The Walking Dead Season 7 discussion thread (season starts 10/23/16) - get ready for Negan!

The only thing I can think of is how they came into it. The Kingdom possibly agreed to terms without the breaking. I'm not even sure if they know about Hilltop or Alexandria (well.. they know about Alexandria now, but I'm not they did before Carol and Murderstick guy showed up). There's a chance that Negan was also testing Rick's group to see how much he could get away with. Both of these are bullshit theories, but that's the best I can do with the little we have. I've little doubt sometime soon someone will tell us "They explained it in the Talking Dead", but it is a plot gap.

After episode 5 it looks like Negan's might have some sort of semi autonomous policy where different outposts might choose to be more relaxed or more oppressive. The hilltop got it bad since the local Negan tried to kill Gregory for kicks.

People have been wanting something like this forever. If anyone would do it it would have been z nation but even they didn't do it. Don't expect to see this happening.

I feel sad for saying this but this season has been a snore for me. Other than ep.1 there hadn't been much good material to be interested in and Negan is just too over the top. I know it's a show and all but c'mon now none of those dudes would let Negan continue to demean them, especially the wives part. I mean bros on principle wouldn't let that stand.

I didn't notice that in particular, but keep in mind, shooting right handed, but left eyed is a thing.

edit: also, I just looked at it, he isn't aiming anyway. He's just pointing it at people.

Negan is the only thing keeping me going anymore. He's the only character I've liked in many seasons.

Exactly, the entire situation is so preposterous that I've given up on the show. I made the mistake of watching the episode my wife DVRed from last Sunday. There is no way someone wouldn't just put a bullet in Negan's head and be done with him. It isn't like the people really love him - they fear him, and if he's gone, no one would really care.

Yep, Negan is just flat out stupid. He was good for a couple of episodes, but the more they show of the character the worse he gets. I understand that whole persona he adopts for dealing with rivals, over the top like that when smacking down Rick and the gang. But the with his own people? Unless they do a massive divergence, you'll be waiting for a very very very long time.. If the Gov showed us anything, they'll keep a character around for way past usefulness. If anything expect a few more years of him, followed by a bunch of episodes devoted to explaining in extreme detail on why he doesn't like peas. Spoiler alert: They're mushy but it ties into some past problem while he was putting the Saviors together so the worshipers of this show can say with a straight face it matters..

I think Negan is going to die soon. They have to do it, they can't have a guy this over the top from day one and maintain it. He's already nothing more than a caricature and he gets worse with every episode. They've begun setting him up to get whacked. Rick's group is pretty much at the end of their rope, they can't keep scavenging enough to satisfy Negan's demands and Rick will have to make a move to keep control as his people are nearing revolt. The women's offshoot group that Tara met is a likely ally and they have lots of guns. And the writers are already setting up the fractures in Negan's group, the iron scene was the last straw for Dwight. He's turned and will become an ally of Daryl. Daryl escapes, they use his knowledge of the insides of Negan's group, use the women's weapons, get a helping hand from Dwight, an assist from Jesus and Negan goes bye-bye. The Saviors might stick around as an ongoing enemy, but without Negan at the head.

I like this season more than most simply because Negan is actually interesting. He plays tons of mindgames and you never know exactly what he's going to do. He's over the top, and yea, you ask yourself, why don't they just kill him...but you know..its fiction. fiction people.
