Affirmative action is/was an attempt to correct the literally decades of racism and discrimination against minorities.

I am confused as to why you believe attempts to rebalance a vastly unbalanced equation is racism? You claim to believe in equality, but you don't want to take the steps to get there?

Using racism to fight racism. What could go wrong?

So, nothing about the whiteness forum, just passive aggressive comments about me? Cool bro. Keep defending your brand of racism, you racist.

You can call me whatever names you want, I don’t care. If you want to contribute to our conversation though feel free. Why do you think you lack critical thinking skills?

Who here called you a racist? B you might be. You might not be. Thats nothing to do with the point here. Republicans do racist as F shit .. are you a Republican? Does that make you racist? At some level you gotta check that out with yourself. At what point are you not able to reconcile the actions of your party?

I'm independent. Today the left on the whole is more racist, they just package it differently than the right. Sure, there are fringe elements on the far right that are pure racists, Nazi's, KKK, etc. But the left has their groups too. But the difference is while on the whole the right rejects such groups that fall under the "right" umbrella, the left embraces their racist groups and white guilt, creating victims, keeping the plantation going strong are mainstream Democrat principals.

The team I hired consists of four white men (two vets), a Puerto Rican man, an Indian woman, and an African American (well, he's working on citizenship, I will be at his ceremony). I only got two other applications from minorities, neither were qualified, it had nothing to do with skin color. I rejected probably a dozen other white people (I have no idea what applications were rejected via HR before they got to me though).

It is confusing why you would think that is relevant.

Yea, I'd have tons more scholarship options and a better chance at getting hired.

So what’s your opinion on free higher ED for all?
Will you support Alexandria the NY Representative that has people who sound like you in such a bind?

Empirical evidence disagrees with you. Higher levels of racial resentment is predictive of Trump support.

I think that anyone that wants an education has plenty of inroads to that as is today. Making it even easier for people cannot always be the answer, it lowers work ethic and their general view of how the world works. It is good to have to put in a little (or even a lot) effort to achieve a goal.

I do think that costs have spiraled out of control, though. There was a time when someone could work and save for summer and afford the upcoming semester of college. I'd like it to be like that again.

It's also not 'persecution' to acknowledge the obvious reality that if you're a white man, all else being equal your life will be easier for you than if you're say, a black woman.

This is simply empirically established fact. The problem is that spidey runs almost entirely on feelings so facts don't matter to him.

This is exactly it. The right/neo-reactionaries are so hung up on identity and victimhood that they understanding everything in those terms. Anything negative about "their team" is an insult. I'm a white man, and can acknowledge the privilege this has given me, and the history of white oppression. Without taking personal responsibility for it, but always being aware of it and cognizant of how I see/treat other people, especially subconscious bias. Of course there's not point trying to reason with these people, when they are incapable of subtleties and nuance, all they see is "team white"

I was a high school dropout but today I have a master’s degree and a comfortable life that I am very happy with. I came from a middle class white family though. It is unlikely if I dropped out of high school as a poor black kid that I would be in the same situation today.

I had to work hard to get where I am, no doubt. That doesn’t change the fact that I had advantages that gave me the ability to screw up and still have a decent life. Some people have trouble admitting their advantages because they are insecure and think it invalidates them. It doesn’t, it’s just recognizing reality.

What advantages did you have? Also, is "advantage" the same as "privilege" to you?

Then why do you want a free education grant?

However this is one of those topics that’s tricky. Guys like you wants everyone to pay for College. That means there is a profit which will ultimately drive up the cost and bring more value priced solutions to the market like the failed ITT Tech which was more about running for profit than providing education. This could be regulated but that’s something I’d guess you wouldn’t want either.
Guys like me think the less fortunate should get some money for school, however that also means school will get more expensive for everyone else. I know if I had a business and I knew nearly all my customers got $15-40k per year in loans and grants, I am not pricing my business at $2k per year, I’d likely price it at $35k.
I’ve come to the realization that to produce an educated work force State schools need to be free or nearly free. That is the only way we are going to have an educated work force and have some price caps on private schools.

Please explain, asshole. I'd like to know how a minority vote doesn't count. Please elaborate, asshole.

lol. it's clear that you are woefully unexposed to real news that is actually happening in the world around you.

White people are so disenfranchised these days...if only they had more representation in Congress then all these crises could be solved!!!

Is this a photo to show how to look scruffy even when wearing a posh suit? I don't get how they all managed to get suits that don't fit?

People vote for who they think is best for the position. This is how democracy works. I wonder what percentage of minorities run? I myself am an atheist, can I be victim too? I don't get representation in congress.

I'm pretty sure you get the majority of representation in Congress.

Look at minimum wage, once that was firmly established it became the bar companies lowered hourly pay to. I think college became much the same once the government stated getting into the loan business and subsidizing. Colleges went up to that loan limit when they used to be much less expensive. Just another example of how when government gets involved things often become worse.
