Very different characters. I knew something had to change because TV just can't do the things done in the comics. The rewrite of his character is pretty good. It seems though, that after his injury, the TV governor may become more like the comic governor.

The show likes taking a character, throwing shit at him, and then watch him turn dark. Here they are taking a corrupted, power hungry man and are probably going to turn him into pure evil. A few things happened to the Governor that are probably going to set him off now. One, Zombie Penny, the last connection to his previous life and the only thing he really loved, is dead. Two, Merle more or less betrayed him when he lied about Michonne being dead. Three, Michonne is now the focus of all of his rage. She killed his daughter (well, zombie daughter) and took an eye/scarred him. Finally, their oasis was compromised and attacked. There is no need for false caring now, his people are at war and I'm sure he's now going to be more like the comic book Governor now.

It does look like there is one last raid to free Darrel so this mid season finale didn't have a massive cliffhanger which is nice. It's more just anticipation about the shit truly hitting the fan in the next batch of episodes.

If zombies are dead and their flesh rots and doesn't regenerate, why do they need to feed how do they digest the human flesh ?

I find the TV governor much more nuanced and interesting than the comics governor.

Agreed.

And yes the bone shanks were cheesy.

I like how zombie teeth can do things to flesh that healthy human teeth (which would be stronger) cannot do.

I also like how at the same time, zombie flesh and bones can be broken and such far easier than living human. That makes more sense, but doesn't fit well with their teeth being so strong.

I always wonder how zombies spread themselves if they're shown devouring completely everyone they swarm?

Who is going to win the war?

The Woodbury militia vs The prison dwellers

With the new group that just joined, I can see it being a good match.

It's not so much the problem of not being able to do it, but that in reality, even if you could do it, it wouldn't be like peeling the skin off an onion or sticking your fingers in through a tangerine.

I watched something on spike a year or so ago, where they pit certain characters versus one another. It was a computer simulation based on scientific assumptions and data. This episode was zombies vs vampires. In the episode, they claimed zombies feel no pain and therefore was believed they could be much stronger than a normal human that would stop doing things once it hurt. They simulated the zombie strength with large body builder men. They had 4-5 men attempt to tear the "organs" out of one of those ballistic gel dummies (the ones they use on myth busters) to see what could be done. Turns out the body was torn to little dummie bits in about 1 minute.

They also assumed the same with bite force. They jacked up the bite force to that of say a german Shepard or something. Needless to say, our little human bodies are quite frail and most definately could be ripped up very badly if these assumptions were actually correct.

There were a couple extremely cheesy moments in this episode. The first one was when Glenn rips off the zombie arm to make shanks. The second was seeing the jaw of one of the heads from the tanks moving on the floor.

Well i think the heads are still alive even cut off. You have to damage the brain. So i guess it makes sense they would still try to bite and eat even when cut off.

good episode and sucks we won't see the conclusion for 2 months.

1. wish andrea would die already. tired of looking at that stupid horse face smirk she always has on her face.

2. token down and a new one rises - right on cue.

3. the dialog in this show angers me sometimes. when rick was asking michonne all these questions and she looks at him with her tough look (which it's painfully obvious she is trying so extremely hard to look that way) i was nearly yelling at my tv "JUST FUCKING TALK!!". it is like these people are retarded and simply can't speak sometimes. just frustrating to watch at times.

4. "glenn's got the daughter, you're a lesbian."

5. i was hoping to see the daryl/merle reunion last night but looks like we'll have to wait a couple months to see how it plays out also hated seeing andrea's stupid look on her face AGAIN when she saw daryl.

Two quick thoughts after last night's episode:

1. Where the hell is everyone getting automatic weapons? The governor's people I can somewhat understand given their raid on the National Guard (though I'm not sure even they would have full auto). But Rick's people? Doubt a prison has that type of stock.

2. Am I the only one who thinks the "Merle is the traitor" stuff at the end is staged? Pretend to turn on Merle so that he can escape with the brother - have a man on the inside? Or at least have Merle learn what he needs to know about the prison and its defenses.

interesting thought about #2 there. i did not think about that at all during that scene, but i did think "MERLE WHY ARENT YOU SPEAKING UP AGAINST YOUR ACCUSER?" but that just went back to how poor the dialog in this show is in many parts. a lot of dialog just doesn't make any sense and him keeping silent at that part made none, especially with him being a hot head. but your 2nd theory could be why maybe.

Been wondering that myself. That is also why the whole prison does not make much sense. What I would have expected to see at the prison is all the prisoners in their cells but they are all zombies because they all starved to death and then turned to zombies. Or you would see one zombie in a cell and his bunk mate eaten because one turned into a zombie sooner than the other one.
But let us say there was mass chaos and all the cell doors were open and a few zombies were on the loose. There would have been a far greater number of the living than there would have been zombies. I would think maybe a couple of zombies would attack a guy and kill him and start eating him. Wouldn't the larger of number of living people be able to kill those zombies? I am sure the zombies don't bite people just to infect them. They bite to eat. Even when they are bitten it takes time for them to turn. So I can't imagine a scenario were the zombies infected enough people through biting to take over the prison.
If the prison was in mass chaos I would think the inmates would have attacked and tried to kill the guards. Then all the dead guards turned to zombies and they started killing the inmates. But if you were an inmate wouldn't you have staged a mass jail break? Why did they all reamain in the prison. That prison was huge with a population that had to be in the hundreds. How could they all have been turned into zombies?

The only explanation that kind of makes sense is if the military tried to gas everyone at the prison in an attempt to kill the zombies. They said lets experiment this toxic gas on a prison to see if it will work to kill the zombies. They gas the prison and the gas kills all the living but since it killed them all they all then turned into zombies creating the prison scene we see now. Kind of makes sense since they showed us the back of the prison that looks like a bomb hit it.

I don't watch the show but automatic weapons are fairly common everywhere.... would be a waste of ammo if they're firing them at zombies though.

Merle lied to the Governor about killing Michonne. Michonne comes back, kills his zombie babby, pokes his eye out with a shard of glass...

Pretty damn sure at this point the Governor wants Merle dead.

<just before epic battle>

Returns in February

WHAT IS THIS BULLSHIT?!?

This is how the TV industry works now. The Neilson rating sweeps periods are late October/November and then in Febuary/March. This is when they find out how many viewers a show has. The more viewers the more they can charge advertisers for commercial space.

They historically know that between December and January people are too busy with the holidays to watch TV. So there is no reason to air good new episodes in that time frame. They now create these midseason cliffhangers in order to get us excited to tune in during the sweeps period.

For shows that run 22-26 episodes a year they just show reruns during this time frame between sweeps periods instead of taking a break.

You do know prisoners are not locked up all day right? especially in Prison. they spend roughly 8 hours a day on lock down for sleep only the rest they are free to do their work duties all over the prison.
Prisons are more of a labor camp than a lockdown.. except for the super violent people on lockdown/segregation.. they do not work.

That and once news hit ( they have TVs in Prison) I'm sure there was a riot/panic and they guards most likely lost control of the prison.
