This comment actually made me able to summarize what's gone wrong with the show the last couple of season (last season in particular). It has become the TV show equivalent of clickbait. Hoping that fix that though.

Yeah, that's why I'm tentative about this season. They have a history of opening strong & then petering out. They dragged the Governor out too long & the Terminites too short. Hopefully this is like a one-season bad guy, someone who will keep it interesting but not disappear too quickly or stay too long.

Depends how they write this season, what they leave out and keep in. I believe this is a no spoilers thread so,

based on the comics, Negan will likely last more than one season. He is a huge character and I don't think they can write that entire series of events into one season. However, depending on budgets, time constraints, etc etc, they still could.

That episode was pretty much torture/gore porn and unwatchable. I'm done, wasn't a huge fan to start, but that was terrible.

No surprises for me, I was pretty sure those two were going to get it. I think they did the comic book Glenn death justice. I was getting pissed by how long they dragged it out before the reveal though. Producers better step up their game instead of relying on lame gimmicks to capture viewership.

I thought the walker at the end kneeling down to eat the leftovers was a nice touch.

I enjoyed it and I agree it was tough to watch however I can understand this point.

I can't watch Funny Games again because the killers killed a kid, that really bothered me.

And the cheap tricks... flashes of characters. I got family that is really pissed at that opening episode. Although also in large part to losing a key member that they considered... family. Like, the world could burn down around our characters as long as THOSE characters survived. As if it was their survival story to invest in.

Nope, this is a horror story filled with torture/gore porn, and yeah, that was not pleasant. I've got all sorts of mixed feelings on whether the show is worth watching at this point.

It's about time there was enough gore to match the comics...I thought over all it has been really tame and now that was a better episode.
I think its funny when people invest so much into a character, that they would lose their shit or interest in a show. I don't mind shows losing characters, in fact I enjoy it more, and it keeps it from being the same old shit over and over again like most shows do through many seasons.

I know if I were in an apocalyptic scenario where death is common. I would make a pact with anyone around me that if I'm in real trouble you save yourself. After it all ended why not just drive away in the truck and never come back.

Exactly. Other than the desire for revenge & to live in the safety (from zombies) of the town, why not just pack everyone in & drive to a few states away? It's not like Negan's reach is nationwide. The dead are dead; you can fight an army or hightail it out of there & find someplace new.

I think what bugged me more than anything about the Governor episodes was Andrea. At least that arc had a good ending with the final fight scene, everyone being scattered, etc.

My guess is that it's because of all they've been through traveling from place to place to place. At this point Rick and the crew probably assumes it's easier/better to live in relative peace and give up 50% of their stuff, than to go through what they had just endured for the past 12+ months.

Had to get up early this morning to watch it so I wouldn't see the spoilers online. Would love to wait until it's available for streaming or have the entire season on DVR but I'd have to avoid the internet a lot to not get any spoilers.

I came very late to the party with TWD, I started watching after season 5 and caught up in august with S6. It's a frustrating show but the writers know how to make me want to see the next ep.
