This isn't going to be much - or any - help, but I have an Intermatic PE653/5043 Z-Wave controller. I haven't found the courage or time to pair it to my Wink. Getting to your first question, I have had such horrible failure on simple generic Z-Wave sensors and switches that I'm not ready to chance my pool controller to Wink.Has anyone had much luck with generic z-wave devices? I had no issue setting up some GE bulbs and my Schlage lock, but no luck with a z-wave CA3750 Intermatic switch to run my pool pump.

I picked up a Schlage lock yesterday. The zero-degree temperatures finally got the best of my ancient deadbolt, so I needed a same-day replacement. Works pretty good! Pricey at $199, but it does have a lot of features:
1. Key
2. Number pad
3. Z-wave (with Wink support for lock & unlock)
The keypad is fairly dim in the bright sun. You can pretty much guess at where the numbers are, or just shield your hand over it if needed. However, my only real complaint is how cheap the electronics inside look, specifically the battery connector. The whole setup feels like a cheap Chinese R/C car that you get from the drugstore...it has a pull-out plastic tray for the batteries with a little 9V-style connector plug. It would be VERY easy to accidentally rip the battery connector wire harness out of the unit. The connector is pretty snug once you put it on, so you have to be extra-careful when removing it to pull out the battery tray not to rip those wires out:

Other than that, everything is peachy so far! Looks really nice & operation is easy. To leave the house, you unlock the door, shut it from the outside, and press the Schlage button, which locks the door with the motor. To enter, press the Schlage button again & the keypad lights up (or use a key or Z-wave). Inside the house, just manually turn the deadbolt knob to lock. I'll see how it does over the next week with my Wink system.
Batteries died today. They've been going for a couple weeks now - most noticeably, the Schlage logo ...
Looks like they've disabled the ability to include the Kwikset locks in shortcuts again. They were there and I had things working until recently. I think it changed as of the last time I updated the app.
Can you still put the Schlage locks into a shortcut?
Well here i am running the pool with a Leviton plugin module. Even if rated to 1/2hp 15amps I have been running a 1.5hp pump for a month now. I have a schedule that power on at 7am and power off at 7pm. Working like a charms.Has anyone had much luck with generic z-wave devices? I have two Kwikset locks and I can put them in Shortcuts (lock or unlock). Robots, however, cannot unlock the door; only lock.
Kwikset 912 lever lock and 914 deadbolt.
For $20, I had to get one; but I have no idea what I'll do with it. Really afraid I'm getting in too deep with Wink. Hopefully, STv2 will support all this stuff.
I found this on deal news:
Walmart has the power pivot genius on sale for $20.

Good news. I've got one of those, but have never used it. I'm following your adventure - please document with as much detail as possible.SO I ordered a $12 GE 18 device z-wave controller(1-9 on/off buttons and shift 1-9), went up to the pool pump with the CA3750. Ran a delete device from network. Then ran an add to network. Then ran add device to remote device 1 and it all worked on the first try.
So now I have a ~50' on/off remote for the pool pump. Next trick is to see if I can then migrate the device to Wink control.
Will update if I get it to work. Then I can add a schedule.

Did the Android app get updated too? I haven't checked my Nexus 7 yet.
Wink app for iOS today added several features including ability to put Hue lights in groups, shortcuts and robots. Hurray! Did the Android app get updated too? I haven't checked my Nexus 7 yet.
