I'd bet he is the next major character to die. Like someone else said, Darryl is probably going to off him.Merle is my second favorite character of the show, right after Darryl.

A random zombie being split open does not carry the same emotional weight as seeing a long running human character be split open. Yes I know it's just Lori, but it is what it is.
doesn't change the gore factor one bit.
When Rick and the Asian kid slathered zombie guts all over them in season 1...didn't the zombies catch on after awhile if I recall? Yes, it was after it started raining but rain certainly isn't going to wash all that stink off. Michonne didn't have nearly as much of it on her yet she's shoulder to shoulder with zombies and not detected...just seemed a bit odd.
Michonne was walking around in the heat with those guts on her. The time in the show is exxagerated, but if she walked from the store to the prison, we can assume the smell would "cured" for her. If Glenn and Maggie had to drive to the store..imagine how long it would take to walk.
Until he kidnapped Glenn, I was thinking Merle might turn against the governor over his brother.
A good friend of mine is good friends with the guy in Merle's group who got decapitated by Michone. I'm one degree separated from a dead guy in Walking Dead!
A guy I work with actually has a step daughter that works for AMC, so I get to hear some pretty interesting stories about the show. I'd heard about Hines Ward being a zombie about a month before they officially said anything on it.

I thought the funniest thing was that Merle stopped following Michonne and went back the way he came, yet they both ended up at the same spot. How does that work?

Glen and Rick got rained on pretty good, it makes sense that the zombies would start to be able to tell that they didn't smell like the rest of em.
Well, I wouldn't say they "had" to drive. It's like people who live in suburbs or car-required areas that drive a block to get a coffee...

That logic doesn't really apply in an apocalypse where gas is scarce...you wouldn't drive somewhere unless you pretty much just had too.
Except right now it isn't really.
There are a ton of cars on the roads you can get gas from.
I've given up on caring about the cars/gas situation, Daryl choosing to ride the ridiculously loud motorcycle, etc.
I am, however, strangely interested in purchasing a Hyundai for odd some reason, though...
if they were scouting for supplies, they might have wanted the option to bring back more than they could carry on their backs in case they found something good. That logic doesn't really apply in an apocalypse where gas is scarce...you wouldn't drive somewhere unless you pretty much just had too.
Well Merle heard the car and he had commented to the kid before killing him they needed to find a car to get back to the base.
eh. I think that falls under suspension of disbelief, just like zombies not being subject to natural decay (or being eaten by carrion birds/insects)All the car batteries would be dead by now for any car not being used.
