TIL what the term 'bottle episode' is.
Bottle episodes can really expose the writing team of the show to how good they really are. Most bottle episodes suck but the good writers out there can really make them into jewels of the show. I don't think this episode of the Walking Dead exactly fits into the description of a bottle episode just based on the budget they probably used making Morgan's zombie traps, but it does only use three of the main characters.

I did think it was a very good episode though. Morgan is like a reality check/rescuer both times Rick meets him. He focuses Rick on the reality of him waking up in a world ruled by zombies the first time and centering him on a mission to find his family. Now he wakes up Rick into the reality that everyone has some huge loss they are dealing with. There's no time to pussy out when you have to act because it may cost you what little you have left. With nothing left for Morgan, his purpose is to now more or less atone for the mistake of not taking the responsibility to finish off his wife.

I can see that people are probably disappointed that the "shit hasn't hit the fan" yet, but I'm not expecting that until the season finale, or at least the second to last episode of the season. I'm guessing there are still at least two "filler" episodes left. I really think this episode will be remembered as one of the best of the series though. It's a real examination of the mental state of the people who are forced to live through this type of event. It's also the first time that a character is purposefully eradicating zombies for the sake of people in the future.

I agree; they did a lot of work setting up the town for that episode.

Rick has no problems asking a man who stabbed him to join him because he "wasn't like this" but he won't give any mercy to that poor innocent hitchhiker, lets him get taken apart by walkers, then takes his shit. Rick is one cold bastard.

It was amazing to see the amount of detail they put into it as they were showing it in the Talking Dead. There were colored escape paths from Morgan depending on the type of emergency and systems to move the bodies around.

Rick has no problems asking a man who stabbed him to join him because he "wasn't like this" but he won't give any mercy to that poor innocent hitchhiker, lets him get taken apart by walkers, then takes his shit. Rick is one cold bastard.
I understand them not wanting to take the guy as they are going out on a mission. Too much risk and too much of a liability with it being shaky already with Rick and Michonne. Now, I'm curious as to what they would do on the way back. I would like to think they would have picked him up because Rick opened up to Michonne during the trip, but Morgan did have a rant about how "no one is cleared" or something like that.

Would have been interesting for one of the slave zombies to be white... The fact that both were black like the katana lady struck me.

just in case you dont get the PM

Whatever youre using to link your smileys just stop

they dont work for anyone else so stop linking them. If you want to insert smileys you have to use BB code.

simple alpha characters work just fine

And speaking of the cafe zombies, why the fuck were they all sitting down and acting like they were sleeping? do zombies get tired and have to sit down? It doesn't make sense to me when I see stuff like that. So even if the people died in those positions, when they became zombies, they didn't think to stand up or move, especially in the amount of time that has passed? And since when do the zombies hide and plan an attack like the one that grabbed Carl's foot in the cafe? I need some explanations on these things.

This is nothing new, it has happened multiple times in the show. Basically if the zombies are enclosed with no food source and no stimulation, they will eventually go "dormant" until something disturbs them. The one that attacked Carl wasn't hiding, it just hadn't "woken up" due to the rat traps since it was behind the bar, but then Carl and Michonne started messing around back there so it went active.

Well, he knows the man that stabbed him. They already established trust. The hitch hiker, not so much.

I too thought it looked like the hitch hiker was killed by a car or something other than a zombie, looked like he had been smeeeeeaaaarrreeeddd down the road, but whatever. Nothing came of it so I guess it doesn't matter.

So any predictions on what role Morgan will play in the rest of the season, if anything? Did they take all of the weapons? It looked like they took a duffel bag, meanwhile the place was stocked better than the NRA museum. Maybe they come back and get more stuff, but it didn't seem like Morgan supported Rick's plan.

i know it's nothing new, but this one stood out more to me. Are zombies smart enough to sit down and become dormant? Just doesn't make any sense to me as we see them impale themselves on spikes and continue to claw at the animals until someone dispatches them. They don't seem to realize that hey, i can't get that rat, maybe I should try something else. or hey, i'm stuck on a 10 foot long spike, maybe I should back up?

I didn't even know what it was until they showed the backpack. it was smeared like a good 10 yards or so, lol.

Did anyone else notice who Karl shot on his way out of the bar?

dun dun dun....

Thought it looked like Morgan's wife... but that was 3 seasons ago and I don't want anyone to think that I think certain people look alike...

Pretty sure Morgan said he put her down after she chomped on their son.

I thought so too. Or at least I assumed so after he told the story to Rick, but then a coworker pointed out he never said what he did, just said he saw red.

I also had assumed Morgan shot her from the 2nd floor of his house in season 1, but they never showed that. We now know he never did. And if he didn't do it then....

After he says he sees red, he says he finally does it(shoot his wife) but it was too late.

edit: more specifically he says he didn't shoot his wife back then when rick gave him the gun and that was what came around and bit him cuz his cowardice cost him his son when his son was faced with her and couldn't do it either. That's when he went on about seeing red and finally doing it(as I said above) but it was too late.
