Just started watching the series the other day. I'm in Season 2 now and still not feeling it. It's filmed locally and everyone seems really into it so I'm still giving it a chance. At least I get a kick out of spotting street signs and stuff I recognize.

Thread avoidance in three, two, one, ...

I'm looking forward to see what direction it goes this season. Season 1 was great, season 2 was pretty good, and I didn't really like season 3, the whole governor story line was rather lame. Too bad they didn't off the governor character at the end of the season, now we know he'll be back at some point later.

I hope they go back to the season 1 storyline where it focuses more on day to day survival in an insane zombie world rather than focusing on the people-vs-people drama.

yea I am hoping for this as well, although I liked season 3 more than season 2. Season 2's farm episodes got a bit too slow. I just went on a marathon and watched all three seasons over the past 2 weeks. Never followed the show before that. Pretty good show but not sure if I'll like it as much not being able to watch all the episodes back to back.

I can't disagree with anything you said. I just told my wife last night that I hope the Governor isn't the focus of this season.

TWD is a much much better show when you can watch episodes back to back, even if just a few at a time. When I started, I watched seasons 1+2 back to back and watched season 3 as it aired. I didn't like season 3 too much but went back and watched them back to back and found it a lot more enjoyable. I plan to wait for a handful of episodes to come out for season 4 before I start watching it.

I think I may wait out season 4 and watch it all in a marathon. I watched 1 and 2 that way and I loved them both, it really helps get through the long passages on the farm. Might have even helped me enjoy season 3 too.

I still can't get over how stupid last season's finale was. Andrea spends most of her time talking, instead of trying to escape. While the Governor kills all his own men. The attack on the prison looked like a bad episode of The A-Team.

I have a love-hate relationship with this show.

It's not very good. Some devices are just awful- Dale's death was some next-level lazy writing, Lori's character and parenting makes ZERO sense, and Governor ordeal was just too drawn out.

Unlike GoT or BB, I can't stand ANY of the characters in TWD. I don't know if that's a good thing- the writers managed to suck me into their characters even if all of them are irritable:

Andrea: Annoying dumbass, I cringed when they showed her getting changed. She's not even hot.

Rick: His acting is just eyeball-fvck the camera whenever something intense happens.

Hershel: His slow ass predictable southern accented talk is annoying

Lori: laugh.

Carl: little pisser that needs to die after Lori.

Glenn: I can't even stand this kid- sick of the typical submissive/passive shy Asian role.

Daryl and Maggie are only characters I care for. Well, Maggie barely qualifies simply because she's hot and isn't annoying- that's sad.

I think I just watch this show just because it's popular and people talk about it. I wouldn't mind if TWD turned into an one-man show about Daryl's solo adventure- coming across people and zombies while on the road.

I'm happy the show is back on and I can't believe it's been six months since the finale. My heart's not really in the show anymore though after the prison raid was a complete letdown. So much build up over the entire season for a quick firefight capped off by the Governor killing all his guys on the way home. I'm sure they were going for a "shocking" finale but it felt like they ran out of money needed a way to kill a lot of minor characters on the cheap.

Without the episode, "Clear," I'd probably just wait for the mid season hiatus. It was the highlight of last season and it really shows that it can be an amazing show.

I watched Season 1 a while back and while it had some promise, it really wasn't all that good, basically everything from the opening episode was downhill I thought. At times it was just straight up terrible (the ridiculously bad cheesy discussion the sisters had on the boat about their dad taking them fishing, the stilted characters like the wife beater when he told them to do the laundry).

I was going to just not watch any more, but then I recently gave season 2 a try and was pretty shocked. For all the bitching I heard, I actually liked it a lot more. Something about the characters was better, even if the action was limited. Then I got the last few episodes and it went to season 1 shit mode again. The last stand at the farm was so fucking laughably bad I couldn't believe it. I literally just sat there laughing and telling my friend about how stupid bad it was while IM'ing on Steam.

I'll probably end up binge watching season 3 since it just got added to Netflix recently, but I honestly don't know why, the characters are not interesting to me, the action is often terrible, and I just don't really think its very good.

For the people that enjoy this show, check out State of Emergency on Netflix. It reminds me of this (sorta indie feeling but decent production value zombie outbreak), only I think its better (largely because it has the appeal of this while being self contained in less than a couple of hours).

LOL, Carole is so forgettable of a character that you didn't even remember to complain about her.

Who? Let me look her up. Is that Hershel's nonexistent girl?

She was the wifebeater's wife season 1 and the mother of the girl that was the reason they dicked around on the farm for like all of season 2.

She's just a shitty one dimensional plot device sympathy character. Was vaguely interesting her interaction with Daryl in season 2 but of course the shitty writers for this show shit all over it.

My wife and I watched all of season 3 in about 3 sittings; it's the best way to experience a series, watching the entire season within a week.

Wow, nobody likes TWD here anymore?

Haters gonna hate.

I liked season 3 and am definitely looking forward to season 4... although, I thought they were idiots for killing off Andrea and Meryl. They were two of the more interesting characters.
