Yes its another thread about The Wire. I know many people here praise the show and I've seen it called the greatest show ever numerous times and I why exactly so many people feel this. Now before I'm overrun by rabid fanboys, I just finished the final episode myself and I agree that it is a great fucking show. I actually hated the pilot but decided to stick with it due to all the praise and after like 3 episodes I was hooked.

I think overall Season 2 was the best and also had the best version of the intro song which was also the original if I'm not mistaken.

So Wire fanboys, tell me why it is you love it so much?

Haven't watched it. I may have to finally get on it once I get down with a few shows. Right now to me, Spartacus is the greatest show ever.

I watched it, hated it and then proceeded to the shelf the show for like 6 months before I decided to give it another go and I don't regret that for a second. Saying it starts off slow is an understatement imo.

I enjoyed the first season and the Blood and Sand one but I couldn't stomach more than a few ep's with the new lead.
Also not trying to be a douche but Spartacus isn't anywhere on the same caliber as a show like The Wire, not by a mile.

Very few high quality shows out there right now. I love Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Game of Thrones to name a few and a couple of somewhat 'lesser' shows like Homeland.

I'm from Baltimore and so I was already hoping to like it when it started. However, Homicide was filmed here too and I didn't watch that entire series. The Wire was great because the writing and characters were great. You rooted for the crooks AND the cops, and then you rooted against both the crooks and the cops. And you always rooted against the Politicians

Have you ever heard any racist, bigoted or otherwise negative comments about the character of Omar? I haven't. They took a gay black thug who conducted home invasions for a living and made everyone root for him regardless of your own background. That's just the biggest example that popped into my head. The writing for Omar and the series in general was outstanding, and that's what kept me watching.

Since each season was so different, of course everyone has seasons and story lines they found boring. The great thing about that was next season was a whole new arc. My favorite was Season 4 with the kids and Chris and Snoop. Also that was my favorite theme.

And you are correct, Season 2's theme was the original song by the original artist. Here are all 5 in a row:

Man I really enjoyed Omar and they really couldn't have chosen a better actor for it. I was both surprised and sad when
