The trippers work great for me. Response time is usually fast but as usual that depends on latency to winks servers. Only beef I have is the battery life witch they say they are working on a fix for

What's the verdict on the Wink Trippers? I got in on the 50% off coupon but haven't mounted mine yet since they're not flush against the door/jam.

Should I keep the 3 sets or return them?

They're fine. They have fixed the battery issue and I believe those are the cheapest sensors you'll find currently. Plus, they also apparently work with SmartThings so if you decide to abandon Wink and jump to SmartThings, you should be able to use them still.

They have definitely fixed the issue with the more recent firmwares -- around .55 I believe.

For the price and physical size (nice and small) they are excellent. I ended up peeling off the included 3m tape and used 3m command velcro strips. The velcro allows the base of the Tripper to be angled down a little if your door has obtrusive molding and it will make battery changing very easy a year from now.

The next time they run a good discount I may buy another pack or two, I've got an idea about making an "ON AIR" light box that would activate based on tripper status.

The 3m command Velcro strips are the key -- the included adhesive sucks.

Sorry if I missed above but what is the range on the trippers?

Anyway, I've been using my Wink now for about 6 weeks and having no complaints at all. As mentioned, I only use it to turn lights on and off twice/day (6 exterior lights). They're always on when expected.
Its roughly 50' Im sure this is pushing the limit. But despite being in the middle of winter it is still working great.
Nice. I wanted a tripper specifically for my mailbox.

Not paying $50 for two, though. Will wait to see if I catch a hot deal on them at some point.

I have not seen what the listed range is on them. Given how much detail and instruction wink gives us on any of their products I would not expect to hear much. I just figure for a low power device intended for a mesh network that is probably a little far.

The trippers are $40 shipped and in stock on amazon right now. Hard to bead for $20 a piece.

Quirky did a 50% off sale at Christmas... $12.50 a piece and I should've bought a buttload more in retrospect. Oh well.

I noticed that the robot which is designed to turn on my lights if my garage door opens between 6:30 and 11 PM seems to trigger the light outside of that timeframe. Kind of annoying.

They're normally $40 for two on Amazon.

I have mine 40'-50' away from the hub and they work fine. I tested one on an outside gate (probably 50'-60') and it still seemed to work.

It says that it is only compatible with link bulbs. I'm having a hard time understanding the point of it. For not that much more you can get the full feature hub.

How does Geofencing work with multiple people. If I set a Robot on both my wife and my phone to turn down the temperature when leaving home will it automatically detect that one person is still within the fence and not do it?

Got Tasker to successfully trigger a task to wait 5 minutes then turn off the light it picked up a notification as part of the robot that detected the motion and turned on the light!

Thats one issue with Robots worked around for now!

I dont suppose anyone has seen a GLaDOS TTS Engine for anroud out there? Tasker can use different engine and I really want a GLaDOS one to round out all the other sound bites I'm using...

On the plus side, my Wink Hub has been working great for awhile now...

AHAH! I KNEW I had seen that advertised! They have a bit more info in their FAQ:

http://www.wink.com/help/products/ge-link-starter-kit/#requirements

Not really sure what the point is, since you can get the Hub for a buck on a regular basis. From what I understand, the Lite/Light Hub is Wifi-based & only supports Zigbee (at least, from published information), and for now, will only support Wink-Certified Zigbee-based hardware: (starting with the GE bulb, with more support to be added in the future)

Can I connect Zigbee products other than what is listed on the Wink Products page?

The Wink HUB Light currently only supports the GE Link Bulb. Future support will include Tapt, Outlink and Trigger.

The system also supports multiple Wink Hub Lites:

Can I connect more than one Wink HUB Lite to my Wink account?

Yes! When you have multiple Wink HUB Lites connected to your Wink account, simply choose which Wink HUB Lite you would like to use during pairing.

My guess is that this is supposed to be a starter-kit-in-a-box type of deal, and also to be a range extender if you have a larger home (or have physical barriers that limit the signal) & want to outfit your whole place with Zigbee products like the GE Link bulb.

I finally gave up and killed the robot. It was activating the lights whenever the garage door opened, regardless of time of day. Strange. Note that my motion sensor robot, which turns on the light if motion is detected between certain hours, works perfectly.

I finally got the .56 update a couple of days ago but still can't get robots to use my motion sensor. I can connect it to the hub but just can't see any actions to select when using it in a robot. I have paired and unpaired many times re installed the wink app cleared app data but still no luck. The sensor I have is the same one that IndyColtsFan linked to a few pages back. I am on android and tried with different android devices and still no luck.

smhawkes,

Which motion sensor are you using? Can you post the model # and/or link?
