Yeah, we had a big storm and lost power off and on. Thought that was it until I saw the email.

Investigating

Wink hubs and Link hubs are currently not able to transmit or receive data to or from the Wink API. We are investigating with extreme urgency.

Looks like it's back here.

So I tried exluding/including the sensor again and no dice.

This is how it shows up if I pair it as a generic z-wave sensor, or try to add it as a GoControl door sensor:...

Not sure about that one. Haven't seen that before. Looks like maybe it's not sending whatever parameter that lets the hub know what it is.

Have you tried going under hub - Zwave controls - Inclusion Mode - and installing it that way?

Might give them a call. They seem to have some higher-level admins who can alter some of the settings for individual devices in the database. I had to have them do something similar with one of the GoControl PIR sensors that I was having problems with. If you have it paired and included then maybe they can set whatever else it needs to be seen properly as a sensor.

just got my Philips Hue Lux Kit ($80), switched all my GE link bulbs over it to, and now have local control of all through the Hue Bridge. Not to mention my Amazon Echo now control them via voice control as well!

nice to have that immediate response through the app and also voice.

Slick! How are you liking the Echo so far?

its pretty awesome as far as a BT device...voice recognition is great. Playing music is great. Controls my lightbulbs with no delay. Looks like Amazon just announced they are opening it up for developers too so I'd imagine control for things like Nest, and other connected devices is only a short time away as well.

A few questions if you don't mind:

1. Which local control system do you have setup?
2. How did you integrate Echo into it?
3. Do you know if the local control system works if Wink is not cloud-connected?

After the last couple of outages, I'm thinking about switching my Wink to 100% local control & blocking online access via my router. Don't know if the Hub will let the local controller play nice in that scenario. Could always just VPN (or another alternative) into home for offsite control as well.

Well lets back up a little...

I don't have local control technically, but I use the Philips Hue Bridge to control all of my zigbee bulbs which provides immediate response (may or may not be local control specifically)

Echo now natively supports Philips Hue and Wemo, so it just works. Wink officially announced in a broad statement that they will integrate with Amazon Echo, so I'm sure more control of Wink/connected devices will start to trickle in.

One of my GE bulbs completely refuses to sync now from the app. I deleted it and it won't re-add, so I've emailed quirky about a replacement.

This whole wink experience continues to be worth no more than I paid, and that wasn't much. I would definitely not recommend anybody get into this thing. Hopefully I can ride it out for a while longer since it [mostly] turns my lights on and off when it should.

What you have to do in addition to deleting it from the app is to reset the bulb. You do this by turning the bulb on at the switch waiting 5 seconds and shutting it off. Repeat the sequence five times. The bulb will dim briefly and then it's reset. Proceed to install via the app and it should work.

Thanks! I did email quirky and got similar response:
Sorry you're having trouble with your GE Link bulb! One thing you could try is to reset the bulb before attempting to add it into the account again. In order to do this, just turn the bulb on for three seconds, then off for three seconds. On for three seconds, off for three seconds. You might have to repeat this process up to 5 or 6 times, but the bulbs should dim down then light right back up to the full brightness. This lets you know that the bulb has been reset and you can go ahead and add it in as a new product.

I have reset it. I never saw the dimming because 3 seconds isn't long enough too maybe but upon trying to add again I have been successful.

I have to give credit that quirky got back to me really quickly, like an hour or two.

I have a couple of outdoor lights on Leviton Switches that I would like to have come on for a few hours each evening. ROBOTS require sensing some event in order to work. Is there a way to do a simple timer function? I know using the Wink to do this may be overkill, but I need the Wink for detecting movement on my Dropcams, etc., so might as well have a timer function too. ^_^

Thanks,

Lamar

Duh! Just found the answer to my own question. I had not noticed the Scheduling feature under lights until just now.

tlfoster, there is a schedule function. Wink App -> Lights & Power -> Settings (three dots top right) -> Scroll to the bottom -> Schedule.

You can set a time or set it based on sunrise/sunset. To turn it off again, set a time in the schedule. There are some features coming that will make turning them off a little more dynamic, but I'm pretty sure they aren't public yet so I'm not at liberty to say.

I cant remember where I read it recently but someone posted a small edit to Craig Trunzo's Tasker wink app that stops Google Now from beginning to play (audibly) search results before tasker initiates the command. Does anyone recall where this small modification can be found????

Really looking forward to the upcoming native Echo control & Local Control features. Now I just need some moola for electric shades for the whole house! Sadly insurance for the windows didn't pan out

Just got a hub update today and now at version 1.1.0. Anyone know what is in this update?

Not sure about the firmware, but I know the new app supports timers and I'm guessing the firmware assists with this as well.

I got the 1.1 update as well. Lights seem fine but I didn't receive an email notification from my wife's garage door Tripper when she left this morning. Also, when I didn't get the email and looked at the Wink app this morning, it appeared the door had not even been triggered; a few minutes later it appeared to update and the logs show it did trigger but still no email.

I'm pretty pleased with Wink the last couple of months -- it has been pretty stable for me. I think the only thing I really need at this point is local control, as I currently have two Lutron Caseta switches in my bar and turning one on triggers a robot to turn the other on. There is a delay ranging from a couple of seconds to four or five seconds and I really need that to go away.

That's just it - It wasn't his change. Someone else made a small modification

The edit is as follows.
To prevent voice search output you need to edit winkvoicereceived task and add new step at the beginning. + app - go home, page 0

This will stop tasker from triggering google now's audible search results when you aren't searching but asking tasker to run a wink command

Yes, more half-baked functionality. I also see the suggestion of future 'Apple Watch' support. I'd suggest that Wink figure out how to make my light bulb operate (on / off) on a more than 60% success ratio first.

I have a new hub and 6 GE Link bulbs. The bulbs all seem to take turns on who is going to 'ignore' the daily schedule. You cant imagine the thrill when i get a successful 24-hour schedule.

We need local support. The reliance is diluted as the 'commands' bounce all over the internet before doing their jobs.
