I think it was meant to finish her character's growth arc - she went from a girl who tried to kill herself to someone who stood up for herself & her friends - by helping Noah escape, by helping Dawn fend off the bad cop, and finally, over-confidently, stabbing Dawn to help free Noah again.

All signs pointed to Carol, but I like Carol a lot more than Beth & Carol's character still has a lot of unresolved issues. Like with Bob, he found a group, found Sasha, and found happiness again. But with Carol, that book on childhood abuse dropped out of her bag before she got hit & taken to the hospital, so she obviously still has some stuff to overcome. Plus, she's a super-central character to the show, back when her husband was beating her & when she lost her daughter. Man, that episode where her daughter came out of the barn as a zombie really got me
Daryl took the child abuse book, not carol

I think it might have just been instinct or reaction to getting stabbed thar dawn drew her gun and shot beth.

Morgan is back, just only part time for now, after the credits, lol

At the end after the credits......

What was the significance of the goo goo cluster, bullet, and purple rabbits foot placed on the alter after the credits? Just wondering.

Yeah, but once Beth was shot I would think rage would take over and the deal forgotten about. In fact, the deal was off when Dawn changed the terms by demanding Noah. I will say that it looked like the other cops didn't want any. The only one I'd worry about was the big bald one, but I think he was still cuffed. I wonder if there are any bad cops left. The rapists seemed to have all died. I dunno, in my mind those cops were rapists and slavers, and if anyone of them even looked like they might have a double crossing thought I'd start shooting! Especially if they kill one of your group. In this show, when you let people live they always come back later. Like the Merle, Gov and Terminus gang.

Ya, it was pretty clear that the rest of the cops and Dawn were separate parties. I don't recall any of the cops drawing their weapons when Dawn asked for Noah. Dawn literally stepped out further away from her group when demanding Noah. And after Daryl ended Dawn, they female cop calmed everyone down and said "it was about her (Dawn)." Probably thought Daryl did them a favor.

Cops looked like slavers, but it didn't look like any of the wards went with Rick after his offer. Safer in the hospital, more organized despite the shit they have to put up with. And Dawn said that people who leave "always" come back because of what's outside.

Thats what got me thinking about how many of the bad cops were left. It seems like the worst ones died off during the season.

I kinda think it would have been more interesting if instead of the cops running the hospital it was the "gang bangers" from season 1. They could have went through an evolution like Rick and Co did, and that could have been the result. Or tie those guys into the hospital in some way. It kinda seems strange to me that they would go back to Atlanta and those guys were not a factor. Even if their base was abandoned, or a few of them were slaves in the hospital. You would think that they would have clashed with the cops at some point.

I didn't see Beth being killed off coming at all. I did pick p on Maggie's reaction though, like some of you have said, just cause it seemed so out-of-place considering her previous lack of concern.

I am bummed about Beth though. And what's this crazy nonsense about killing Maggie? Those words should never come out of someone's mouth. Such filth should be washed out with soap.

I think they are some sort of tribute to his wife and son.

Wait, what? I thought it fell out of Carol's bag...but that would explain why Darryl had that upset look. Ahhhhh...makes sense now!

Googoo clusters are the best things ever. Northerners think I'm weird wanting that or a Moonpie :awe:

I think we all knew someone was going to die, and the writers were pointing towards Carol, which made great misdirection for Beth.

I don't think Maggie's reaction is so far out of place, after discussing it a bit - post-Terminus, she just assumed that Beth was lost, so she went forward with her life in the haze of the apocalypse like everyone else. I think the only real place the writers dropped the ball is for Maggie to have had like one moment where she was like "I miss my sister" at SOME point in this season, haha.

o rly? I also thought it came out of Carol's bag. Hmmm, I'll have to watch that again.

Yeah I guess that makes sense. Everyone's different but if I put myself in her shoes I don't think I'd be moping around 24/7 either.

No, but there is a middle ground between moping around and the writers never once showing any concern whatsoever on her part.

The child abuse book most definitely fell out of Carol's bag.
Nope, most definitely out of Daryl's bag. Hence the look on his face when Carol noticed it.

The NY Daily News and Variety also state it's Daryl's book. Besides, Daryl was the one abused as a child. Carol was abused by her husband (as far as we know.)

Huh? I could have sworn Carol was the one who took the book and had it fall out of her bag.

Very good episode. Loved the fist fight and the result at the elevator shaft. Loved the opening with Rick nailing and killing the running cop. Completely did not expect Beth to die; thought they pulled it off quite well. Really the only things I disliked were Maggie's overreaction since it seemed to come out of nowhere; Daryl's reaction made way more sense since he was essentially more attached to Beth than Maggie at this point. Writers could have done a better job setting that up. Also hated anything with the priest because he is stupid and annoying.

I think this was actually a really good mid season break episode. Essentially, all problems have been resolved, the group is whole again, and we as viewers really have no idea what trouble they will run into next.

Sad to see Beth go, she was a little cutie. I'm sure it's really hard for any actor to have to leave the show after being on it for so long.

Man that scene was so forced. I mean, you knew it was going to happen but it was just not played well.
