Point in case. Every light in my house is turned off via the wink hub. Left and came back and that's what my Wink hub shows.

This is the definition of lazy programming. It's a broken product that only works sometimes as it's advertised and that's bad that we accept that and give them the well maybe they just need a little longer. What they've essentially done is made us pay them to beta test their products.

That's how it goes now in technology though. Just patch it later! Guess I'm just tired of it because I work with it 24/7 and see these same trends over and over and over again from home automation to video games.

Speaking of which, if I remember right people were having intermittent blink issues with their GE lights? I was in the dining room, which has a view of the entry where I have a GE Link bulb, and it turned off & on really quickly. Not even like a full off & on, just a quick blink. I hadn't used my Wink app for hours & hadn't turned that one on via the app for a long time. Weird. And my wife was standing next to me and saw it to, so I know I'm not crazy. I did get the smirk & eyeroll since she knows it's one of my smartbulbs

Just to consolidate a list of resources:

Kaido's Wink wiki (mine - outdated, and I'm not sure if I plan to update it if I jump ship to SmartThings v2)
Wink Status API (official system status site)

Discussion Groups:

Anandtech thread for the Wink Hub (this thread)
Wink User Group on Facebook
Wink Hub on Reddit
Quirky forums (nothing official just for the Wink, however)
Unofficial Wink Products forum
dgruhin's Wink Workshop forums
winkaggiehouse's Wink Home Automation forum

Third-party projects:

BillinGlendale's web page control project for Wink
Craig Trunzo's Tasker Wink Hub integration Project
WinkControl for the Pebble e-ink smartwatch

Neat installations:

ieee_raider's wall-mounted tablet
dgruhin's wall-mounted iPhone

That's a nice list. This isn't mine, but it would be good for your list: http://imgur.com/a/0uAow

That's what I have. If you need help, holler and I will see if I can talk you through it.

One thing I noticed, with the switch, they give you one basic way to wire it. But the remotes, for some strange reason, come with more instructions and show different ways to wire it. I went with the switch instructions. Neutral is wh, Hot is BK, load is RD and YL/RD is the traveler wire for 3/4 way .

The alternate way shows how to wire without neutral.

Tip: look at the schematics as they are easier to follow over the written instructions, least for me.

Yes I was having that. I am at work during the day , but it was driving my GF crazy. I had just installed my zwave switch and thought it was that. Well it was sort of, as the GE's needed to be paired again . Once I did that the blinking stopped. So try that if you are having the issue and see what happens.

Hah, is that a manual switch for the Tripper? That's awesome!

If Wink ever allows for further customization, this is exactly what I'd want for certain projects. For example, I'd love one for my washing machine - toss in the laundry, press the button (or have the tripper mounted on the lid, haha), and 45 minutes later (Timer function) it sends an alert to your phone to go switch the laundry so you don't forget!

It's not a super huge deal since I only bought a single bulb to play with, but still...my fancy light shouldn't be turning off & on by itself

Side note, I like to use the 100w-equivalent Philips LED bulbs, although as I've put more of them in, I've noticed an annoying buzzing from them. It's very high-pitched like the old tube televisions were when they first turned on; I have a very high range of hearing & now that I have half a dozen bulbs, it's really starting to bug me. Might have to wait for another generation for them to fix that; my old incandescent bulbs don't have that problem...

Hmm, this lightswitch looks more along the lines of what I'm looking for:

Picture from an Amazon reviewer:

I'm not sure if it just has tap-to-send functionality, or if you can do a "hold" function for controlling dimming, or what the Wink compatibility is, but I prefer the standard toggle-switch design vs. a paddle-switch or Lutron-style pushbutton, so maybe I'll pick one up & try it out.

The weird part about this issue is it only happens to my lights that are closest to the hub - last night my home office lights while I was in there decided to play disco stew for a second. It's almost like they have some kind of anti-DDoS filter on the commands. I'll have to test this theory this afternoon.

winkworkshop.com

I started playing with your code. I built in bootstrap to make it responsive and started wrapping it in dashboard style interface.

I wrote a PHP widget for Http://winkworkshop.com to get Wink API status, can someone convert this to JS/Jquery? If so I can work it in to the Dashboard concept I started messing with from BillinGlendale's code.

Code:
<?php
$data = file_get_contents('http://status.winkapp.com/api/v2/summary.json');
$jsondata = json_decode($data);

echo "<ul>";
foreach($jsondata->components as $component) {
echo "<li class='winkname'>" . $component->name . " -  <span class='holder'><span class='status'>" . $component->status . "</span></span></li>";
}
echo "</ul>";
echo "<br>";
echo "<ul>";
foreach($jsondata->incidents as $incident) {
echo "<li class='winkname-normal'>" . $incident->name . " <br><span class='currently'>Status:</span> <span class='holder'><span class='status nofloat'> ". $incident->status . "</span></span></li>";
}
echo "</ul>";

?>

Also I would like to be able to hide the devices which are not "controllable" to make a Light "dashboard"

Then take the things like the hub status, and switches and things and have a separate page for those devices.

I tried to comment out sections of the wink.js but ended up with blank extra rows.

Is there a Github for this? I would fork the project and commit my changes.

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

BillinGlendale, I'll have to give it a try after work today.

What this really needs to be totally kick ass is to be built using node.js or ruby so we can have authentication beyond htaccess.

I am willing to invest my frontend dev time in to this for sure.

Can you access light groups and shortcuts from the API??

I am going to try tasker and see how the wink automation works.

Problem I am having is getting the project to actually import into tasker.

I see this is a common complaint (about tasker, not the wink file)- for some people it works fine, others it never works.

Moving the xml to the directory doesn't work as tasker doesn't see it when I try the import option.

The other way is to try and open the file and share it to tasker. But that doesn't work ether as tasker refuses to take it and says"sorry this content cannot be handled by tasker".

I have renamed the file to just wink.xml in case the extra period was causing an issue, but no luck and infact I think this is a mistake . What permissions is tasker looking for?

Again I see a lot of complaints about this. but so far I have not seen anyone with a working fix. If you have had this problem , how did you fix it?

Thanks.

You need to make sure its out of beginner mode. I unchecked it the first time i used it and somehow it didn't save the setting change. Spent the next hour trying to figure out how to load the file. Randomly went back to the settings menu and found beginner mode checked again. Also long press on the menu in the bottom left once it is out of beginner mode to bring up import project

Thank you ..I finally stumbled on that. Also had to find the right import button.

I am still trying to get it all working but close. Got the voice command working but tasker doesn't act on it. A lot of steps are missing in the instructions so I would not recommend this for newbs..
