Negan came off as a bit of a caricature because he's untouchable. They walk a fine line...if everyone in his crew has been through what Rick's group just went through, then that 110% explains the loyalty to him. It's like why none of the Germans killed Hitler...not because there weren't people who disagreed with him, but they knew the consequences of doing so. On the flip side...we know that every excursion outside of the gates is a question mark, a dice roll.

Well, they did try to assassinate Hitler and literally blew him up but failed to kill him.

In this world? Someone could have "accidentally" tripped and killed him -- they didn't mean it, but they were sorry?

And in this world where an army is maybe 100 people strong and everyone has guns -- Hitler had a million plus strong army, 24/7 security, Gestapo, and brainwashed child soldiers. No one's gone into the woods and capped this guy in the ass yet? Opportunity around every corner, no way you can get away with being this big a prick.

It was cool that Negan broke Rick. Great acting on Rick's part..."now that's the face I want to see!"
Do you mean great acting by the actor portraying this emotion? Or that Rick was faking and he's still 110% bad ass? B/c honestly I think Rick is Negan's puppet now.. You say what he did to Rick's people, right in front of them, with absolutely 0% remorse. He is legitimately afraid and suppressed at this point. That may change in the future, but there's no way he's gonna do anything about it right now.

This may come across as a little wonky given that we're watching a show about zombies, but this Negan character comes across as too comic-booky and just isn't doing it for me. I get that he's from the comics, but not everything translates well from comics to screen. The whole episode I'm just thinking this guy is a bad caricature and so I'm having issues taking him seriously. A weird complaint I know, but just how he comes across to me.
Negan was comic-booky even in the comic book, lol. The missing profanity isn't doing him any favors either.

Great acting by the actor playing Rick, showing a character who had a meltdown, in response to Negan's words & actions.

He's broken for now, but you know he's going to come back swinging...Negan is going to meet the business end of that axe...

Agree on both. Plenty of foreshadowing there I imagine.

Let's get ready for a season of emo Rick... woooooo!

It'll be interesting to see where things go from here... Definitely new fodder for the writers. The whole point of Negan, I assume, is to make them vulnerable again and get them out of Alexandria. Waves of walkers attacking the gates just isn't scary anymore.

The only thing that keeps this series going is character development and they have to keep coming up with new characters to keep people interested.... I just wonder how many more seasons they can go before no one officially cares anymore or before they have to take out more of the main characters to get people watching again. Eventually, I see this show turning into LOST. Writers are going to keep going down different paths and viewers are going to learn that there never was a plan and that they've been suckered into wasting their time. I only watch this show for one reason and it has nothing to do with zombies or any of the characters... =P

Wasting your time is watching 90% of the other drivel that passes for 'Must see TV' these days. You wanna see garbage, turn on Bravo and watch an endless stream of reality TV junk. I will take Lost, even the last season, or TWD any day of the year compared to the mindless drivel that encompasses the rest of the airwaves. Its rare that we get a show that engages us or even has us talking about it a day or two later.

"A... hatchet?" LOL I love the way Negan said that and the expression on his face.

"A... hatchet?"

I grew up watching Cheers, Seinfeld, etc... I've probably talked more about those shows in my life than any others. I don't watch any of the newer sitcoms, but like the concept of having little invested in the series. I want to be able to see everything I need to in one episode instead of the soap opera style writing things have evolved to.

When you have young kids, it's really tough to find time to watch adult television without them being asleep. I really don't miss TV as much as you'd think...
