Let me give you a SERIOUS reply there even if it's clear that the pastor who posted this is a troll.

I am not religious and I don't go to church. But I feel that Christmas is a part of our culture, whether someone believes in Jesus or nor. I always loved Christmas and this includes the silly and kitchy symbols, whether it's Santa, Christmas trees or red nosed rendeers.

I pisses me off to no end when PC is overtaking wanting to remove what is foundations of our Western culture. NO OTHER CULTURE does that.

I think Starbucks "explanation" idiotic and I don't support this. There is no reason that we need to "hide" our cultural identity, our holidays and symbols. Nada. NULL.

I think the pastor is an idiot "...because Starbucks hates Jesus"...but Starbucks are idiots as well saying "...we want everyone tell their story"...pseudo/fake justification what is just another form of PC to please some minorities. Pretty lame.

So you are upset about a manufactured cultural identify not be shoved down everyone's throats? Its funny when the people complaining about how "PC" things are getting are usually the whiniest people.

Read the post I was responding to.

Saying McVeigh wasn't motivated by religion is irrelevant.

He was a Christian and he was a TERRORIST.
That picture and comment ("What about bombing your office building?") was a direct response to "Christians arent going to suicide bomb your house and behead your dog". There must be some kind of deep subtlety I missing here. His Christian upbringing had nothing to do with his actions, yet you specifically mention it. So I'm confused...are you trying to make the case that this is also somehow true of those who behead and suicide bomb others (ala ISIS) who don't share their religious ideology?

that is your opinion, not a fact.

McVeigh was in the military, surely we must suspect everyone in the military for causing this.

His parents divorced when he was young. Let's blame parents who refuse to get along with each other for creating the terrorists in this country!

He was a computer hacker growing up. So, obviously, that helped lead him to his actions, let's label all computer hackers as terrorists!

I could find no evidence that religion had anything to do with the OK City bombing. If you have information to the contrary, this would be a good time to present your "opinion". People are such a trip sometimes.

I can't wait to wage war against Christmas this year, when I tell people Happy Holidays in response to them telling me Merry Christmas.

Well you have people like Joshua Feuerstein who are making a big deal out of this. He even touts his handgun in his vid bitching about it and uses veiled threats of violence. This man has almost 2 million followers on Facebook. If this were a Muslim doing this, people in the US would be freaking out about it.

Something is happening at the Walmart dude!

What exactly are you arguing?

It is right to be overly angry at Christianity because some people are overly angry at Muslims?

No, you said this is only a news story because a vast amount of people want to bash religion and that only a minuscule amount of Christians are making a big deal about this. I'm pointing out that a Christian with almost 2 million sheep who follow him is freaking out and has over 150,000 people that have liked his video freaking out. This isn't about people wanting to bash religion, this is about Christian zealots who outnumber ISIS, Boko Haram, and Al Quaeda combined using violent rhetoric about something as idiotic as a fucking coffee cup. And you can't dismiss this behavior when you know were a Muslim using even remotely as aggressive language that the public would freak out. Right wing evangelical Christians are becoming more zealous and more violent in this nation and it's a problem that can't be ignored.

You are improperly placing too much value on facebook followings & youtube like clicks.

In my own experiences in life, I know far, far more people who get a thrill out of bashing religion than I know religious people upset over the Starbucks cup design.

I mean, if you want to look at facebook following numbers and let your imagination run wild and use that as the formation of your views and beliefs, that's entirely on you. Seriously, if your post is what you actually believe and not just bullshitting around on an internet forum for fun, then you have achieved nut-job status.

that's not what you said, you stated that his christian upbringing had nothing to do with his actions.

i hope you realize that it is possible for a person to be raised by religious extremists which can lead to them doing horrible things. not necessarily in the name of the particular religion but from their oppressive and shitty upbringing.

you have derailed this thread enough though.

I disagree with you. Do you have anything backing up your supposition?

http://www.ethicsdaily.com/an-accurate-look-at-timothy-mcveighs-beliefs-cms-15532

There is no doubt that Timothy McVeigh was deeply influenced by the Christian Identity movement. Christian Identity is a profoundly racist and theocratic form of faith that developed in the late 1970s and spread like wildfire through rural communities throughout the U.S. in the 1980s. -

your exact quote as i just stated... "His Christian upbringing had nothing to do with his actions"

don't blame your comprehension problems on me.
Wow. I've searched and searched and couldn't find anything that suggests his Christian upbringing had anything to do with the OK City bombing. He was an avowed agnostic and he never used religion to justify any of his crimes. But perhaps you found something I missed. If so, please share because one of us is having some fairly serious ignorance issues it seems.

The only reason I'm waging war on Christmas, is because it's starting earlier and earlier every year!

Next year, people are going to be decorating for Christmas the day after Independence Day!

Just keep Christmas confined to December and I'll be happy.

+1

I used to conscientiously avoid places that advertised Christmas before Thanksgiving, then we got Black Friday which I accepted with a small grumble since it was the day after Thanksgiving and the adds which talked deals were less traditional Christmas and more about still the start of the Christmas shopping mania;

This year I've seen adds for fake Christmas Trees; Home Depot and others and it isn't even "my day" as I call Veteran's Day. I agree; next thing we'll have is Get us merchants in the Black 5th of July sale.

All any festival day around the winter solace has become is a shopping frenzy; Christians have no excuse; they moved Jesus of Nazareth's B-day to take over pagan holiday's - I have no sympathy for the OP, his fight was lost a half decade ago. Christmas was a day for family and kids when I was a kid; by the 60's it had become a day before the after Christmas sale. By the 70's it became a day for whatever new ceremony someone wanted;

Can anyone tell me the significance of Kwanzaa except "screw the Christians, Jews, and Muslims (All religions in Africa) we need yet another day. Northern Hemisphere you celebrated the renewal of the year or when the days started to get longer. Sothern hemisphere not so much to celebrate.

So we celebrate
Yule: (Pagan winter solstice)
Yalda: (Persian winter solstice)
Hanukkah: (8 days of re-dedication the Second Holy Temple
Mōdraniht: or Mothers' Night, the Saxon winter solstice festival.
Saturnalia: the Roman winter solstice festival; later the day the Sun.
Pancha Ganapati: 21–25 December – Ganesha gets five days; Jesus only one.
Bodhi Day: celebrating the day Buddha was Enlightened.
Etc...

So why not when Jesus of Nazareth was conceived; If you hold credence new testament of the bible it could well be that the archangel Michael slipped Mary the magic immaculate conception potion around the winter solstice time and most likely that Jesus was born in late September.

What does it matter; Northern Hemisphere , around that time of year; bout 4 days after the solstice people two thousand years ago could tell the days were getting longer (woo-hoo let's celebrate)

OP read Timothy 6:18
