i had no idea he was a brit either so that says enough i think

Estes and Brody both!

Maybe they are going to start a soap business, I bet you could sell the crap out of lye soap in a post apocalyptic world.

Yeah, you could really... clean up. :awe:

Well that I knew... plus his name is Hugh and I don't know any Americans named Hugh

Ehh, how could a telly/comedy watcher not be aware of Laurie before House?

Damn Rick is getting ruthless.

Then again, in that world you probably only have two choices toughen up or become zombie chow.

But everyone is already infected so the walkers aren't spreading anything...everyone already carries the virus. The bite of a walker only serves to kill the person and speed up the reanimation process...but the virus should only be concerned about spreading itself...which already happened mysteriously around the world at the same time....

It is an inconsistency between Walking Dead and other zombie movies, but not one I think exists in The Walking Dead itself. I dont think anyone was bitten and turned right away. When Andrea's sister was hurt by a zombie, she was dead for a while before she turned. So its reasonable that being bitten isnt a death sentence in itself.

As to why they eat...well, why are dead people walking around? Normal human physiology doesnt apply to zombies. They are more supernatural. A virus doesnt explain their condition. Eating is just something they do. In the first episode, Jones's (the father) wife seemed to exhibit memories of her life, because she kept trying to get into her house. In Atlanta, you saw people waiting on the bus like they were going to work. Maybe they eat because they remember instinctively its something they do. Three things that all humans do is eat, shit and sleep. The walker that got Hershel might have been sleeping. Otherwise, that was one sneaky zombie.

doing things that zombies did while alive, is one of the themes of the original Dawn of the Dead. it explains why they are all hanging out at the mall anyway, it was a place that was important to them and that they subconsciously associated with it. it was also probably a commentary on consumer society, which many people read into the original dawn of the dead. but point being, if someone were to compile standard zombie traits, repeating their living routine would be one of those characteristics of zombology.

It's a death sentence I believe as far as we have seen unless you stop it quick like they did with the leg chop.

It just takes a bit and usually adds to the suspense when someone gets bitten and hides it.

Can you think of any examples? I think the only ones who have turned actually died first.

Am I the only one who thought there were inconsistencies these last couple episodes? Some were stupid, some were more "important," but I was still annoyed. Like when that zombie clawed that black dudes back, rick said later "did you see where his bite was?"

And suddenly rick is a fucking zombie doctor...mind you, they never figured it out at the CDC or anywhere else. If you just remove a bitten limb within a certain amount of time you are g2g.

There were a few other things i cant remember right now too. Still an enjoyable show, obviously, but i just thought some things were weird.

No comic book spoilers please!

I think at this point, Rick is just itching to kill people (outside his group) at the slightest hint of danger. The actor is doing a decent job of portraying Ricks change into a maniac from his former controlled lawman.

From the beginning the crew was harsh to the prisoners. Darly had a bow and arrow on their ass. They were after their food and starting going at seperating the team within the prision (how long will that last).

I would of came off with "your part of our group" behavior up-front, unless they wanted to be homicidal maniacs. They've been institutionalized, I think they would have been good with the team.

Pretty much this. Looking at it from the prisoners point of view, you have these invaders barge in on you in your house with weapons drawn and ordering them around, basically implying that "share your supplies or die". I'd be pretty pissed if I was one of the cons!

I am having mixed feelings about the road that Rick is going down, his morality and empathy is really starting to go downhill. Perhaps it is an interesting study in the Tribal aspect of human nature which includes protecting Your Group at all costs against anyone perceived as The Stranger.

it's how we are though. take our phones, electricity and easy access to food, safety and shelter away and we'll kill people to get what we need to survive.

we're no different or more evolved than people were a long time ago. our situation is different - that's all.

i think star trek DS9 covered it quite well

sorry for the quote

"Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people – as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts... deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers... put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time... and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people will become as nasty and violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don't believe me? Look at those faces, look at their eyes..."

I think this explains it all.

The creator of the Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman answered this directly:
The rule is: WHATEVER it is that causes the zombies, is something everyone already has. If you stub your toe, get an infection and die, you turn into a zombie, UNLESS your brain is damaged. If someone shoots you in the head and you die, you're dead. A zombie bite kills you because of infection, or blood loss, not because of the zombie "virus."

So apparently a zombie bite causes a lethal infection in all cases. I pulled that quote from http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Zombies#Reanimation
