I suppose it actually makes sense. This country is littered with self segregated neighborhoods. I should have expected that employment would look similar, except under threat of law to try and prevent it. Still, I wonder if they accounted for differences in 1: education levels and 2: criminal background checks. Factors that benefit a demographic as a whole, but not to individuals who don't match the stereotype.

If you read the study you will see those are controlled for, yes. It’s a meta-analysis so it covers a really wide range of different factors.
Honestly is it really that surprising? People tend to hire people who look and think like them. More white people own businesses than black or Hispanic people so, well, yeah.

The team I hired consists of four white men (two vets), a Puerto Rican man, and Indian woman, and an African American (well, he's working on citizenship, I will be at his ceremony). I only got two other applications from minorities, neither were qualified, it had nothing to do with skin color. I rejected probably a dozen other white people (I have no idea what applications were rejected via HR before they got to me though).
