I think the best option for surviving long-term would be a cruise ship run prison-style:

1. You're on the water, so the zombies can't get you.

2. Everyone has their own rooms & locks themselves in at night. This prevents them from escaping if they die (like the kid did in the prison shower a couple seasons ago), and also prevents other people from getting bit if they do somehow get out, because their doors are also locked. Have patrols of multiple people 24/7 to keep an eye on zombification. Perfect approach for preventing & managing outbreak imo.

3. You can go fishing for food. You can grow crops on the upper deck as well. Safer scouting parties by small boats back to the mainland.

Granted, you're the mercy of the sea (hurricanes, big waves, etc.), but then you don't risk getting overrun like you would on land, like at a prison...you could snipe any gangs trying to attack you since they'd have to approach by boat.

I much rather would have had them keep Tyrese instead of Sasha. Sasha just seems put in there to make you annoyed with her & to cause trouble with the group. Also, she's a moron for facing down Michonne.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about that guy from the first episode. Wonder what he's up to these days. He was headed to DC at the end of the last season break after he found the map by the church, which told me that they weren't going to find anything at Noah's house & would be headed back to DC. So maybe he'll bail the group out if things go bad with their "friend".

Emergency Awesome (Youtube guy) is speculating
that Morgan is in the Alexandria Safe Zone and he gave them the details on Rick's group, and thats why Aaron knows about the group. It makes sense that he would have gotten there first since Rick and co went back to Atlanta, while Morgan was going straight to that area.

Fresh water would be hard to get. You'd have to set up to catch rain or make trips to land to get some.

Not to mention you'd have to assume 100% compliance with the 'lock yourself in at night' rule and that people can/will only die in their sleep while locked in. Having been on many cruises, a cruise ship is not an ideal place to get attacked by the ninja zombies that are on this show. The corridors are narrow, there are doors, passageways, and openings everywhere - if an outbreak happens you're pretty much screwed (unless you manage to jump overboard, from 10 stories up, and then swim a few miles to shore).

Yes, its been established ad nauseam that I know nothing about tornados. I blame it on the news...I've never seen a tornado reported on outside of the midwest. Or maybe its never reported here and I am thinking of Twister.

Very few tornados make the news outside of the region they threaten. It isn't like Earthquakes. They are normal weather events with any major thunderstorm which could happen hundreds of times per year (hardly worth reporting hundreds of times). The biggest and deadliest ones happen in the plains because there is nothing to break the wind, so you hear about those.

Sasha is becoming Tyreese. Remember his berserker moment? Very similar.

I thought they met someone else first in the comics? Name rhymes with "ray loose"

Not sure who you are talking about, but Aaron was
the one of two recruiters they met first
. So far, it hasn't deviated as far as Aaron is concerned. The cannibals ("Hunters") were rolled into Terminus. The disturbed boy
.-.C.-.a.-.r.-.l.-.
had to kill became the disturbed girl Carol had to kill (Lizzie). It's time for Aaron.

Enough about tornadoes, lets talk about the show.

My question is still, if DC is only 60 miles away how come they keep walking? Why not siphon gas out of all those abandoned cars alongside the road? Even in that tank they were driving, 60 miles is only 6 gallons.

Gasoline goes bad rather quickly. It's been what, 3 years since Z-pocalypse? Realistically the overwhelming majority of gas out there should be ruined at this point, they just manage to find a working car when the power of plot compels them.

yeah not to mention all the flat batteries and flat tyres, still it's the zombie apocalypse so I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.

"Just needs a little distiller water is all"

Ugh.

Bottle-supplied batteries have about 75% charge when you activate them. They should be carrying siphons and electrolyte salvaged from auto-parts stores and raiding stations which sell Ethanol-free fuel (lasts a lot longer). Isn't there something you can add to gelled diesel to restore it? Yeah. They should have a bunch of that too.

Morgan didn't even get to Gabriel's church until at least a month after Rick and the group had left.

I've seen 6 year old gasoline stored outside still work in lawnmowers. But yeah the Sasha character adds nothing to the show. The only characters that I care about are darryl, rick, glenn, the baby and maybe maggie

I kept thinking the baby was going to get swiped by the "friends" when Carl put her down (when the zombies were slamming the door in the storm) D:

He's talking about (comic spoilers)
Jesus (rhymes with... weezus), who IIRC was the first person they encountered from the Hilltop, not Alexandria.

Honestly the only characters that keep me going are Darryl, Carol and Glenn. Maggie gets points for being the most attractive woman left and being important to Glenn, but she's hardly done anything in like two seasons. I really lost interest in Rick and Carl sometime after the attack on the prison.

Yeah, I think Darryl is my favorite character. Carol has grown on me. I used to like Glenn, but he's been super lame for a couple seasons now. I was kind of sad they killed off Beth because she was just getting interesting. Sasha is uber boring. Maggie has been pretty boring as well. I'll miss Tyrese, but I think they ended it well & at the right time, because he was who he was & wasn't going to budge.

I used to really like Rick. The story was about him. Then it became about zombies & the group rather than him. They still do character growth from time to time, but I think what made the first couple of seasons really interesting was watching him adapt his morals to the new reality: shooting the little zombie girl, shooting Carol's zombified daughter, having to kill his best friend, etc. Then a bit more when he bit the guy's neck who was trying to kill him & Carl before they got to Terminus, then again when he killed the Terminites.

Carl had potential, but is just annoying now. I like the idea of the baby character because she's such a risk - needs food, crying draws zombies, having to grow up completely in an overrun world, etc. Going back to Carol, she's had a lot of character growth as well - her abusive husband, losing her daughter, killing Tyrese's girlfriend, kind of going into a depression, but then becoming awesome when she blew up Terminus, etc.

Noah's character is kind of interesting, but I don't really care for the actor. I think I see too much Everbody Hates Chris in him, but I think he's doing a good job. I really like Morgan & wish they would use him more, especially since he was helpful in the beginning with Rick, then went bananas, and is now semi-back to sanity. I like Abraham a lot, and I think the nerdy guy is interesting & could be of more value in the future.

I understand that this show isn't 24 with fast moving plots and action, but it's slowly slipping from a "watch Sunday night" show to a "what's on the DVR? on Thursday night" show.

Yeah. I haven't been as excited I was the initial couple of seasons. They really dragged out the governor stuff forever. I'm hoping this next group of people will offer them some kind of interesting plot challenge. Groups fighting groups is getting pretty old. The zombie concept is even so old they gloss over it now, haha.

Groups fighting groups or other group interaction seems to be the entire point behind the story if you ask me. It happens time and time again in the comics from what I understand, and they seem to have already skipped a few groups and tried to hasten the march to the D.C. region.

From what I know, there should be some very interesting plots that happen once they arrive there, but the question will be, how long will they drag that out? I here some were annoyed with how long that part of the story lasted in the comics, or at least, the story of one of the characters (think: Governor).

They try to stay true to the comic series, and they take their own approach when desired but otherwise do try to follow the general plot. I suspect a lot of the gripes people have with the show are very similar to the comics (which isn't finished yet, with no answer to the Zombie plague or resolution in sight). The story, in any medium, will likely be seen as having been far too drawn out once everything is said and done, but frankly, I still enjoy it. And yep, unless it's absolutely terrible, I'm a completionist, partly because I also get wrapped up in the actual narrative structure and plots of a show to get a feel for all of it for my own purposes.

I think I would be happier with the show if I just recorded them all and marathoned them at the end of the season. The plot only develops for maybe 5 minutes per episode, so it's frustrating waiting a week for that between episodes.

Yeah, the last two episodes have felt like 10 minutes of story stretched out over an hour
