For general use sure, but if you know you are going close quarters and there's a ton of zombies I think it'd be worth the loss in speed. I'd also think that the leg/arm and maybe head protection is far more valuable than chest.The problem is wearing the suits will slow you down and prevent you from getting away and tiring you out faster.
However, now they know that everybody is already infected. So a little bit of zombie goo isn't going to kill them.
To keep from getting bitten when they enter a potentially dangerous situation, they should have been wearing motorcycle suits. Now at least they'll have riot suits.

Yes! I don't remember if i read it in the comic or if it was on the TV show but everyone is already infected with the virus. It's only when you die that you become a zombie.
It worked well for the dd in 28 Days Later..until he took off his helmet. I would think a firemans outfit would work really well. No bites are gonna get through that, and you can use Molotov cocktails to slow them down without fear of catching on fire. I'll take the hit in speed...its not like you need to be a ninja.

You should watch the Talking Dead after the show. The writer for this episode answered a question about why no one has gone to the prison until now. He basically answered that there are packs of zombies moving around and there may not have been an opening until this point to get to it. I think he also said that perhaps no one else found it until this group as well though.Whoops I guess you're right. Still though, if they stayed in the same area for nine months how have they not come across it until now? I mean it looks like it was a mile away tops. That just seems ludicrous.

Also, the show is seperate from the comic book. In the comic book Shane never gets to the farm, that transaction between him and rick happens much earlier. Along with Daryl (however you spell his name) wasn't even a character in the comics, yet is pretty much the most bad ass character on the show.

But here is the problem. People in this thread ask questions that could only be answered if you read the comic. If people don't want to know answers, don't ask questions.
This isn't Breaking Bad where we have no idea what is coming. Many people know exactly what is coming. Or at least know very closely what is coming and people come into this thread looking for answers.

I have not read them, but my friends say that Merle isn't really a part of comic books so they have no idea what's going to happen with him. I'm fine with background stuff on the Walking Dead universe because it does help fill in stuff without giving away plot details.
