JumBie,

I bet you have Texture Downscaling turned on. Here, use these settings and tell us what you think:

Texture Downscaling is a no-no for IQ and UberSampling is now know as the destroyer of framerates lol

Looks like I'll have to wait until I get better hardware to play this game at decent settings.

Hmm, really?

Oh... well, there goes your credibility.

If it really is better with the 360 controller though, I'll have to try it.

How is my credibility gone if you haven't tried it? If anything that questions your credibility.

It was a joke. I haven't played TW2 yet, but I've played FO3, a first-person game which is arguably better with a KB+M. I was just poking fun at your odd preference for a 360 controller in such a game.

I'm still waiting for screenshots of the games that are far superior to The Witcher 2 in graphics. I haven't seen any posted yet, wtf...if you're going to call it, post it.

I have a very high rig gaming system so i'm lucky enough to be able to max out all the graphics options the game has and as the title states, hands down this is the best looking game to date on the PC, previously i'd say Crysis 1 or STALKER using the Complete Mod but credit where it is due the Witcher 2 has to be the new benchmark in PC gaming.

The level of detail is nothing short of OUTSTANDING, seriously and the lighting effects just blow you away. Nothing comes close to this, as for the gameplay it just sucks you in, i've only played it for an hour but it feels like five minutes, quickest gaming hour in my life.

To date i'd go as far as saying this deserves game of the year or RPG of the year.

I'm in shock, i've just been admiring the detail of the environments, i take my hat of to the developers and i'd like to state that even though they are releasing this for Xbox 360 this game was clearly built for the PC from top to bottom, they didn't neglect PC gamers that made the first a sucess unlike Crytek (sorry had to add that).

Games should NOT get awards for graphics.

Not sure who 'ubersampling' is intended for... Either 640x480 gamers running 580SLI or some strange race with technology far beyond ours

I can max the game out at 2560x1600 with everything turned as high as it goes, but, ubersampling. I get about 40-70 outdoors and 100+ indoors. My FPS grinds down to 10-20fps with ubersampling turned on, useless feature at this point. If it runs on my rig that poorly, it's not going to run on anyone's rig at a playable framerate. My impression is that it is some sort of supersampling type AA, but it doesn't look like SSAA when enabled, so I'm not really sure what it is beyond an FPS killer.

SLI scaling is piss poor and showing low GPU usage, maybe if that gets fixed it will be somewhat playable with ubersampling on.

Game does look awesome though and never mind the graphics, the gameplay is amazing.

Not sure if this helps, but the readme says, "- Ubersampling: high quality rendering mode under which whole scenes are rendered multiple times to provide the best possible textures, object details and anti-aliasing (superior to anti-alias and anisotropy even on the highest settings). Use with caution, only on top-end computers (best possible in terms of both GPU and CPU)."

The 360 controller makes it a lot easier to navigate through the pip boy menus. Plus it's not a twitchy shooter so you don't really need the speed of the mouse. I played FO3 all the way through with a controller and didn't have any problems.

I've played both games. Witcher 2 looks better. Screenshots don't do it justice. It's the lighting and details which still shots cannot show of course.

It's a big call to say it's the "best graphics ever" but to say the graphics are "nothing in comparison" to other games is just trolling.

Spot on, i couldn't agree more, the pictures look good but this game has to be seen in motion to really be appreciated, those pictures don't do the game justice!

Now back to playing!

No I don't, the only thing i have disabled is ubersampling for obvious reasons. I don't know I guess my personal standards are just way to high.

Ok, this game is simply beautiful. I've got the same settings as SniperWulf posted above and the game runs smooth, no stutter!

The only thing is that I suck with combat...damn it took me 1 hour just to finally
escape the dragon at the beginning of the game
...I was a little put off by that but managed to get it right. Combat in general is not top notch...blocking works half the time and when they throw waves of ennemies at you, including units with shields or heavy weapons, you're in for some kitting...but it make the game more challenging and that's positive.

BTW, i'm playing at normal difficulty, so I guess i'll have to unsuck my clicking skills!

It looks like this game punishes you if you just barge in without a strategy. I find myself using the various signs a whole lot more than I did on the first game. The signs combined with traps and bombs really help combat.

The combat in this game is clunky and many people are going to refer to this as "challenging," but really it is just a frustrating experience.

In order to fight effectively you basically have to "kite" the enemy and pray to either stun one so you can do an automatic kill or single one out long enough so that you can kill it without being hit. The visual cues for dodging enemy attacks are bad at best and sometimes hit detection is wonky.

The difference in a challenging combat system and clunky one is the difference between this game and something like Ninja Gaiden (Xbox original). Ninja Gaiden is renowned for being difficult, but as you play the game you can easily feel yourself getting better at the combat and you can easily progress to the point where the game is no longer difficult just by merit of your own improvement. In the Witcher 2 being good at the combat only means getting further in the game where you just get better exploitable skills that help you avoid the inherent problems with the combat system. For example better magical skills will allow you to pin down more enemies so it is easier to single them out, however this does not actually make multiple enemy combat any less clunky... it just makes it less frequent.

As someone who no longer has the time or patience for games that deliver frustrating experiences for the sake of being "geared" towards hardcore gamers I will no longer be playing the Witcher 2.

Combat on normal has been easy for me as far as soon as I learned to use the defensive sign. Forget name

Remember that blocking uses vigor so you can't block endlessly.

In the first witcher arden and igni signs were the only good ones. Early on this is now reversed.

Do you mean AXII? The one that puts a defensive barrier around you?

And I started to use traps and they're great combat starters...just don't get near them though hahaha!

Does anyone know how to use formulas? I know they are different from crafting items such as armor and weapons, as i can go to certain crafters for that. However I have no clue where to go or what to do to make my bomb formulas, I'm doing a quest where I get swarmed by nekkars and I need to make a bunch of Samum bombs in order to fight them off.

lol I can't help but remember everyone trashing DA2 for this

You're remembering wrong. It wasn't the waves of enemies that were the problem - DA1 certainly had no shortage of meat grinding. The problem with DA2 was that there was always a second wave, and it always appeared out of thin air directly behind you. Even if it was 7 foot tall Qunari who don't do stealth. Or regular old archers somehow stepping out of a dimensional vortex.
