adds it's special sauce!

I'm very agnostic about CAGW, given the Earth's amazing control system and the pro-CAGW forces' repeated dishonesty. However, there are undeniably bad effects to high CO2 levels, in particular marine and aquatic acidification of already stressed ecosystems. That makes it worth while to develop practical ways to lower CO2 emissions and even better, to sequester (and hopefully use) CO2 from atmosphere and/or water.

One bright spot: many aquatic and marine plants are CO2-limited and thus will grow better (and take in more nutrients) with higher levels, which should marginally improve other forms of pollution. However, if memory serves many of those same plants quickly become limited by micronutrients when CO2 levels escalate, so that isn't likely to make much change in CO2 levels themselves.
