Not that none of this is possible, but this sounds sort of like Peter Molyneux was hired by CD Projekt RED.

I will buy anything from these guys because they make fantastic games and do a great job supporting the PC platform. If they can keep a great narrative with memorable characters while also having a huge open world, it would be tremendous. Bethesda games lack the great narrative, charcters and plot. I think a big reason why is because you create your own character and he/she has no dialogue. The voice acting is also very wooden. If they can capture the best aspects of a Bethesda game while keeping what makes the Witcher special, I think they will have an amazing game on their hands.

This looks like it could be pretty good.

Since I missed out on Skyrim (Steam-phobic), this looks to be a good replacement.

Heck, I have both the Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 on GOG and haven't even played them yet (huge backlog), guess I better get busy

Because it's made by CD Projekt Red, it will definitely be available on GOG.com. If I had it guess, it will be the most ambitious, highest-quality game ever released DRM-free.

As soon as TW3 pops up on Steam for pre-order, I will buy it immediately. My money is waiting.

The only thing Bethesda is good at, is creating large, beautiful open-worlds. That's it. They suck at making actual games. Skyrim provided a huge, pretty environment, but everything else is just so arsed. I don't know how a game like Skyrim gets such high praise for having combat mechanics from the 90's.

But, that's just my opinion. I apologize for turning this into a Bethesda hate-thread. I'm just saying: CDPR is the antithesis of Bethesda.

If they deliver on all those points mentioned above, The Witcher 3 will be GOTY, no contest. Hell, even if they only deliver on half those points, it will still be GOTY.

It's been less than a day since official announcement, and the hype machine has already been kicked into high-gear. I wonder if CDPR realizes just how much hype they manage to stir up from their rabid fan base. :hmm:

I'm a little scared about CDP Red developing a "totally open world", because when RPGs have huge environments, the rest of the game usually sucks because of it (see: every Bethesda game ever). But, I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt.

Edit: Still reading into the details. I'm glad they're not making enemies scale.

Also, a game environment 30 times larger than The Witcher 2? Goddamn CD Projekt.

Yeah, I'm still worried about this open world idea. I personally loved how the Witcher 2 was a tight knit story, it felt like a novel to me. I guess I am, "old fashioned" like that where I loved games like Kotor and the heavy focus on story line and not just giving the player a massive sandbox.

One thing mentioned in the OP's video that I like is the fact that CDPR does not let publishers dictate to them how their games will be made. This is evident by the amount of support after release both Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 have had. They could easily have gone the paid DLC route but they continued to produce free DLC long after both titles were released.

Sure, Skyrim was disappointing story wise, however, Morrowind was filled with amazing lore and had a pretty good main story. Sadly, few developers care about story anymore.

I am really looking forward to this game, despite not finished Witcher 2 lol. I really need to go back and finish that one.

Did they say they are going to fix the colossal fuckups they introduced in Witcher2? Never could kill that Kayran because of the Dragon's Lair style gameplay. What a stupid-stupid move.

The open world has me hesitant but I'm so stoked for this game. The entire Witcher series has been fantastic, and CDProjekt's level of support for their games is inspiring. If they can sucessfully nail the benefits of open world gameplay with the Witcher series' trademark excellent storytelling and multifaceted characters, this will be a game to remember.

Only putting out two games will do that. Even then they're 1 for 2

2/2, but you liked ME3's ending so I suppose theres no accounting for taste.

I hope this game would be really mod friendly then we can have a game that can really last a long time even though it may be last of the series!

Dragon lair style? I thought it was more or less like a Zelda boss battle.

I really want to like the Witcher series, but the controls really need to be worked on. The first was downright ruined by the control scheme and the second felt clunky.

<3 cdp. 2 was an impressive improvement on 1 (which was great), if 3 is another step forward, then wow.

He's probably referring to the quicktime events, which IIRC, there's only 2 or 3 of during that battle.

The Kayran fight is stupidly easy anyway.

Technically, it's an easy fight, but the controls make it more of a challenge than need be.

What makes these games so great? The storyline? I haven't played any of them and I am thinking of jumping in after I beat Dead Space 3.
