There is a reason for Christians to be mad. Some corporations make a majority of their annual profit during the November and December months. They do it promoting Christmas. So Christians can be offended if not treated right. And why can every other group be offended and not Christians? To deny them this sounds like discrimination and hate speech to me.

I'm in Starbucks now. 2/3rds of the people got a red cup. I got a regular Starbucks cup. I have no idea why.

The menu signs are in red, as well as the majority of cups. The store is covered in red and green packaging, some of which are gift wrapped. They have Merry Christmas gift cards for sale. They are selling Christmas in their stores, not Winter Solstice. Corporations do not celebrate Atheist religious holidays. Reason. No profit in it. Stop the hypocrisy!

Damn straight!

Also, just for shit and giggles, can you explain the link between red and green and Christianity?

What?
Christians should be offended because Starbucks is not actively promoting their religion? That sounds suspiciously like something a stupid person would say. I'm not sure you know what "discrimination" or "hate speech" actually are, if you believe the absence of actively promoting the Christian religion/holiday qualifies as either.
Get back to me when Starbucks is printing "HAIL SATAN!" on their cups, and playing Negativland's "Christianity is Stupid" in their stores.

For all intents and purposes Christmas in America is a secular holiday with Christian roots in exactly the same way that Christmas used to be a Christian holiday with pagan roots. You can cry, gnash your teeth all you want but look around. The number of Christmas themed items in modern culture that even mention Jesus is minuscule.

Beyond that though it is a cup at a coffee chain. Instead of getting worked up over that crap why don't these Christians go out and help some people. Spend their energy making the world a better place, like something Jesus might do.

Agreed on both counts. There was a great meme I saw on FB this morning but can't find it elsewhere... basically it was the Starbucks cup: Christians getting upset over missing snowflakes -- completely ignore the pagan goddess logo.

In its place, I offer this light chortle.

At Starbucks again. Got a red cup. No line so the barista didn't need to ask my name. Too bad. I was going to say Merry Christmas.

Evangelical Christians... Go figure.
They get their religion from the sides of coffee cups and what a child does or doesn't do in a school classroom.
Or what is or is not allowed on federal grounds.
I suppose it wouldn't occur to them their true source of religious enlightenment should be limited to the bible or a building of worship better known as the church?
There must be a name for this type of mental illness?
