Can we move the Gameworks discussion to a thread that actually deals with Gameworks and get back to the subject of TW3?

Maybe a good idea but it does show how business conduct is unavoidable as a subject even with games you like to play.

I think its an important discussion to have and is related to the thread.

I don't like where we are headed with Gameworks or Mantle. Though Mantle is set to be made open source?

Anyways, I rather we have DX12 do everything it says it will, and have developers not cave into going with either AMD or NVIDIA centric design. Its bad for the consumer at the end of the day if games favour one over the other. Let DX be the neutral API, as possible as it can be.

At the end of the day all I want to do is install a game, update my drivers, and play the game as smoothly as possible.

I don't want to wait for a chip maker to get their drivers in order because a game isn't meant to run smoothly on a specific set of hardware.

You know now that I look at the title I think it is for sure appropriate to this topic since this is not some topic for gameplay or content but actually focused on more critical analysis of the production and business concerns.

Supposed to as far as what AMD had originally said when they announced the API software.

Honestly I want more games to start using Open GL as the API for their software code.

Discussion about how it pertains directly to TW3 is, your personal opinions or general discussions about Gameworks vs Mantle or Nvidia and AMD's business practices is off topic and we have an entire forum where you can discuss that rubbish.

How is it any different than the topic of companies downscaling graphics to appeal to the users of the least powerful platforms?

Last I checked, this topic is about The Witcher 3 specifically.

Which includes Gameworks. Maybe we could limit it to how Gameworks is affecting the Witcher 3? What specific Gameworks features are they using or not using for this game? What have the devs said as far as the use of Gameworks?

Oh, that I think relates to the topic, you guys were just starting to wander off into a discussion about it in general, and there are definitely other threads/forums for that.

Alright. If you think that the topic is just going to cause too much venom then that is a valid cause for not wanting to discuss it but I think for sure the Witcher 3 and Gameworks are related subjects so I was wondering if you were suggesting that they were not actually related. But I think so far the point about Gameworks and how it influences the Witcher 3 has already been made so I have nothing more to say on the subject until someone has something with some new insight on the subject and not just what has already been said about Gameworks.

Since I have not been keeping up with the updates do they have any new types of weapons or equipment? How is the mounted fighting implemented as far as mechanics? Was it done right in a thoughtful and powerful yet intuitive way like Mount and Blade or was it done in a cheap way like Skyrim did with their lackluster improvisation?
