Of course, it had nothing to do with it. But, people who are looking for issues, will find them. Beth's story had come to an end. She was finished as far as development went. I just thought it was funny people are trying to use some idiotic ideas to "bring back" a character. They can't just bring her back, unless she is a zombie!
I wouldn't say a character not in the comics is inconsequential to the story though. Look at Daryl.
I didn't say that they can't be a part of any new story (especially their own story), just that they are ultimately inconsequential to THE story (pre-existing, of course).
They had everything from the The Shane/Rick/Lori love triangle
to the farmhouse to the prison
to the birth of Judith to Woodbury
to Michonne's appearance
to Tyresse's hammering his way out of trouble
to the fall of the prison
to the deranged kid dilemma
to their encounter with cannibals
to the wussy priest
to Abraham and Eugene's mission...
...and the only thing Daryl has really changed is Judith's name (Little Asskicker). The nickname, too, is obviously inconsequential to where the story is going if it continues to go where the comics ultimately go.
