Except OpenCL is not CUDA or PhysX, cant compare them... OpenCL is like Direct Compute or Stream, its a programming standard which runs on top of CUDA cores and is now supported by Stream Processors...

For those not interested only in defending their pet video card company, I think the responses may be relative. We expect dual-GPU cards to be loud, in a relative sense, compared to single-GPU products. However, when one card is being deemed unusable by some (as the 6990 is and to some extent the 480 was) then it goes beyond our expectations even for that class of card.

In brief: There's a difference between "loud and hot" and "unbearably loud and hot". Some people may be willing to excuse "loud and hot" if performance is high, but going to an unbearable noise level to get that performance may be a step too far.

Tru dat. But then a 560 is all you need to game... Top end cards are expected to have most performance one can squeeze out of the power spec, and for noise... that's why there is water cooling. Any one who runs 590s or 6990 with stock coolers does not deserve to have those cards... Stock coolers are there because they have to be, not because they were meant to be... This applies to green and red team.
