Is that the golem ? He's not that tough. I got the sword-recipes at level-13 and made them at level-13. Then went to get the 4 pieces of leather gear. And got those at level-14. Wasn't that hard. And I'm not a very good player. I play at B&BB-difficulty.

Make the swords first. They are only level-13. Then use them while getting the other recipes. They help.
You can avoid the golem. The guy is a half witcher half beast and he holds the 7th piece of the recipe.

I think I should go get the light armor feline set now but I'm only level 13 now and the guy I need to fight at the end for the last piece of crafting recipe is level 17.

Is that the one where you have to travel to skellig? if so if you take your time with the fight you can kill him, i was doing about ~500 a hit and usually can get 3-4 quick hits or 3 strong hits when he block, dodge away, hit quen to get a freebie hit on you and repeat

No, all the pieces can be found in velen/novigrad. The guy I'm talking about is in that cave to the left of the golem. A level 17 half witcher half beast from what I have read. At least I think it's all in velen or novigrad because I already tried going to skellige and the captain would not take me.

Is it even worth getting the cat school gear? I'm not even leveled up enough to wear any of that stuff.

Have you checked the actual gear level? You can equip the gear about 3-4 levels earlier than the level of the quest.

The crossbow is level 22 I think, the sword is 13 or 14, the pants and gauntlets are in the mid twenties I think.

that must be the enhanced set, then. I think the base cat gear starts at level ~14 or 16 for the armor pieces? I think the first crossbow recipe appears with the enhanced set...I find crossbows to be junk for the most part, and those for the witcher gear are strangely leveled way above their own set.

You have to find the quests for each gear set to unlock them...or just stumble upon the chests randomly...which I often do. If you are OCD and start clearing out question marks (pick up everything on every notice board you find--even if it isn't a quest, the random notices often unlock question marks on the main map), you will just stumble upon the gear and/or the quests that unlock them--usually some letter.

You can only craft each level of gear if you have the previous, so standard > enhanced > superior > mastercraft for each type of witcher gear. You need to find all the recipes for each set at each level.

I have them all...except the fucking enhanced griffin chest armor piece. This is really annoying, and I have no idea where to find it.

I liked playing around with the Griffin set before waiting to level up and use the cat gear. It definitely allowed me to take a few more hits, but going back to light armor, it's hilarious how fast the red bars go down on your enemies.

Hmm not sure of its enhanced. It's my first cat school quest and I haven't attempted it before. I was watching some walkthroughs and all the places you have to go to are in areas I've found already. But it could be that they are enhanced and I would not be able to use them yet. Or maybe the walkthrough showed the pieces at their enhanced set.

Enhanced Griffin armor is
west of Oxenfurt in White Eagle fort. Look for the rock troll (the one who thinks he's a redanian soldier). Behind the troll is a chest, open it.

IT says "enhanced" or "superior" or whatever.

But, if it is actually a level ~17 quest, it should be for the regular gear. ...though I seem to recall basic cat school recipes equippable at level 16? if so, the "level" on the quest is actually 19 or so. the quest levels suggested for witcher gear are always 3 levels above the gear itself--so be sure to do them earlier.

most of those quests are just find chest and pick it up and as others have said, the few guardians for some of those recipes can be avoided and you can open the chest without aggroing them.

I did that for a golem guarding, I think, the enhanced cat coat in the southern area of velen-somewhere in the swamp, near a place of power and a village owned by wraiths.

Yup I have that one too. That's a much higher level though. Been just saving it for later before gathering the pieces so I'd do the cat one first after I reach at least level 15.

Yea I need to see what it actually says in the name. It's a level 18 quest I think, or 17 for that matter like you said. Funny thing is I thought I finished the blood gold quest but it didn't register. It also shows up in my quest log as a level 18 quest.

I may put off playing the game if I end up getting the amd fury x just to see if I'd notice a difference.

Anyone ever get the Skellige flat water bug? I just encountered it a few moments ago.

Basically the water physics and tessellation is completely gone. Meditating for about 8 hours restores it though..

Witcher 3 has so many of these annoying, although not game breaking bugs.

So I decided to give Death March a go.
Wow.... quite the step up from Blood and broken bones.
I switched to Death March at level 15. What's funny is that drowner packs and ghoul packs can be rough even if the level difference is big.
Planning fights is far more important.
Personally I love it, but I can see how it would be frustrating.

I've never seen that. Still with the 960 on 347.88.

It's no worse than games like Skyrim. The main issue for me is delayed full-res textures/texture pop in (or the full res textures not showing up at all in cutscenes). At first I was giving it the benefit of the doubt because of my 2GB VRAM being saturated, but it seems to happen just as much whether the VRAM is full or has hundreds of MB to spare.

I wonder if they're going to keep up the patching momentum, or leave these kinds of bugs in the game forever. Still waiting for an option to turn off screen effects. Come on guys, after Tomb Raider 2013 it should have been obvious that people would want this option. Unfortunately they've kind of tied screen effects into the gameplay with that stupid water hag mud thing (that, I might add, people were complaining about before the game was even released), so maybe that's made them less inclined to provide a blanket option to disable screen effects.
Ugh that waterhag effect, hate it so much. That's the first thing I turned off in tomb raider.

The one that annoys me is with Igni flamethrower. Not sure if bug or WAI, but enemies don't seem to notice it until they've been in the flames for about a second. Can't tell you how many times I've started to flambe a guy only to have him run over and smack me, even though the graphics show him being on fire.

Also, does anyone else think that most enemies are too "good"? I'm not talking about combat difficultly in itself, but the way that any random wolf, drowner, nekker, etc can dance and dodge around almost as well as the witcher they're fighting. Not to mention how good every human enemy is at parrying blows. It's a small annoyance but I wish they had done more to balance combat while still making Geralt feel like the mutant, superhuman, master swordsman freak that he is.

Nope, he's plenty powerful and it's nice that enemies aren't just hp sponges that let you spam attacks.

I swear, this game can annoy the piss outta me with all this running around looking for this manuscript and this diagram, then I have to go to this particular craftsman and blah blah blah. D:

I love this game really, but the fetch quests concerning loot and gear are just too much.. Why can't they have all the diagrams in one place as a single set?

Yea its annoying which is why I just explore and use gear I find. I figure when I get the feline set I'll need to go to a special smith? Or I'll probably need to gather ingredients for all the items first which I usually hope to already have but 9/10 I usually do not.
