It is so sad that I was looking at the 10 day weather "prediction" on weather.com and I wasn't sure the weather for April 1 is a joke or not. High of 50 degrees and low of 38 but yet they predicted it's going to rain, snow, sleet. This is for the northeast btw.

10 days out is usually hit or miss for a prediction, but april 1st is tomorrow, so it could be pretty accurate.

I really hope it's a joke, although they are staying put with the 6-12" of snow prediction for my area for tomorrow.

I thought I was done snow-blowing for the year.

they can't forecast beyond 2 days out, maybe 3, so I don't see why they have these always-change-long-range-forecasts.

i wouldn't say it is the best but the easiest, cause doesn't matter if you right or wrong.

my favorite is when they predict between 1" - 12" of snow

Ummm.... weather is a science. It's called Atmospheric Science, and that is what many Meteorologists major in.

Not all weathermen are meteorologists. However, most stations typically have a small, one person weather department. They get the raw data and make their own forecasts based on it. That's why they hire specialists. Large stations may have multiple weather people but just one who's actually the meteorologist.

A lot of work goes into this stuff. The anchors o far more than look pretty for the camera.

I double-majored in Atmospheric Sciences and Geography. Most of the people I keep in touch with from the AS side work for the Weather Service and don't care for the shift work at all.

If I was going to go back into weather, I would most definitely work for one of the private forecasting companies like Accuweather.
