How do they celebrate Christmas? Is it by going to church/mass? Or is it by covering their house in twinkling lights, decorating a tree, baking cookies with their families and telling their children that a big fat man in a red suit snuck down their chimney in the middle of the night and left them presents? That latter version of Christmas is hugely secularized already, to the point that the entire religious meaning of Christmas has been replaced with an inundation of "Only __ shopping days left until Christmas!" before you've had a chance to digest your Thanksgiving feast. You want to talk about the war on Christmas? It isn't the people saying "Happy Holidays" who have changed the meaning of the holiday, it's the marketing executives who have done a bang-up job replacing Jesus with Santa over the past 60 years. Christmas, the celebration of the birth of the Christ, has turned into the biggest commercialized shopping event of the year, something which Jesus probably would have abhorred. The "War on Christmas" isn't someone saying "Happy Holidays," it's the replacement of your messiah with products, and it's a war that was lost a long time ago.

But, yes, clearly it's the "Happy Holidays" that really changed the meaning of Christmas.

Bingo!!

100% agree.

I like the Simpsons episode "Homer's Phobia" with John Waters... where he says the Japanese refer to Santa as "Annual Gift Man".

I wish you all would quit arguing with incorrigible. Judging by how dense he is, it may just be cybrsludge's alternate account.

The difference is this about Christmas, its a lot more than offending, its an attempt to secularize the holiday and its part of the culture war. As well you dont even notice the difference. When people say happy holidays to people who celebrate Christmas its not being offended but an attempt to snub them of their day and make it more secular.

The last time I checked most people in this country celebrate Christmas

You're completely missing the mark here. There are tons of people who say 'Merry Christmas' that treat it as a completely secular holiday.

I always laugh at the people bitching about 'Happy Holidays' who haven't step foot in a church since their kids were baptized.

It's not an either / or situation. They do both.

Why should schools be celebrating Christmas? Shouldn't that be done at home and in church?

Now that we are in 2013 what's the next ginned up CEC war? President's Day? Super Bowl Sunday? Valentines Day?

We know it won't be ML King's birthday.

There is no such thing as a "CEC"

You are correct, its a term used to describe a phenomenon in which conservatives ignore facts for fantasy.

A byproduct of this is that if you are subject to this phenomenon you have no clue and therefore don't understand it exists.

But the difference was that they posted the truth, look at the idiotic thread by techs about the tax cuts and the moron leftists joining him when HE WAS LYING

You are a hypocrite

Then call him a liar... but truth and lies are not exclusive to either normal threads or circle-jerk threads.

Your comment about truth/lies is irrelevant.

I am not selfish, remember that the US is a Christian country and we shouldn't have to pander to special interest groups and other religions, they can celebrate their holidays but dont try to put down Christmas.

I never said people who dont celebrate Christmas should leave but the people that are trying to end it and wage the war should leave, there is a difference.

Not for long bro. Christianity is dying in the western world and good riddance!
