So much for Morales being a badass but Maggie did scare me a little when she yelled at Gregory.

How long till we find out about Gabriel? Way to milk out a storyline.

How about we cut out the mandatory these days gay scenes. Wait ,I guess we did with whats his names death but I hear Kevin Spacey is looking for work.

Another meh episode. "When you come at the King you best not miss" yeah, right. These last 2 episode have made me hope they didnt.

Theres no such thing as a Mandatory Gay Scene these days.
They do it because gays are people and the show is about people.

It's hard to pin down but I think my fundamental problem with this season has been the choppiness/pace of each episode thus far. Whatever art direction they chose this seasin has resulted in a hodge podge of scenes slapped together in odd order for no particular reason. I won't say it's hard to follow, but it's not particularly engaging.

Its been running for almost 8 years. I think the directors and cameramen were getting bored so they decided to mix it up, try different things, keep it fresh or interesting.

It's because they're doing those weird artsy close-up shots of all of the main characters.

I've actually enjoyed the pacing of the first few episodes so far...all of them have kept me interested the whole time. No fluff...yet.

I don't know, what's the point of even having him alive anymore? Its not like he gets anymore dialog and just grunts all the time. There has been no character development for him in a long time.

I feel like the show is loosing its direction and going off the comics to much. The writers need to mix things up and get it off the rails in a good way.

So, is the King still smiling? I sure wasnt while I was listening to the least motivational speech ever. Sure his followers arent zombies yet the way they flocked to him. Maybe they just wanted to shut him up. Least we probably wont hear that brain dead phrase again.

More flashbacks in this episode that make it not so easy to follow along. The pacing is just so off with these inserted into every episode now. I wouldn't even fault someone for forgetting about Negan and Gabriel locked in the trailer by now.

They've done a pretty good job keeping up the momentum so far...hope it carries over the whole season!

I binge watched the first seven seasons and really got into the show. I was so looking forward to this season but now I'm wondering just what it was I saw in the series.

Negan bothers me because he's like a cartoon character in a lot of ways; I don't feel that he's super realistic. Shane was good because he was realistic. Even the Governor was good...trying to protect his people, going crazy over the loss of his daughter, trying to get it back together in his wandering phase, but then falling back on old habits. Then the crew sniped the guys on Negan's roof this season, Negan & his whole upper-management team walks outside, and they did zilch, despite Rick's big speech about only one person having to die today.

I also wish that they had done more with the Termites; they built up to it so much & then just kind of ended it quickly & moved on. But, they're on a production schedule & they're a popular show, and it's hard to be creative when you're pressed for time. Just look at lost...iirc they were only slated for 3 seasons (and the first 2 season were beyond excellent), but got stretched out 6 due to popularity, and it just got worse & worse. I feel like Breaking Bad is one of the few shows that really did an A to Z great job across the board...pretty much every episode was good, every season was good, and they didn't end it in a dumb way.

Yeah, Carol is going to have to go out in a big way. I feel like her arc is coming to an end, maybe even as early as this season. Poor Darryl

Mid season finale really pissed me off. Not because of the 'shocking' ending, but because from last episode to this episode made ZERO sense.

They didn't have people watching the compound to take out anyone who tried to escape after Daryl drove thru it?
They just went back to their respective places with no guards or early warning for retaliation?
Saviors just happened to be able to round up, plan and engage such a divided massive retaliation in a few short hours?
Where did the garbage people go?
Where'd all their snipers go?
Rick gets lucy..and does THAT? WTF.

etc....just one thing after another of really bad writing. I mean..it's never been amazing..but come on..some consistency would be nice. This was the equivalent of a horror movie where they think the bad guy is dead and everything is okay but they never found his body.

What you said seems to be consistent with every review of the episode I've read. It was frustratingly bad, due largely to everyone referring to "Eugene" as the means of the Saviors' escape but then not spending 5 minutes of flashback time to actually show how this escape happened. It was entirely nonsensical that they manage to escape, take out the snipers that were supposedly watching all the exits, and then magically launch a full-scale assault on 3 different settlements including a roadside ambush all within what the show presented as the span of maybe 1 - 2 days (during which they were presumably more preoccupied with the zombies on their ground floor). Perhaps it's better that we didn't get spoon-fed the explanation because it's probably more absurd than just not knowing.

I don't know at this point. I'm starting to think that watching Family Guy on my DVR might be a better way to spend 9:15 PM to 9:45 PM on Sunday nights.

Maggie wrote something along the lines of, 'we have 38 more, stand your ground'. She put the body of Negan's follower that she assassinated in the coffin. The guy Carl helped was there.

It looks like the show will be following the comics. Carl gets bit and dies. They can't bear to lose him, so Michonne cuts his jaw and arms off and puts him on a leash.

I gotta say, it's shaping up to be a faithful adaptation from the source material.
