I'd be happy if they turned the prison into an awesome Swiss Family Robinson clubhouse with all kinds of mechanisms that raise and lower gates and set traps and they spent all of their time dispensing with zombies from the security of their awesome fortress.

They are way too busy walking around being emo to do anything like that. I mean the only thing they have done so far to make the prison more defensible is to move some pallets around and cut a hole in the cage by the door, even though there are like 5 people just sitting around the prison all day.

Does anyone else chuckle when you have internet directors being critical of actors? I laugh at most people trying to talk about horrible acting, when they wouldn't be able to do anywhere close to that good if put in the situation.

Does anyone else chuckle when you have internet nazis who think you have to be a perfect professional at something to be critical of others doing it badly?

News flash, even if you can't do it better you can certainly see when others are doing it badly...

The "let's see you do better" is the worst argument ever. How does my ability have any effect on someone else's ability to do something poorly?

My favorite was this weekend when Glen went outside, cut 3 sides of a rectangle in a random fence and folded it downward. What is he making, a mail slot? Is he going to shoot through that slot while the chicken wire fencing protects him from bullets? What, he can't fit the gun through the fence to shoot back?

I want to see more season 1. More on the road, more survival, more scavenging, etc.

This being holed up in one place with momma baby daddy drama is just getting old.

yeah, haven't watched in a few weeks, if I want that melodramatic horse-shit I could go watch a soap opera.

To be fair, in a zombie apocalypse, the big threat are other humans too.

Take any of your favorite zombie flick- it actually deals with a lot of internal conflict and fighting with other survivors.

I don't have a problem with TWD's plot itself. It's just that the pace is so god damn slow, it drags on and on and on, thus making you sick of the soap opera.

The creator has said that "The Walking Dead" refers to the survivors, not the zombies.
Perhaps you don't enjoy human drama, but without it, it would just be like a video game's horde mode and get repetitive and boring in a big hurry.
They are just trying to survive day-to-day. The scientist at the CDC was trying to understand it, but ran out of resources. There's no way a rag tag group of non-scientists are even going to scratch the surface.
It's been about a year since it all began. They went to the CDC in Atlanta, but that obviously didn't work out. They have talked about going to Fort *something*, but ran into people who said there was nothing there. Traveling long distances is perilous... Not knowing if/when you can find more gas, food, shelter. Or whether or not the roads are clear (which they often are not, even in their limited area.) At least the prison is a known quantity.
Again, the biggest thing to note is that they are trying to survive day-to-day on limited resources.

If you are looking for non-stop zombie killing, this show isn't for you. Go watch Dawn of the Dead over and over.

I don't mind drama, but this just seems ridiculous. If I had a group of people I wouldn't just sit and say "oh well, lets just live the rest of our lives here 30 minutes from where we used to live.". The zombies are just background noise now with 3-5 of them dying each episode. Doesn't matter if the "Walking Dead" refers to the living or not, the show started out and became popular when it was about zombies and the inherent danger from them. The 1 guy at the CDC, they gave up after seeing 1 person who happens to be within an hour of where they lived? Way to give it the 'ol college try.

I don't begrudge anyone who thinks the show is still great, I just think it could be so much better. There isn't even any survival aspect going on. It's just conflict based on ego and 10 minutes of action for the whole season between the groups.

the war is stupid anyway, in reality how would the prison folk even win? It's like 8-9 people versus what, 40-50 in woodbury? More? The prison is surrounded by woods, Woodbury could just pick them off every time they went outside. What are they going to do, stay inside forever?

Woodbury had over 70 at the start of the season. When they were going to train, they said they had ~30 fit for fighting.

So figure half that or less who were ready. 8-9 with experience vs 15 with experience + 15 w/o. That isn't insurmountable odds at all depending how the fight happens.

The governor would have no intention of picking them off slowly. He wants to provide his people the opportunity to slaughter the people that attacked them.

It will be a full out assault and Rick's people if they planned accordingly could inflect massive casualties because they definitely are more seasoned than Woodbury's people.

In truth, both forces are probably roughly equal in size/training. Both locations are somewhat secure.

To me, the victor of such a battle would most likely be the group that struck first and utilized the element of surprise. Would have to give the edge to Rick's group on that (unless he's idiotic enough to walk into Woodbury with 3-4 of his best fighters and be slaughtered in the process).

The prison never seems to have more than 1 - 2 idiots walking around outside not paying attention. Shoot 1 or 2 of them, and I would imagine the rest could lock down the prison/move to heavily defensible spots that would make penetrating the prison in an open assault very difficult.

At Woodbury, there always seems to be 3-4 idiots jerking off on the walls, probably on any given side of town. A well-timed attack could wipe out the vast majority of sentries, leaving a minimal number of people to defend a more-easily penetrable location.

Yep, basically initiative and defensive positions, if you can manage to get both that side would win.

I wonder at this time who has more of a weapons cache. I mean, the Governor has a nice collection I'm sure but Morgan had a crate of grenades. They could just start lobbing those at Woodbury and take out half the buildings. The prison is quite exposed but at least you have a large clearing and a buffer area in an attack.

the prison doesn't appear to be the greatest place since they aren't using the guard towers at all.

if I were the Gubner I'd have people randomly raid the prison with the hopes of picking one or two off at a time. The prison has food, but not a vast supply of baby formula and a run would need to be made. Those that left wouldn't be coming back.

If Ricky wants to survive he is either going to have to move or strike fast and go after the Gubner. He would have to die in the first strike.

Prison is the best place, they have the keys. All they have to do is fall back to the generator room, lock the attackers out of secure areas and turn the alarms back on, let the assaulting force get ate by zombies, if they can hold the towers while doing this they can be picking them off all the while as well.

The fence is down in at least one spot. The building has a wall down, and zombies can get to the generator room.

The only place in the prison that is safe, is the small area they are locked in, and the small fenced in area in front.

The only preparation they did was put up some wooden pallets. LoL! A half inch of pine isn't going to stop a bullet.

I thought the prison at least had some food, but in the previous episode Glen said they are almost out of food and ammo.

The prison is a death trap, and there doesn't seem to be a good reason to stay there.

Last night was interesting, Rick asking Hershel to talk him out of giving up Michone to the Governor. I hope he isn't that stupid. I am wondering what Andrea is up to, and if she is going to try to stop the Governor. Can't wait for next Sunday.

Err, what? That's a complete misinterpretation of the scene. Rick was hoping that Herschel might talk him out of going to war. He wasn't planning to give up Michonne. That's why he didn't tell anyone else about the Governor's offer.
