I'm guess I've been too much of an optimist about Wink. They put out the new Wink Hub 2, which on paper looks great and has local control of lights, etc.
But they still have the same amateurish QA (if any) of their software updates. They pushed out a required hub firmware update this weekend (Saturday) which appeared to immediately break all Shortcuts. Of course Wink customer support is closed Sunday and Today (President's Day) is a holiday for them. I'm really close at this point to just throwing the damn hub in the trash and going with something else. At least I have purchased IOT devices that are (mostly) compatible with Apple Homekit. I would seriously consider ST hub, but I have too big an investment in Lutron Casetas (8 dimmers and 12 remotes).
For ST backup, there is a (albeit, convoluted) way coming that will allow backup, but very non-standard and imperfect. Use webCoRE for your automations (when released). Then all the pistons can be backed-up.
Just got my Wink Hub 2. I have one Caseta dimmer installed in my dining room, and it works great. Reason I went with it is because I don't have a neutral wire in my dining room.
I'm planning on upgrading my front porch, but I'm not sure how I want to go about it. I do want to get a smart switch, but I'm not sure if a z wave switch will work because I don't believe I have a neutral. Can any of you guys take a look at the 2 gang switches? It is the switch on the left I would like to replace. Here are the photos.
Other than that, what other suggestions of things should I get? I would like to get a connected thermostat and smoke alarm, but I'm not sure what to get. I looked at Nest, Ecobee, GoControl, but I'm not sure which will work best. I don't believe I have a C wire connection, so I would need a power extender kit or use batteries. I've attached the photos in the previous Google album. As for smoke detectors, what is the best out there? I don't need ridiculously fancy features, but I would like one that is reliable and can alert me when away.

Today marks an exciting new chapter for Wink and we wanted you to be the first to hear about it.
Wink has been acquired by lifestyle technology company i.am+.
If you’re not familiar, i.am+ was founded by innovator and music artist will.i.am and has already shaken up the wearables industry with BUTTONS – premium wireless Bluetooth headphones.
Our teams are in the process of coming together to shape our future roadmap and we can’t wait to share what we’re working on.
In the meantime, please know that your Wink app and Wink Hub will continue to operate just as they have. The acquisition doesn’t change anything with regards to the Wink user experience.
We know you depend on Wink to stay connected to your home and are as committed as ever to delivering the best-in-class smart home experience you expect.
We’ll be introducing a number of new in-app features and partner integrations in the coming months. Keep an eye out on our blog for more information (and for updates throughout this transition). If you have any questions, give us a call at 844-WINK-APP.
The Wink Team
Yeah... I was a bull for Wink for a long time. But support has been waning. Updates have been slow. The system I have setup is super solid, though. No issues for longer than I can remember now. But I am not enthused by this purchase. Good thing I just replaced my Relay with a mounted Android tablet. I'm not switching just yet.. but when I do, it's gonna suck. I'm gonna need at least 2 Smartthings hubs, a Lutron bridge, and a lot of patience. I have well over 100 devices to switch over if/when I do.
But for now, I'm in "Wait And See" mode.
